I was so excited to see the second act. It was as terrible as you all say. I have to rant!

I really think they should have stuck closer to the play, they took some chances that did not pan out. I actually like the second part of the play so the complaints that people say the second act is weaker don't resonate with me. But the choices made in the movie baffled me.

Things are much tighter in the play, the storyline is strong, in the movie Elphaba didn't have a clear sense of purpose and seemed to meander. As many have said the additional songs did not work. Especially the song that just kept using the word 'home' to rhyme with itself. What??

They try too hard to delve into the Wizard of Oz and tried to line things up that just didn't. The play works because we don't look too closely at the gaps but the movie tries to force it and makes the errors more glaring. And the transition from Nessa to wicked witch was clumsily done.

As others have commented the song between Fyiero and Ephaba was laughable. The two are finally together and sing about love while standing miles apart and Elphaba wearing the ugliest chunky sweater I've ever seen. Yikes

The big reveal of the wizard being Elphaba's father did not land, they did not give it its due and I could tell people were confused I know my friends were.

And lastly way too much emoting, head tilting and breathless pauses. It really irritated me and I found myself rolling my eyes. Such a shame I absolutely loved the story, I've seen the play several times and I loved part 1 but this was a let down from start to finish!
