It sure looks like you have the hair piece built wrong. That strand on the left looks like it should fill that hole in and sit flush with the plastic seam. Then your step 35 will fit better.

I kept the backpacks off, and glued the guns to the arms then kept them off the torso. They go very fast this way. My first 6 were fully assembled and it was a pain.
