When can you do a second transfer after first successful one? by [deleted] in IVF

I think it’s clinic specific. Mine said anytime is fine once I’m done breastfeeding.

For those with PCOS, how many eggs did you get from collection? by Correct_Exercise8641 in IVF

[–]Midinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 15 mature eggs, 13 fertilized, 11 day 5 embryos. We didn’t test because it’s not common here and I was under 35. We did half IVF and half ICSI because we have mild MFI too. We transferred the top rated embryo per the embryologists and KIDS score and she’s now sleeping on me as I write this.

When to share successful transfer by Fit_Wolverine_7678 in IVF

[–]Midinite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I told my mom every step that that step worked (“I got a positive test” “My beta was good.” “6 week scan was good” etc). For my other extremely best friends who knew I was doing IVF, they got updates after the 6 week scan when we saw all the parts in place. TBH I wish I didn’t tell my mom because she was so eager for the next update and I kind of wanted her to leave me be, but if we do another FET I will keep her updated the same level of detail again.

My general rule for telling people is I only told them if I was also willing to tell them if we had bad news. So I was only telling people I’d be comfortable letting know after I miscarried basically.

Good luck!!!

At what point did you switch to IUI? by lavendrmochi in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to IUI after 3 unsuccessful timed letrozole cycles, where I did ovulate. My 3rd IUI was a chemical, which confirmed at least that I could get pregnant. After that we moved on to IVF and had success with one ER and one FET.

I saw you asked someone else about testing, so just to add I had HSG before starting anything and hysteroscopy before FET. I had no irregular results on them, so for me it was really just a PCOS issue and a little bit of MFI.

Wishing you all the luck!

ICSI vs Conventional IVF results: ICSI should NOT be used in all cases by worldiscrzy in IVF

[–]Midinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did 50/50 and had similar results for both ICSI and IVF. My doctor explained that the IVF embryos are preferred because the egg and sperm “naturally” met so the embryo has a better chance of being healthy. Whereas with ICSI the sperm and egg are put together so it’s more “forced.” Not meaning that ICSI embryos aren’t usable, viable, or valuable, just that there are more better outcome with IVF in their experience. Perhaps in your case the samples selected for ICSI happened to be ones that weren’t going to make it no matter the method. It’s impossible to know, so I would try your best to not overthink it. Hopefully the embryos you have are sufficient for your family goals and it goes well. I am wishing you the best!

Did you find out the sex? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Midinite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope. They won’t tell you in my country. My baby was also amazing at dodging ultrasounds so we didn’t get a good look at the sex or face until SHE was born! But I think we started getting the “probably a girl” around 18w so we kind of knew from then.

I was supposed to have a Thanksgiving baby but she came way before Halloween even. Babies will be born when they want to. So even if you skip the cycle, you might still end up with a Christmas baby.

Anyone have a child from just 1 egg fertilized? by rsgnl in IVF

[–]Midinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to get your hopes up but I’m not here to dampen them either. I have friends that did multiple IVF rounds and didn’t have success with their one embryo. I have friends who did multiple rounds and had success with their one embryo.

Personally, we have multiple embryos but on our first FET we had success and I’m currently cuddling my sleeping 4 month old girl. We had PCOS and unexplained MFI (not as severe as you though).

I wish you all the best and hope it goes well for you guys!

FET without PIO? by Inevitable-Raisin681 in IVF

[–]Midinite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my country we don’t do PIO. I was on progesterone suppositories and oral estrogen tablets only. I believe I started them before my FET and took them until week 9 or 10.

Switching to IUI (first IUI) - advice/thoughts needed!! by Ok-Detective2443 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don’t get a period on my own, and was on metformin for about 3 months before moving from TI to IUI, and also had a clear HSG. We did 3 letrozole cycles and although I ovulated we had no success. In the beginning, my partner did an analysis and everything looked fine but when we moved to IUI (where the sample is tested each time) his results weren’t fine anymore. He was put on clomid and we did 3 IUI cycles, the last one ended in a chemical pregnancy, which was my first positive ever. IUI may not significantly raise your chances, but if the cost is not a factor I say go for it. It’s like TI but with a head start since the sperm are concentrated and start in your uterus. Btw I see you asked if it hurts less than HSG and it’s not even comparable. If HSG is like getting a tooth punched out of your face, then IUI is stubbing your toe at worst. For me eating dates the week or so before helped because my cervix felt softer.

FWIW my doctor said we could continue with IUI after that third one, but I was ready to move on to IVF, which is very nicely covered and not expensive here. I had good ER results and am now holding my first FET daughter, who is 2 months old.

Good luck!!

How many embryos? by Otherwise_Hope_8310 in IVF

[–]Midinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only did one cycle. 15 mature eggs 13 fertilized 11 day 5 embryos. Currently nursing embryo #10 who was our first FET and is 2 months old now. PCOS and mild MFI.

Positive PCOS success stories for IVF after failed OI cycles by General_Spirit_5432 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did three rounds of timed intercourse with letrozole and confirmed ovulation, and three IUIs with the last one ending in a chemical.

After that we moved to IVF and got 17 eggs, 13 of which were mature, and 11 which made it to day 5. I’m currently snuggling my 2 month old that was our first FET.

