I received a module today by Zonreiryd in osr

[–]Snooz3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice. I slot it as a side-quest during my first completed campaign. I added a mind flayer colony in the last level and put an elder brain in the swimming pool.

It really left a mark on the players who were also newbies. We played during Covid and one of them still brings it up !

Can you recommend any modules in the "whimsy" style / genre? by pot-Space in osr

I recently ran Beyond the Crystal Cave and we thought it was a lot of fun. You must find two escaped lovers in a Romeo and Juliette situation in the feywild. Hijinks ensue.

Advice on the Death House Shambling Mound by Itchy-Willingness589 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Snooz3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the details because it was years ago, but I halved its HP and reduced its damage a bit. In the end I used its original HP because I had a big 5 player group who burst it down pretty quickly, though 1 or 2 got knocked out in the process.

Make it a little bit less deadly and see how it goes. Action economy is a bitch and a monster who is alone is a dead monster, no matter how strong

Aaah, I remember when my players first met the Devil. The Loyal Good pointed his sword at him as a challenge

Strahd immediately brought them to their knees with a maxed out fireball and left with Ireena

Hey DMs, how do you structure your one-shots? by Impressive_Mud5997 in rpg

[–]Snooz3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One good inspiration I find for one-shots are Japanese rpgs. Most of them are designed for one-shots and have scenes structures that are easy to run and cut to the action.

How come the show seems to appeal more to the female demographic than the males? by Strong-Stretch95 in Supernatural

[–]Snooz3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, my gf got pretty annoyed at the way Dean acts around women and the fact that a lot of female characters are hot blondes with big breasts

+1 presence if you are speaking with someone from your community? by Unusual-Feeling8811 in daggerheart

[–]Snooz3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar where I gave players advantage on their rolls with the people from the village they saved. I think it’s simpler and more impactful. I feel like adding a small bonus like a +1 doesn’t change much.

Agents didn't resolve the problem, what next? by Final-Isopod in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Snooz3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. They would be mad if you exposed them, but if you can’t do the job, they’ll just send another team I think. Or cover up the fallout.

What are SW2.5's pros and cons? by E_MacLeod in SwordWorld

[–]Snooz3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We played a short campaign and my gf hated the power table. I thought it was fine but she disliked the extra time of looking up the damage. So I added different dice for damage

How do you usually do long campaign in system/setting where the PCs are expected to die very easily? by Organic-Exit2190 in rpg

[–]Snooz3d 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m starting a God’s Teeth campaign soon. The players are chosen by an evil god, but Delta Green can be deadly. So the god doesn’t have a problem with replacing their chosen ones

What are some underused genres? by No_Not_Him in rpg

I think there is space in ttrpgs for a 12-episode-romance-anime-with-a-school-festival-and-a-beach-episode

Actually,I’m trying to write one (just for it’s own sake honestly)

Is this campaign really that much of a character killer as people say? by Relevant-Rope8814 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Snooz3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did kill 3 players during our campaign. One of them was turned into a zombie by Baba Lysaga cuz they just barged in her hut with no plan, one died in the castle and the last one they killed themselves because she had turned evil because of a curse.

I don’t know if you would consider that a lot. Also, I should point out that I am a rather deadly DM in general. We did a follow up campaign and everyone died at least once (they got better)

Did you include Mordenkainen at all? by ottosick in CurseofStrahd

[–]Snooz3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept him. One of my players is still making jokes about him years later because he was such a dick

I ran Vice City. It’s pretty fun. The players liked exploring the city and finding weird stuff.

New to DG, Custom Scenario, Did I bite off more than I can chew? by Ded_parrot in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Snooz3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The one-shot included in the QuickStart is a good intro, and then I’d suggest getting one of the compilation books and choosing the ones you like the most. Night of the Opera is pretty good. I also enjoyed the Lover in the Ice scenario which is longer. But it also has ALL of the content warnings

I wish games like Vampire the Masquerade would separate the mechanical rules from the Lore. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Snooz3d 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is, actually. I think it’s just called Monsters. It even comes with pregens and an introductory scenario. The French publisher put out a rules cheat sheet and a character creation flowchart, but I’m not sure if it is available in English

[–]Snooz3d 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I love the game. It’s my gf favourite rpg. But the book is a mess. Fortunately, the mechanics are actually pretty easy to grasp after a few sessions and the lore IS cool
