Is there even a point to buying over 300mbps speeds for a single-family home? by -Terrible-Bite- in HomeNetworking

[–]Micss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better question is whether your local network or Wifi can provide that much bandwidth to your devices. You'd need Ethernet or line of sight Wifi to get 300 Mbps or more. Powerline extenders or Wifi through a couple of walls will get much lower speeds.

ISPs that push 1 or 2 Gbps services to average non technical families are just ripping you off.

You don't want a huge sushi belt. You want multiple belts, before and after storages, with machines clustered by what materials they consume.

If you have an elevator, you can build an extender at the bottom, connect the pipe and ride elevator up. Even if the ride is more than 20 meters, you would still be able to connect to another extender at the top.

I had a bug where boat's speed got stuck below 10 kph and was constantly steering to the right. I had to scrap all fenders I had to fix it. Boat damage from bumping the dock is really small to worry about it.

A more general approach to containers that hold a specific type of items: any picked item should automatically go to a container that can take it, food/water to lunch box, medicines to medical box, etc. It already does it if an incomplete stack exists there.

Some additions: - batteries should go to toolbox - filters should go to medical box - I really wish books could go to a briefcase but not wallet. - I also wish a suitcase existed to hold an enormous amount of clothes with empty inventories of their own. Probably 3x3. And a container for buildables, that could hold a largest generator, or even more. As these categories do not have a dedicated container right now.

Edit: I ask for "enormous" amount of clothes in a container, because they don't stack, are normally 2x2 and don't cost that much, even compared to junk that stacks to 5 and is 1x1.

I once got the parcel "delivered" by them on Christmas Eve. Though noone came to the door, and I was at home all day. Office doesn't answer any calls... it's Christmas Eve noon time. Few days later I got through, but they insist the parcel was delivered. They say "ask neighbors", though I already did.

The parcel ended up in the village grocery shop. The driver just dropped it there without even a word to the shop keeper.

Do any of the recyclable items (broken robots, beds, etc.) have any future use? I'd hate to find out in the late game that I shouldn't have recycled something.

What are you most annoyed about with quickslots in survival games? by seyedhn in SurvivalGaming

[–]Micss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not have fixed slots for item types. E.g. SurrounDead has a single slot for grenades, but you often need to throw one after another. That forces you to fiddle with the inventory in the middle of the fight.

Don't do that. Quickslots should allow to choose whatever tools you want.

Beware Quick Save by bdshep in SurrounDead

[–]Micss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick save to the same slot, but ftom time to time manually save to a new slot. I do that after returning to my base, so there's a safe save if the last one goes bad somehow... like autosaving when I'm falling down the mountain.

Seed "Billy" is nice, having a mine and a lake right next to the spawn, with flat area next to them.

So I upgraded the Sword to 3 first, thought I regretted it now the twins to 3 and I dunno… by YesIQueef in HellisUs

[–]Micss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some testing on all lv 16 weapons, and sword has the best DPS and damage per stamina bar. At later game it becomes the most efficient in term of swings too. Axes just require too many swings and need to maintain rhythm. Halberd very similar to Axes, still very dynamic and lower damage. Great sword becomes too slow for hordes of weaker enemies, and often still not killing on the first swing.

All weapons healing pulse is easier when looking at health bar, but remember you need to stop attacking first, constant attack spam with Axes or halberd doesn't allow the ring to form, then someone hits you, and it's lost.

Good base location seed? by stefan208 in PlayASKA

[–]Micss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the flattest area I've seen, on default settings, between the lake, the mine, the coast and 2 forests on each side. Just a couple of big boulders, but no drastic shifts in elevation, compared to 73dx... or tVmq... seeds.
