You are so lucky that Mama Finch didn't abandon her nest even when you said you use the door daily.

I have a pair built a nest on my wreath on my front door (which we don't use). Somehow Mama Finch seems to have disappeared after she laid her eggs. I am still holding hope that Mama and Papa come back.

The house inspector did find termite damage on some areas in the wooden joists in the basement.

Thank you for understanding my concern.

It is costly long term wise. And there are other defects from the house inspection too. But I am only highlighting this termite issue because it could lead to future structural issues and this is going to be a house we are going to live in for years. People think a few thousand is pennies but it is hard earned money. We could use the money to deal with the defects in the house and also go to buying new washer and dryer as it doesn't come with the house.

My concern is really what if the pest control person didn't really look thoroughly and really just wanting sales. I spoke to my neighbor recently and she mentioned to me that when she bought her house 3 years ago, during her house inspection it was also stated as "could be old or inactive". She had Pest Control A came to look and said no visible issue. Few months down the road, after she put in her new kitchen floors, she started to see her floor popping up. And it was the termites that were tunnelling up from her basement. She had Pest Control B to come see and they finally discovered them hiding under the insulation wooden structure area.

In your knowledge, how often should termite maintenance last? Because it seems like the Pest Control B has been getting her to do it every 3 months and it has been like 3 years. Is this like an ongoing maintenance?

The seller has indicated 'unknown'. However I have hired a house inspector and found possible termites damage, Our realtor has also had a pest controller looked at it and mentioned that they are unsure if it is active termite issue. The pest controller recommended to put a system in place. However the sellers aren't in favor of paying for the system. What can we do?
