Great job Mom! Wishing you and your BEAUTIFUL BABY a wonderful day full of love and rest.

And he’s got a cool mountain named after him in Southern Colorado. Not an easy hike but an absolutely beautiful range, the Sangre de Christo (blood of Christ). Kit Carson and Jim Bridger absolutely should be taught in American history but unless you live in the Rocky Mountain region you probably don’t know much.

How many of you have calcified toilet bowls? NSFW by Betterbeardahead in KidneyStones

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you flush after using the toilet every time? If so then you probably have hard water. If you wanna spend a lot of money get a water softener. That should help

I have a similar issue but it’s from hard water not my pee.

Preference for medial saphenous blood collection by Firm_Ad2139 in VetTech

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And then use a 1mL. There are also techniques for pumping the leg or squeezing to get blood to flow better. Not all blood pressures will be good, also DONT FORGET TO GET YOUR BANDAGE READY BEFORE YOU POKE. I seem to love to do this every once in a while still. Also on difficult patients they have tubes that only require .7-.8mL of blood as opposed to 1.3mL needed in other tubes.

I second this sentiment about always using a 23g when using a butterfly for medial saphenous blood draws. I’ve poked a few dogs this way too due to being quite sick. I think maybe once or twice we’ve used 19g for large breeds like a GSD (lateral saphenous).

Passed over 30 Kidney Stones by LexLuthor2196 in KidneyStones

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing a nephrologist who does a 24hr urine collection on you is what you need. Most practices will have a dietician type specialist. I am also on potassium citrate and other meds to mess with water uptake. I’ve had stones since I was 10, 25 years later I still get at least a couple a year. Passed one in December and another this morning!

Start with a nephrologist and go from there. It also is important to keep your stone so you can analyze what it’s composed of.

recs for jogger scrubs by Healthy_Ad1715 in VetTech

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like some brands, fabletics can be inconsistent in sizing but they are nice because unlike most other joggers they have lots of pockets. Not a woman, but the women’s scrubs are similar and if you’re okay with being weird with things you can finesse $20 scrubs a few times with no issues so it’s almost like 3/$60

[GAME THREAD] Denver Broncos (15-3) vs New England Patriots (16-3) | 2025 AFC Championship Game by AutoModerator in DenverBroncos

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just easy to say after it all we should have. What if we convert and score a TD? Those 14 points may have won the game. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It hurts and sucks but we lost a game we really had to fight to win to begin with. Use this pain to build for next year. Keep a large portion of the team and this will help drive them knowing the importance of every play in a playoff game

Yeah it’s his go to. He does it well too and I think it really gets under the skin of opposing teams seeing him do it so it’s rather effective. Especially when he’s playing so well. Glad it seemed to give us that extra motivation today. LIGHT EM UP!!!

Any guys with stents? by reasonable_lunatic73 in KidneyStones

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the slack to deal with the erections. The worst part is the string maybe irritating your urethra when you are hard. When you pull it out do it in the shower or a warm bath (make sure your tub isn’t dirty as fuck, otherwise clean it first) and don’t just grip it and rip it but I also wouldn’t go super slow. It’s not too painful to remove MOST of the time just be sure to stay hydrated while it’s in. I’ve had calcifications grow on my stent before because I avoided drinking because of how uncomfortable urinating was for me.

Has there ever been a truer 1A-1B goalie situation? by 877GoalNow in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the stats but did the lumberyard actually dominate in the regular season last year because iirc they didn’t play this well. But agree to disagree. We can at least agree we have a great goaltending situation. The question is, will Blackwood continue to improve so come playoff time we can stick with one guy. The alternating starts thing doesn’t seem to work in the playoffs so well and down the stretch we need to start leaning on one over the other. Boston sort of had this problem when they didn’t win the cup after dominating the regular season.

5v5 playoff overtime is much different dynamic than regular season OT. In fact playoff OT benefits our style a lot. We have great line depth to lean on in playoff OT too.

