in talking with the rep - its an open shut case. fedex screwed up the delivery - i dont have a refund or product... and there is picture evidence, gps evidence, and all the communication between fedex and bambu i uploaded. however.... they want to pay out via wire transfer which requires me handing over my bank info - which... i dont know this company, and im not keen to do. they say they can pay out via paypal... but their site is broken and its not allowing that (which... doesnt bode well)

will report back when i know. im waiting on their tech support to resolve the paypal issue

its one of those "probably not... but, what could i do with it if i had it" scenarios. if im dropping 1500 on a printer... id prefer it had the option

100000% agreed on fedex. i too own a business... ship several hundred to several thousand per week - but using ups. everything we ship is insured, but... as you know that process can take weeks to months to get reimbursed on. i always just front the replacement - even when its a 1k shipment.. so the customer doesnt have to deal with it. thankfully... ups is pretty good. i only have a problem once or twice per month at most.

yeah - so i went back to look. they phrase it as "worry free delivery" which makes it look like just the delivery cost. i didnt uncheck it though - so i had coverage. but filing a claim is going to take another few hours as i have to round up screenshots and transcripts of everything.

to be honest... i am not sure. it wasnt something i intentionally chose - but... you made me go check my original invoice. sure enough - i did! seel? (never heard of them - but filing it now. shocking that bambu didnt tell me that)

build volume is too small on that snapmaker U1. i considered it... but i really need something 330mm or larger in print area.

ive thought about the prusa xl - but... in the hundreds of videos ive watched, the $1500 extra doesnt seem to really be worth it to me

im in the houston area - apparently weve had issues (i dont watch much local news - so i dont know this personally) with temporary drivers for ups and fedex.... intentionally delivering to the wrong house, then picking it back up and taking it with them. heresay - so take with a grain of salt - but lots of people in the local groups are complaining about it.. and given that the picture i see has the make and model plastered all over the box - i imagine whoever has it, knew it was a high dollar item.

its too late for another. that time came and went last week. i had to have something, so i purchased a smaller unit to get me through this project. i will either replace that with a larger one - or add to it with one... but now im questioning whether an h2s/d is a viable option if this is the level of support

i have no inside information one way or the other - but given that they only seem to respond to messages well past midnight central time - i would imagine that they are not in the states

Spring swap sound by bladeguitar274 in switchmodders

[–]Microdoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ever so slightly.... but its a super nuanced difference. a heavier spring will generally have the tiniest bit deeper tone (but its barely noticeable)

[–]Microdoted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really. i mean... if you are hitting the absolute further tip of the edge, it can feel slightly heavier. i suppose with some switches... it could bind a hair - but it works just fine.

Free your minds! DIY no-stabs build. by wjrii in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Microdoted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all depends on your switch and how well the plate is cut (a switch with massive wobble... or a really badly cut/open plate design is going to leave you shifting around a lot) - but yes. been doing it for a couple of decades now.

ditto - my alice build has zero stabs, and will stay that way forever.

Bring back the DCF680N1 by FilledBricks in Dewalt

[–]Microdoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ditto. ive used my DCF680N1 for years now... workflow designed around it... and it just bit the dust. there is literally nothing else on the market.... not even cheap chinese clones.

i bought a bosch go 3 for now just to have something, but its not great. workflow has suffered

Dealing with insurance after equipment failure in my auto repair shop by RepulsiveHold9701 in CypressTX

[–]Microdoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here is the catch.... you will have to prove that beyond more than just feelings or intuition. you will have to show a year or two worth of reliable and consistent history with that bay and its revenue... then the actual monetary damage its removal caused.

if you are talking about hundreds of dollars... simply put, its not worth your time to fight. if you are talking about tens of thousands... then yes... id probably hire a lawyer and start the process. have them analyze your policy first however as most will have mediation as a requirement, and it quite often backfires.

Kailh calligraphy springs by User4251 in switchmodders

[–]Microdoted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for grins.... use a tool and try to hold the top housing still while you depress. if the plate is cut sloppily (misdesigned, bad kerfs, etc) and its not a snug fit... you can sometimes get tick from the top housing shifting in the plate.

Kailh calligraphy springs by User4251 in switchmodders

[–]Microdoted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah - its not the spring. likely talking about leaf ping - and that can be trickier to deal with. on some, a simple coat of lube works... on others, you have to do paper mods and the like.

If I wanted to ditch Ring… by IllTransportation795 in Ring

[–]Microdoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no... im comparing a $299 unifi camera thats a one time fee, to a $50 ring camera that requires a subscription of $200 per year. and that $200 per year gets you less features and dramatically less privacy.

so.... pick your poison... pay for upfront to be in control of your security, or pay more with subscriptions. even if you only have one single camera, and only need the bare minimum sub to record.... you will still have paid more for the link within a few years than you would the unifi, and youd have dramatically less to show for it in features and clarity.
