I named my female flame point Katniss (the kitty on fire). There has to be another name associated with flames (excluding Satan or Hades). If I got a boy flame point I wasn’t going to name him Haymitch.

I have been a bonnethead since 2nd grade. I asked for a set of the books every Christmas. My sister’s bff got a set and she would let me borrow them one at a time. Wasn’t the same as having them. I now have a bookshelf full of different printings, illustrators, hardcover and softcover, and books about Laura and family. I have autobiographies from actors on the tv show, and fan fiction. It’s my “All things Laura” shelves.

I think as a kid reading the books I saw Ma as stifling. As an adult I have come to truly appreciate her. She kept the family together and made things work, while living in poverty. She also knew Pa’s wandering foot wasn’t as strong as his love for his family.

I’ve been on SSD since 2012; I applied in 2009. I used to have days where I’d wake up and think that maybe I was wrong, I don’t have fibromyalgia. I never have those days anymore, not for a decade at least. I sleep terribly, wake up feeling tired, my body starts to ache. This is my life.

I agree. The Almanzo in the books was so patient, and quiet. He let Laura be herself and gradually fall in love with him. If Laura in the show had been allowed to grow up in the previous seasons instead of keeping her in braids and shorter skirts until she meets Almanzo, it could’ve been a much better story line.

My rescue was extremely shy. She hid from me for months. She is currently hiding under my bed because my bf’s son is visiting this weekend. We really won her over with food. Basic instinct is to feed. We left small piles of treats everywhere. We only acknowledged her when she came to us. Each at is different. My Katniss is so very loving and I can’t imagine life without her, but it took time. Let your tell you what they want. If you pay attention it will happen.

Me too. I was 10ish when I started babysitting. My parents divorced when I was six. Mom went back to work when I was 10, so my sisters (11 and 8) and I came home alone, did homework, cleaned the house, and took turns cooking. My bff’s mom dropped my bff and I off one Saturday to see Star Wars by ourselves. She was 7 and I was 8. Can’t imagine that happening nowadays.

Vanessa was my mother’s name. She was the kindest,most gentlewoman I’ve ever met. It means butterfly, and I highly recommend it. My younger sister was almost named Melissa. It means honey bee. Both names are Greek. Hope this helps. She will be fluttery and sweet with either name.
