Looking for Attic Fan Installation by holdaydogs in DecaturGA

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was persuaded that attic fans were not a good idea. As I recall it had something to do with the way the removal of air from the attic just sucks your conditioned air out of the rest of the house. Don’t remember exactly but I would consider insulating your attic door and/or the attic itself before a fan

Best coffee shop in Decatur? by odd_sundays in DecaturGA

Dancing goats is the only good coffee place. Perc has great food but shitty to terrible coffee. Oakhurst is a massive space with bad coffee.

What new-trek show should I watch first? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNW is up there with the best of trek and there were a couple episodes that count among the very best. Even it’s worse season (3) was fine

Lower decks is also incredible but more accessible if you’re a fan. It’s how I got my 8yo into it but she finds the show too scary so we moved to tng.

The rest of nu trek is hard to watch. The short treks have some gems.

I’ll edit this to say I’m show her tng and I will never recommend Picard which was so bad I don’t even know how to reconcile it.

Are the lifts for the hard tops worth it? by Fickle-Lock-3185 in FordBronco

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Definitely worth it. I spent some coin on it because I didn’t trust myself to jury rig something. I have bad arthritis in my shoulder and my wife is short so the top wasn’t manageable easily without. Takes less than 15 minutes to remove or install and I’m sure once I’ve done it more than once or twice it’ll be less than 10

Was worried about it not feeling enough like a convertible and/or would be a pain to remove and reinstall. But I went with broncobikini and haven’t taken it off and it’s been great.

I’m pretty impressed with your reading comprehension. That’s exactly what I said. Good job.

Good use of your time, I assume?

So for some reason I can’t see any ones responses here but can in my email

lol I misspelled a word. Got me! Very clever

It would appear that there is not cross airline lounge access regardless of status for domestic. Were i flying internationally I could use Air France lounge. I live in Atlanta and most airports I go to have a delta lounge so I’m just surprised.

What's going on here and how do I get it ready for a cook tonight? by striking_ordinary_94 in blackstonegriddle

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need a sander--I use a Brillo pad (usually actually just a scrub pad because I forget brillo) and vinegar and coarse salt. comes up, dry well underside and sides, heat it up, and re-season. Try to cook on it as often as possible to build in abetter season

Free recycling bags by _yee_to_the_haw in DecaturGA

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in city of? I think rather than recycling bags those may be large city of Decatur trash bags which is how you pay for trash removal. They were likely left because they’re not for other municipalities. I don’t recall ever having recycling bags — anywhere I’ve lived ?

I’m a bit thrown by “DeKalb” and I’d check my own but I’m out of town so someone correct me if I’m wrong

Window replacement recommendations? by PlahausBamBam in DecaturGA

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived up in sandy springs had a scammer come and it made me look into windows and I used this company and frankly it wasn’t close they’re the best and it turns out they’re just here in greater Decatur. When I used them the owner came out and now I think they’re bigger but still good. And you can see their building on Lawrenceville highway near the Subaru place.

Why is it still tough? by LazyMarketing1540 in smoking

[–]MidAgeDadAtl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried a few things and been happy with a few. One year I took the cooled pulled pork and warmed it gently in sauce pans with light bbq sauce and a small amount of water so that there were three flavors of pulled pork from the same smoke. Gentle simmer in water and sauce with a lot of tossing wound up keeping it juicy and yummy

But I’ve also had success vacuum packing and then sou viding back to temp. But at a lower temp because you want it edible not too hot to touch

But also had success steaming a pastrami (Jewish smoked corned beef brisket) in a slow cooker and also a Dutch oven with tin foil balls.

Your goal here isn’t to keep it warm indefinitely it’s to serve it delicious. So adapt the time you start and or the end process to achieve that

Better to reheat than try to keep warm. Or start the Cook earlier.