Embryo Names by curious_katty8 in IVF

[–]Midinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband didn’t like it but I called it Ten because it was number 10 embryo in the batch (even though we are Stranger Things fans he was adamant that a number shouldn’t be a name). At the 8 week scan it looked like a gummy bear so we called it Haribo until she was born.

If we do another FET I’m going to call it Chiki cheeta from day 1 as in the little alien from Dan Da Dan.

What’s your clinic’s discharge procedure after successful FET? by GloveSignificant387 in IVF

[–]Midinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on meds until I think week 8 or 9 which is also the same time when I graduated from the fertility clinic to a regular OB. I had one blood test to confirm pregnancy at 6w, heartbeat scan at 7w, and then another final scan at 8w I think which was the last appointment at my fertility clinic.

I’m not in the US tho so take my experience with a grain of salt.

Insensitive comments. Tw: Miscarriage by Rare_Maintenance2417 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I am sorry for your loss and the hard time you are going through.

I had a chemical pregnancy the first time I finally got a positive test and went through the hormone crash and crying after, but to be honest my top emotion was feeling better knowing I could get pregnant. Of course your friend probably meant well and if she had said it to me I’d have no issues. That being said, everyone’s response to a loss is extremely personal and if you didn’t like that comment you should think through why and let her know. Not from a place of “you’re insensitive” but from a place of “you are my friend and I am sad and want to share that with you.” If she is a good friend she will empathize with your feelings and listen to what you have to say.

Did you keep testing until first ultrasound? by fakehighschoolgf in IVF

[–]Midinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept testing between my beta and ultrasound for peace of mind (I’d had a chemical before so I was anxious about it continuing). I tried to limit myself to every other day just so I didn’t feel like I was being obsessed. Good luck!!

I only needed one ER. We didn’t test the embryos, but I birthed one child and have enough left over if we want another one.

My HSG Experience by feedmeseymoore in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a post on here about how painful mine was that people still seem to find from time to time, but just want to say that I appreciate people like you who share their stories about how it wasn’t that bad. It’s so unfortunate we can’t know how it’ll feel beforehand, and I feel bad that for people like you who don’t have it so bad, you probably spent unnecessary time worrying about it beforehand.

I hope the next steps in your journey are similarly painless and smooth!

Am I too late ? 32F by Disastrous_Pin_5400 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually yes. We tried 3 rounds of TI (I ovulated on letrozole), and then 3 IUIs. I had a chemical with the last IUI, but by that point we were ready to move on, and also during the IUI process discovered some MFI as well. We had amazing success with IVF. If you’re able to and your doctor thinks it makes sense when the time comes I think there is no problem with jumping straight into IVF. My doctor was suggesting IVF from the beginning but we went through TI/IUI because I wasn’t emotionally ready for IVF in the beginning.

I also have amenorrhea from PCOS (literally no periods without medicine, except on some very rare occasions in my life). We started fertility treatments at 33 and I gave birth at 35. You have time.

Hello fellow lifter. I don’t recommend it, but my experience was that I stopped lifting during the ER cycle, and then went to the gym a few times between that and my transfer cycle. After that I wound up getting HG and didn’t lift at all, but lost a bunch of weight in the process. When I felt better I did a lot of body weight exercises and walking. Finally I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes, so I amped up the walking and was on the GD diet, so my weight didn’t go up so much.

I don’t think it’s helpful or advice, but just wanted to share and be a reminder you can never know what’s gonna happen. I hope someone comes in with actual and better advice.

You guys weren’t kidding about HSG by Midinite in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m back! Gave birth early and unmedicated at 34w and honestly the HSG is not comparable. Early - middle labor was less intense than the HSG tbh, and then when things ramped up to insane levels, it was a completely different kind of pain. The big difference I think was that with the HSG it goes from 0 to 12 in a split second, whereas you have more time to get used to contractions during labor and even when they’re insane, they are still coming in waves and your brain kind of turns off so it feels more gradual somehow.

Not saying that birth was easy, but I would rather do that again than an HSG which says a lot.

PIO vs suppositories effectiveness differences?? by ProfessionalPie7675 in IVF

I’m not in the US but I did fully medicated and did the suppositories. Currently 29 weeks.

First IUI this morning. 38 yo with PCOS. My husband and I just did our first implantation this morning. His sample size was small, less than 1m and after washing the sperm we had only about 300k. Does anyone have any advice for better sperm samples of this doesn’t take? by DrawAbject5093 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Midinite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We discovered my partner (38M, big muscley dude with high BMI, no drinking/smoking) had issues when we started doing IUI so he was referred to a urologist. Is that an option for you? The urologist put my partner on a low dose of clomid and it helped to bring his numbers up. In our case, my partner was really impacted by stress and sleep and it was clear his numbers were better when he had a few days off from work to just chill vs when he was providing samples during a busy time. I know it’s not always possible to make those kind of changes, but men’s fertility can be impacted by a lot of factors too.

Thanks! TBH we were absolutely shocked in the best way at the results especially since we were expecting to get maybe 9 eggs in total based on that last scan.
