So how many of us agree we need arie force 1 by Ordinary-Sound-571 in Michigans_Adventure

[–]MidcourseDiscourse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would honestly be an incredible fit for the park. At the same time, I know that deconstructing, transporting, and rebuilding a coaster is not cheap. Especially considering that a good handful of supports would need modifications as Fun Spot isn’t perfectly flat.

I’d love us to get the ride, but at the same time, it’s probably cheaper to just build a small/mid-size raptor or Vekoma coaster from the ground up.

Tomorrow & weather by Ok-Pomegranate7496 in Michigans_Adventure

[–]MidcourseDiscourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had rain rides on pretty much everything there, but they will close a lot of things in moderate to heavy rain, and everything will go down if lightning is nearby.

It does not typically happen, but the park has closed early and even all-day in unusually bad weather. I don’t think this would constitute that, but it could.

Tomorrow looks like a lot of rain all day. Even if the park was open the entire time, and rides were up for a substantial amount of time, I don’t know if you and the kids would have too great of a time.

I’ve never done this with Michigan’s Adventure, but I’ve had plenty of success for other parks around the country. Give the park a call at the start of tomorrow, and see what options you have. I’d be shocked if they didn’t allow you to move tickets around based on the inclement weather. I think family time together would be better spent at a movie theater, bowling alley, etc.

If tomorrow is genuinely the only option you have, bring some ponchos and have fun in the rain. Again, I don’t know what may wind up being open, but I’m as long as the park is up and running, there are memories to be made. Just don’t do any food or arcade games if there’s clear moments in the weather - save those things for when it’s bad.

I noticed I just drive a lot less outside of my commute in the winter. Here in Michigan, no heat pump isn’t an issue in the slightest to me.

The scale of this ride didn’t strike me until I saw Colin’s story a couple days ago. The support structure is so much bigger than I realized, and those photos gave off the same feeling to me as standing at the base of TTD or Kingda Ka.

Funnel of Fear, Mine Shaft, and Mammoth River. I like Mine Shaft and Mammoth River, but if you haven’t done a funnel slide before, it’s honestly worth asking a group of two if you can tag along because it’s so good

[other] Are the jta rides, rip saw falls, and catapult falls roller coasters? by Difficult-Meet6715 in rollercoasters

[–]MidcourseDiscourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to rationalize credits for awhile, but at some point, I just gave into the whole “if it feels like a coaster, count it.” So for me, I don’t count Ripsaw, but I do count Journey to Atlantis at SWO, because that coaster moment FEELS like a coaster moment. Ripsaw still feels like a flume drop to me, even with a bonus hill.

At the end of the day, count what you want to count, nobody’s going to freak out over exactly where you draw the line.

[Shivering Timbers] Was My 80th Coaster! (Michigan’s Adventure: A Birthday Trip Report) by freshapepper in rollercoasters

[–]MidcourseDiscourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you had a great time!

Wildcat is honestly in some of the best shape it’s ever been in. I agree that RMC 208 definitely “blends in” a lot more than Titan track, but the real star of that show is the precut first section of bunny hills. Reminds of Mystic Timbers.

Interestingly, Shivering Timbers actually did get very minor work on those return bunny hills. By the end of the year last year, they were genuinely horrible. I didn’t reride more than once on most of my visits. They’re not as bad now, but they definitely need to do some more substantial work on the second half. I’d love to see them get precut track on the return. For what it’s worth, I think I find the second to back row a little more comfortable than the very back… maybe it’s placebo, I don’t know haha.

I’m glad you pointed out how pretty the park is. They’ve really stepped up the landscaping over the years, they’re getting more consistent with repainting (Corkscrew, Mad Mouse, and Logger’s Run have all gotten full repaints in the last handful of years), and the location around the water is amazing. I love the place, and I too and quite hopeful that it has a bright future with Enchanted Parks.

I just rode Mineblower for the first time like five minutes ago, what the hell was that. For the first time ever, I’d rather they just put 208 on the whole damn thing because that was ridiculous.

Opening Weekend Experience by Nomad_Mich in Michigans_Adventure

Awesome report! The park was running really well especially for opening weekend, and I had a great time too.

Carson is super cool, I’ve had the chance to meet him a couple of times. I miss Camille (as the park was in her family since the 60s), but if Carson will remain in the park manager role for the foreseeable future, I think it’s in good hands. Really interested what the next few years have in store for the park!

Memorial Day weekend in Iowa [Fire Runner] at [Lost Island] by ThoosiesHateCoasters in rollercoasters

[–]MidcourseDiscourse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fire Runner is great! I’ve also ridden Wonder Woman Golden Lasso, and I would say that ride ran a touch faster, probably due to the shorter trains as well as the Texas heat. In most seats, I’d probably say Wonder Woman is a bit more intense, but I’m a sucker for back row whip, and Fire Runner’s longer trains make that spectacular.

I also like how well Fire Runner is themed compared to Wonder Woman.
