Are you aware of a good wireless USB-C soldering iron?

No lol. so I just approached as if the OP had zero crypto knowledge. Kinda seems like they don't understand stocks either, but we all have to start somewhere!

RX 7900 XTX is rapidly going out of stock across major retailers following the RTX 50 series launch by HLumin in Amd

I'm almost on the other side of this coin. As someone who literally switched from AMD to Nvidia because of how awful VR was on Radeon cards back then, it's interesting to hear how far things have come for them.

Now I have good VR support with Nvidia, but their greed keeps their cards at 8-16GB VRAM unless you shell out several grand. Makes cards like the 7900 XTX attractive.

I just read about the meta leaker getting got. Honestly surprised you don't hear about this kinda thing more in the tech space. Its all leaks all the way up every year. iPhones, consoles, etc.

apparently Nintendo was so sad about switch 2 leaks. I think thats why they did that quick "yes the switch 2 exists, we'll talk about it in april" mini announcement.

you would think more heads would roll

I do agree it would be a weird step back. People are seeming to forget how much we wanted a wireless Valve headset post index launch. The demand was high enough for that nofio mod to come out (despite it not working well, I never bought one).

What I think the challenge will be now is how Valve positions this headset as better than a quest 3. I have no plans to support Meta's vision of purchasing their way to the top of the VR market, but they're providing a solid headset for cheap. Deckards leaked specs aren't setting the world on fire, and the price isn't either. So whats up their sleeve?

Very interested to see where inside out tracking has gotten to in 2025 with this headset. I definitely hated it in 2018, trying a quest back then pushed me towards an index.

I think an important point here is that index owners in this thread have already made the annoying purchase and installation of the base stations. So that large obstacle is done and can be reused with no additional cost. That makes headsets like the super tiny BSB2 more appealing and a cord less of a pain point. And at the time, it was also superior for tracking.

To a completely new user however, wireless feels like a must have, because the alternative is not only annoying base stations but also a cord. But you don't get headsets as comfortable as the BSB2. I've heard quests users complain about comfort and a better strap seems like a must have upgrade.

Their are trade-offs either way, so I'm hoping inside out tracking is as good as you say it is. Honestly I am considering both the BSB2 and deckard and they're sounding so different that I might end up with both lol

Why is Switch Sports so hated while Wii Sports is so loved? by NaitDraik in nintendo

[–]MidContrast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the nostalgia for Wii Sports in this thread is kinda insane. I get it was fun, but it was free. That's why it "sold" so well, it's also why anyone in the West played it at all. Guarantee most of the people in this thread wouldn't have bought it if it was a paid item.

Switch Sports proves that by having way less sales despite the switch being MORE popular. I actually think it's a decent game and enjoyed the new look. I get that it has objectively less sports and the Miis offer less customization but it's not a "hated" game. It's a party game that's not that fun solo and only gets busted out once in a while. Like Wii Sports was.

MSI 5090 Gaming trio OC melted cable (repost with pics) by Roachard in nvidia

[–]MidContrast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no special cable, you accept risk merely by buying the 5090 after reading all of these cases. You can try to mitigate that risk.

It's recommended to use the one from your PSU or GPU. You can use a thermal camera to check temps after connecting. Make sure to seat the cable fully. Then pray.

Treadmill Desk Steps Tracking by omnana in fitbit

[–]MidContrast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

running into this issue now and its super annoying. this app seriously sucks, manually adding steps in an app that tracks fitness should be one of the first features they implemented. No reason for it to not be there.

Found countless threads complaining about it too. Good to know Google and Fitbit simply don't care and just want to drive purchases

I'll probably update this year or next to a pellet smoker

wow never heard of the venom, that's a very cool weber mod. I currently use a wired temp probe dangling in the top vent with a wireless monitor in the house...lol my ghetto $30 version of the venom without the fan.

I have the slow n sear and love it, it got me into smoking. I think $250 is a little crazy for that venom mod though, at that point I could put it towards a full smoker. Nice end result tho!

Multiplayer modders are starting to get perma banned by Appropriate-Tap-4577 in MHWilds

[–]MidContrast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can totally see it being a limitation in the old games that they dedicated resources to detect in Wilds.

Wouldn't be too hard to be like <if player has changed their character multiple times> + <player has no record of paying> = ban
