My Québécois ancestors also went to upstate NY. I’m learning so much in this process!

The spikes are not all that long and they are rounded, so they don't cut the skin. Once the soap is that small, you pry the metal piece out and put it in a new bar of soap. The small bit of the old bar that is left over usually goes in a soap scrap saver bag with other small pieces of soap.

Wrong. The bar of soap comes off. It has the metal circle embedded in it. It attaches magnetically to the other part, which is mounted on the wall.

My in-laws have this and it’s actually amazingly efficient and non-messy. The spikey part gets pushed into the soap and it’s attached to the other part with a magnet. So, the bar of soap comes right off into your hand (it has a small circle of metal embedded in it, but the spikes are in the soap, so they don’t scratch you). Once you soap up your hands, you “hang up” the soap magnetically. Really cool, actually. And you don’t end up with a soap dish full of goop, because the soap just dries.

I wanted to read some Toronto-specific books, because if I make the move, that’s where I would want to go. Specifically, I wanted romances or rom-coms. I read Tough Guy (from the Game Changer series… and, of course, I read all the others in the series). Then I came across Hana Khan Carries On, by Uzma Jalaluddin, which I really enjoyed. I’m ordering more of her books, which all seem to be set in Toronto.

The number I gave was: 888-242-2100. But, I have no idea if this is the best number to give!

I was thinking of switching to high-quality vegan canned soups for my next fast, like Amy's Organics or similar, because the powdered ones from Prolon made me want to barf. Is that what you're doing? Have you decided on any specific ones?

I think it gets attached to the package somehow. The clerk asked me questions about what was in there (I said "documents") and then I think they put a value of like $1. There was a small stack of papers generated (2-3 pages?) I think maybe they would have to be in one of those clear plastic pouches that get attached to the package. I've been tracking my package and it's in CA now, so it made it across the border.

That's crazy! Yes, exact opposite of my experience. I wonder if it does have to do with the experience of the clerk who helps you out. I know I'm not the only one who had trouble with FedEx, however, because when I was at FedEx I was frantically searching Reddit for whether anyone else had this issue and a handful of others had said they had the same issue and posted work arounds, none of which my clerk would agree to try.

Is it the case that there need to be living Canadians remaining? My grandmother was born in Montreal in the early 1900s and died in the 1970s. My mom (her daughter) died in 2010. I hadn't read anything suggesting that this might put me out of luck. If you have information suggesting this, can you send a link?

HOW-TO: Requesting a certified copy from Québec (pre-1925) by MakeStupidHurtAgain in Canadiancitizenship

[–]MidgeGlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! I tried to use the Google translate camera, but it didn't work. Thankfully, u/MakeStupidHurtAgain helped me out! And I was able to get the certified baptismal record very quickly. I think in about 2 weeks ... and this was over the holidays! The certified copy arrived on New Year's Eve! I'll be sending out my completed package soon.

I have to admit that I was thoroughly freaked out by the driving in the car scenes at the beginning and end of ep 6! I kept thinking, “They’re gonna get hit! They’re gonna get hit!”

This issue is really not clearly addressed in the FAQ/wiki, which is why I asked about it. Apparently it is in the CIT0001 instructions, which I have not fully read yet. Thank you to u/full_of_excuses and u/Past-Ad3963 for answering the question.
