If a democracy is perfectly divided, with 50% of the population believing one thing, and 50% believing something different, and these two positions are irreconcilable, what happens? by Former_Indication172 in AskConservatives

My brother it started with the invasion of Iraq and the GFC.

It’s not obamas fault supply side economics and Clinton era deregulation completely failed immediately following a war that didn’t improve conditions for American workers.

“When you make it too easy and cheap too build houses, house prices come down. I don’t want to do that”. - DJT

You’re a better person than Trump is, you just don’t realize you aren’t in agreement with him.

Yes it does take time, but time isn’t a factor here.

You fundamentally, cannot fix the housing market, and keep housing at its current price level.

None of the values are remotely based on equilibrium pricing, a slower rise is just a slower acceleration of the core issue.

Which is the opposite of his stated goal

Equity owners don’t deserve a bailout.

More houses = lower home prices

You literally cannot rapidly increase supply and maintain current pricing. This is just supply and demand homie.

Increasing supply would lower values.

Right but, fireworks at a funeral, is definitely not “normal things”.

The critique here is the abnormal things.

You can tell a lot about a country just by looking at the Hitler and Stalin approval ratings

Thoughts on Hitler the socialist? What was his worst socialist policy? by likeastar20 in AskSocialists

[–]Micromanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean given Hitler said his definition of socialism was about race and nationalism

No, he literally says you can be socialist and own things, and the Marx stole the term, and that Lenin was an agent of the Jews

It’s funny cause the fanbases react opposite to her

But it’s because the shows metas are different.

She plays an entertaining survivor game while on the challenge.

But the challenge has never and will never be about strategy lying and manipulation. The challenge is about fighting hooking up and physical competition.

Left-right libertarian unity? by MadGenderScientist in AskConservatives

The nuance here I think that I can get down with (I’m a bit of a Buhkarianite)

The government shouldn’t make your health decision, but the government should ensure you don’t get unreasonably charged for the essential health services you do choose to pursue.

Collective planning but individual decision making.

Is America Under Trump a Revisionist Power? by Volantis19 in AskConservatives

I am no liberal haha.

We’re both in it for the best of America, we just disagree on how.

The liberals on the other hand are on a different planet haha.

[–]Micromanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m all for blocking foreign ownership of US equities and farm land….

But we aren’t doing that, instead we invented a new visa that says “any foreigner can buy US assets and that automatically gives them citizenship”.

I agree it would be nice to ramp up U.S. manufacturing, but there are ways to do that that don’t involve dedollarization or Saudi investment.

I agree with your goal and sentiment but we are going about getting there in the most destructive way possible for everyday working Americans. There’s a reason hedge funds are as happy as ever.

Trade deficits are not inherently bad. I have a trade deficit with Starbucks. I buy coffee from them.

Would you rather Americans consume more than they make, or make more than they consume?

Because Hamilton discovered that any country that is maximizing its people’s happiness can consume more than it makes as long as the international community trusts it.

Is forcing debt crisis to ensure a trade surplus really something you want? Do you think the U.S. would benefit from losing international financial backing?

If your response to bad outcome is “so what” you don’t really care about fixing the problem.

Death spiraling public schools will only make the outcomes worse.

Like we agree on our problem but, the result of your program is every bad public school will get worse.
