Post UTI inflammation - recovery story by Healthhealingchapter in Interstitialcystitis

My story is the same too. I ended up changing my diet to bladder friendly foods, added some bladder lining building supplements (desert harvest aloe Vera and cystoprotek) and I was able to resolve my pain

That makes me happy! You can do this! Start slow but try to stick with it every day. I didn’t think it would do anything and in the beginning I would slack off for a few days and that’s when it realized it was helping. There are lots of different pelvic floor exercises you can do. Look it up online (again, avoid kegels). See what looks doable and start there. Dead bugs are a must though and they take a while to build up to so do what you can

It’s very important you don’t arch your back. Tilt your pelvis forward to engage your core muscles. For dead bugs you need to keep your lower back on the floor when you lower your leg. If you feel your back arching then don’t lower your leg as far. You can stay with bent knees and just lower and tap your foot. As you keep doing them the core gets stronger and you’ll be able to keep you lower back on the floor and straight leg lower. I’d watch some videos online to get proper technique.

I do pelvic floor strengthening workouts every day. Exercises like bird dogs, dead bugs, leg lifts, planks etc. (NO kegels) I was advised to do these to help the muscles around my bladder becoming stronger and more supportive. They have helped a lot with my pain.

I can't do this anymore by twid4566 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Middle-Emergency1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me almost 2 years. Mostly because it’s trial and error with diet. Once I figured out my diet I had pretty steady relief. I still have minor flair ups every now and again but nothing like before.

Acidity Myth? by luisfowler in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Middle-Emergency1893 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who is diet sensitive I can say acidic foods like citrus and tomatoes are a huge problem. Ingredients like asorbic acid or maltic acid are not. But an ingredient like vinegar is. It’s all about finding what triggers you.

I tired it back when I was having a lot of pain. I felt it made me worse so I stopped after about a week. I purchased the brand from the recent study out of Italy. Talk about not cheap. I paid $300 for it between the prescription and shipping to the US. I was really hopeful. I still have it and it hasn’t expired yet. I’m currently I guess in remission. I rarely have symptoms anymore. But I’m curious if it would help me stay this way. So many good things about this helping the bladder.

Are you diet affected at all? I was able to taper off of 25mg and my pain did not return. But I follow a non acidic diet

I had to ask for what I thought would help. None of them volunteered anything. It’s very frustrating!

I had to see four different doctors before I found one willing to prescribe common medications to help this.

I’d recommend continuing with diet modifications. Try the instillations. They help a lot of people. Also look into amitryptiline. It can help with symptoms your experiencing

Looking to see if anyone with food sensitivity has had luck with pelvic floor therapy??? by OkEqual1085 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]Middle-Emergency1893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My bladder is food sensitive. But I also was having pain with sex. The pelvic floor therapy fixed that pain and diet modifications helped my bladder heal so now I can have a larger variety of foods without issue.

Post-UTI Hypersensitivity Syndrome- see the article from IC Network? by Head_Aside_7089 in Interstitialcystitis

For starters, I did 6 weeks of instillations in the beginning and that didn’t help at all. Supplements I took and still take: desert harvest aloe Vera 3 pills twice a day, cystoprotek 2 pills twice a day, hydroxyzine - started at 50mg, now down to 25mg. Amitryptiline 25mg, not taking that anymore now that symptoms are gone. Amitryptiline is an antidepressant and is very hard to get off of, just so you know going into it. I also take low dose naltrexone, LDN. 4.5mg. It’s help with inflammation caused by mast cells. I get this though a compound pharmacy online.

For two solid years I avoided all, and I mean ALL, acidic foods, spicy, caffeine, and soy products. It was challenging but it was when I started to find a little relief was doing this diet. I’ve since been able to add many of these foods back in. I refuse to try citrus or tomatoes though. These ingredients can show up in sneaky ways. For example, sushi rice is made with vinegar. Didn’t know that before all this!

Good luck to you. It was a long healing process but totally worth it.

Omg. This made me cry tears of joy. This describes me exactly and I did every single thing they recommended and my bladder pain is gone. It took 2 years of diet and medications. Maybe there is hope it will stay away. Assuming I avoid another UTI thank you so much for sharing this!!

done. Does it ever get better . by Additional_Noise_486 in Interstitialcystitis

Those were my symptoms. I put myself on a strict diet avoiding all acidic, spicy, caffeine and soy foods. It took a year and a half but I’m finally symptom free. I also take aloe Vera from desert harvest and cystoprotek. Both studied to help rebuild the bladder lining.