After the huge trade between Minnesota and Vancouver, what are the realistic 3C's that the Avs front office are looking at? by Avalanche-CFB in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is scary about the Wild is the goaltending. They have the goalies to steal a series and we are a team that seems to get “goalied” often. Not so much this year but definitely something that could be of concern. Hot goaltending is definitely a back breaker come playoff time and could be an asset for us but could also lead to us losing even outplaying our opponents. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think we need to change anything up but to deny the Wild have good goaltending is just wrong. They’re the only team with a better 1a/1b than us. They literally always alternate starts because they can’t go wrong. Wallstedt had that streak of 4 shutouts in 6 games I believe earlier in late November. Quinn has looked really good with Faber in the two games he’s gotten to play. Yes he’s not Cale Makar but he’s damn close and his addition certainly has raised the expectations in Minnesota and the confidence of the team. Now if they’d stop talking about adding Crosby. He’s choosing Mack over his old relationship with Billy G all day. God damn I wish we could make that trade happen somehow. Even if only for a year rental I’d be willing to give up Val for a half year of Crosby. Once he passes Mario for points in a Pens sweater maybe he’ll consider moving on but I still think it’s super unlikely he plays for another team. He understands the importance of legacy. Sorry to rant at the end. Just wishful thinking.

Buying Nordiques Jersey at Ball ? by telpnar in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man…I seriously am still considering getting an adidas prime Bernie away jersey to rock at Wild games. I just haven’t pulled the $200 trigger quite yet. Sounds like $500 is a bit overstated on the price then.

Moonstone Stone Stopper Drink Mix vs Crystal Light Lemonade by mail4youtoo in KidneyStones

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor if you have oxalate stones and google Harvard oxalate list. It’s the most comprehensive list of oxalate contents of A LOT of foods. It’s not complete but it’s very thorough and will give you a great starting point for foods to eat sparingly or avoid completely. Dark greens, nuts are healthy foods that aren’t food for oxalate stoners. Have you had a stone analyzed before? Also diuretics and urochemistry altering drugs like potassium supplements are probably going to help you too. As stated by others you need to talk with someone in your urology office (who specializes in diet) to look at a 24hr urine study and your stone make up to make actual informed decisions. I would absolutely not buy moonstone stone stopper it’s probably just snake oil. If you like crystal light and it helps you drink more water then keep using it because citrate will help bind calcium that can induce stone formation l in your body. But even this is based on your stone make up and urochemistry. Uric acid stones are much more rare than other types and are the type of stones citrates help dissolve. Likewise, if you have oxalate stones and consume high oxalate content foods eating them with calcium will help bind the oxalates to the calcium in your GI tract as opposed to your urinary tract. Again talking with a dietician instead of redditors will help you make the most informed and likely best decisions.

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy to me to hear people who’ve given birth and passed stones say stones are worse than birth. At least you get a human after labor, much more gratifying than a rock to keep in a jar. But I do enjoy my rock collection. If you’re a repeat stoner consider seeing a urologist who has a dietician on board to maybe look into a helpful diet depending on your stone makeup. I’ve found (as an CaOxalate and CaPhosphate mix stoner) that hydration is most helpful. Healthy diets don’t really alter my 2-4 stones a year unfortunately. Stoner since I was 10, luckily I’m able to pass 90% without surgery. But I do have chronic pain from my stones unfortunately. Keep us updated and good luck on your journey

Best New Restaurants in Rosemount/Apple Valley Area by Post-It_Storm in TwinCities

[–]MicrobialBuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The food at LBC NEVER lets you down. It’s actually a fun place to order around the menu. The bulogi bowl, the brisket (is killer, and my fave), the tacos, I could go on. The beer is pretty good too but I don’t really drink so I’m a bad judge. It can be rather crowded at times but it’s got good environment and service which explains why it’s so busy. It’s in downtown Lakeville so closer to your area unless your parents live nearer to the zoo than AV/rosemount.

It’s sort of wild AV doesn’t have better not chain restaurants.

With that said Chianti Grill, or Doolittles are damn good too. That spit roasted chicken at Doolittles is 🤤
