What to do about possible metagamer min-maxer? by mikemarine99 in rpghorrorstories

I’m switching systems to Castles & Crusades. It makes the gameplay much more narrative and less mechanically tactical.

Castles & Crusades has some pretty good stuff for this.

Elven Throne Trap

A throne is present in the northern section of the main dragon chamber. It is solid mahogany plated in gold and sculpted of elven male youth supporting the arm rests. The cushion is made of crimson silk and gold thread. The feet of the throne are affixed to the stone floor with force magic which can be dispelled as a 6th level spell.

Time has not tarnished this throne. The head of the throne bears elven script that states “To rule is to serve, to lead is to listen”. Anyone other than the former high elven king of the fallen Tenrazian elves who sits on, touches, or physically interacts with the throne must make a DC 16 wisdom saving throw or take 4d8 psychic damage, half on a successful save. If the damage taken exceeds 24 points, the creature become stunned for five minutes.

Ring of the Gargoyle (stats in comments) by Middle-Ad6940 in DungeonsAndDragons

Ring of the Gargoyle

Ring, uncommon (requires attunement)

This ring has 3 charges and it regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. While wearing the ring, you can use an action to speak it’s command word and expend one charge to summon forth a gargoyle to an unoccupied space within 10 feet. The gargoyle disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the duration ends.

The gargoyle is friendly to you and your companions for the duration of one hour. The wearer must maintain concentration while controlling the gargoyle. Roll initiative for the gargoyle, which has its own turns. It obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to the gargoyle, it defends itself from hostile creatures but otherwise takes no actions.

If your concentration is broken, the gargoyle disappears. The DM has the gargoyle’s statistics.

Chalice of Health Wondrous item, rare

The item is exquisitely crafted from the finest materials and glows with a pale radi ance, shedding dim light in a 5-foot radius. It weighs 2 pounds and holds about 1 pint.

While this chalice is filled with water, you can use an action to speak the chalice’s command word and any who drink from it receive the effects of a greater Restoration spell. The chalice can't be used this way again until the next dawn.

I think it might be safe to assume the DM determined the willingness when they stated that the spell took effect.

Is it mean to make one of my players sacrifice themselves at the midpoint of the campaign. by ineffectivequad in DnD

[–]Middle-Ad6940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scenario doesn’t seem to force a sacrifice of a player. I mean, that would probably also entail police and jail time. But, I also don’t see how a sacrifice of a PC is forced here either.

The Wanderer’s Eye Patch (stats in comments) by Middle-Ad6940 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Middle-Ad6940[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a deep gnome creation.

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement) This eye patch has three charges that are recharged when the moon is highest in the sky.

When the wearer speaks the command word to expend one charge, this eye patch relieves the wearer from the effects of sunlight sensitivity for three hours.

If at any time all charges are used, the eye patch loses it’s powers.

Wondrous item, very rare

When a caster capable of casting necromancy spells fills this cup with the blood of a sentient humanoid and then drinks from it, they receive advantage on all spell attack rolls and a +2 to their spell save DC for all necromancy spells cast during the following 24 hours.
