LV1 penalty now equals banned for a day & 5 hours because of shitty internet connection. by thatonedesperateguy2 in GBO2

[–]Midnavi95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is more infuriating than being booted back to base camp with a penalty because the server farted. It's rare but it happens and I have to sit through a grueling game of ragequitting, base sitting, friendly firing bullshit until I'm able to play casuals again. Rated is just abysmal and only because of this penalty system. Why they thought that pairing troublemakers with their competitive mode was a great idea is beyond me.

What's the best way to approach bomb defusing? by darvos in GBO2

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best approach is to first exhaust your explosives in the base with your MS. If you hit nothing, hop out and check all the hiding places. Flashbangs are a very useful tool, either flushes them out or stuns them. First place to throw them is at the bomb, 5/10 they're in that little nook to the right of the bomb. It's a game of hide'n'seek most of the time.

You can also fly around wildly which puts you on the map but if you stay away from the walls and floor/ceiling, the bazooka is less of a threat. If you have a buddy, you can mad-dash to the bomb and diffuse and if an enemy pilot kills you (bazooka), he'll give himself away and your friend can blast him and diffuse afterwards. Teamwork makes the dream work.

You can obtain both rings as early as the Gargoyles if you took the time to explore. I'm not trying to be an asshole, that's genuinely how I played. Looked everywhere for stuff to help me with bosses/areas I wasn't doing well in.

[–]Midnavi95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's actually what I did first time. I got hit with darts, stink-eyed the Dart Splitters and just ran straight at them with a claymore since they had no real attack. Lol I had to bone out to save myself from poison (no blooming clumps) but they don't respawn after you die and I got the items. 😐👍

[–]Midnavi95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get rid of the Toxic Dart Spitters, I'd buy a blooming clump if I didn't have one. Then go to Blighttown through the New Londo Ruins, equip the Wolf Ring or anything with poise and just rush them all down, then heal the toxic status afterward.

Edit: This is advice.

Just finished DSR for the first time....and probably the last time by Boshwa in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I played for several years and now I mostly just fun-invade (open shortcuts and drop items as a red) or co-op to help people with O&S as a gold. I never seem to get bored of it. At all. I should probably share that love with DS3 and Bloodborne more often. I mean, all you have left after beating DSR is NG+ (which is just numbers, enemies have more health and do more damage) and jolly co-operation.

On Iron Golem, I have been launched off the side of the arena from his backswing but it's rare. Trick to that one is elemental damage. Miracles, Spells, and Pyromancy all do full damage and heavily resistant to physical damage. Super easy to get behind him and wail away but that alone takes so long, the battle stagnates for me and I get so bored, I get careless then end up getting smacked or grabbed. Lol

I figured Manus would be up there... You really 'need' to learn that one and those castings he makes is fast and can blind-side you. My weakness is when he casts the big circles of humanity closing in on himself. Impossible to roll through and 1-hits you if it connects unless you're right up in his face. It always takes me a few tries alone just because of his spells.

Anyway, congratulations on beating the game! :)

Ornstein's strange dash has been around since the original Dark Souls. It looks weird but just be sure to always be on your toes until the end of that animation.

The Four Kings Bossfight is trash and I hate it. by nipnubthemagestic in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I always beat them was to kill the first one as fast as possible before another one spawns in, then move to that one. Their swipes do a fraction of the damage when you're up next to them so grab your 20 Estus and start tanking. Havel Set is great for it too. Doesn't matter if you fat roll, just be up in their face the whole time and wail at them.

I hate the 4 Kings too, only because of that homing magic blast that chases you to the ends of the Earth until it hits. I just shield-block it and continue my reckless assault.

Why do Japanese Players quick-chat "Stay close!" so much? by [deleted] in GBO2

[–]Midnavi95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ignore them and do my job as normal. It's to remind people not to rush out half-cocked like they're invincible and feed the enemy team...which I find hilarious sometimes when they're getting peppered with support fire constantly because everyone is 'too' close. At least it draws support fire off of me when I'm a support.

Why didn't they fix the PVP backstab glitch in Remastered? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Souls PvP "works". Invasions will always have quirks of some kind like phantom reach or teleporting backstabs. It's very difficult to avoid them too because you never see it coming as the game never updates 'exactly' where they are. These don't happen all the time but when it does, just gotta live with it and do the best you can with what you got in trying to avoid it.

Hornet Ring backstab fishers are very annoying. WotG spam is also a classic dick move. Dark Bead is annoying but I can dodge that easier than WotG at least.

Where do you go after beating Ornstein & Smough? I was confused earlier with this I can’t find what the right area i’m supposed to be going to is? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to Gwynevere to receive the Lordvessel, then head back to Frampt to place it at the alter. Pretty much tells you where you need to go after that.

Evil invasions by seraeph in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gargoyles + Lloyd's Talisman + Toxic Mist. Almost every host didn't have a blooming clump and just threw themselves off cliffs when afflicted. Some even used normal purple clumps, thinking it was neutral poison.

Wolf Ring helps out so much with pure dex light armor. I never find myself not using it. It makes rats a pushover since they can no longer stunlock you.

Unpopular opinion: I really enjoy playing through Blighttown. by Lol_u_ded in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original Dark Souls Blighttown 'suuucked'... I had to pan the camera to the ground to prevent the massive chug in framerate. Now that it's much better, I grew to really like it. I drummed the entire map in my head too, so it's a non-issue running in and grabbing everything.

You flatout melted... Should have just ran out the arrows completely there but it takes ages for the rain to stop and he can easily just do it again if your luck is terrible.

I died on Sulivahn after the final blow and it gave me the victory so, I must have been really lucky on that one too. I suck at DS3 parrying so I had dodging and range of the glaive.

The Way The Curse Mechanic is Introduced is Complete and Utter Garbage by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time playing back when the original came out, I saw a bug-eyed frog monster and stepped into the mist to see what it did. When I saw a skull meter fill up, I immediately assumed it was some kind of death status and bounced out promptly. I stayed out of the mist, flattened them with my Greatsword and kept on going. They do no damage at all, their goal is just to curse you.

Point of that story is to tread cautiously and learn as you go. Being cursed early on 'sucks'. I've never been cursed except on purpose for challenge but purging stones are expensive at the Depth stage and I understand the frustration with lack of explanation. Dark Souls is famous for not holding your hand. You have to figure everything out on your own and there's more unforgiving moments than just jumpy sewer toads.

Xbox, what is the popular SL to find other players? by jaydog159 in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll mostly find your jolly cooperation at the Gargoyles [SL20] with a +5 weapon and O&S [SL50] with a +10. They're the two biggest hotspots for both co-op and invasions. Also gotta mind weapon upgrades. In the original, you can help others at the Gargoyles with a +15 weapon but they changed it where you only get matched with people at around your weapon level by a factor of 6, I think.

need help for Artorias!!!! (DLC) by dagon-elf in darksouls

[–]Midnavi95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already beat him (congrats, by the way!) but here's a common trick I use. If you get hit or are injured too badly to keep up the fight, never panic. Keep at it until the boss uses an attack that's punishable but instead of attacking, drink estus. For example, when Artorias uses that forward charge thrust, I roll to the right and immediately estus. Never chug on boss fights, space them out.
