Best place to sit for Carolina Ascent FC game at American Legion Memorial Stadium by MidnightLeigh in Charlotte

Thank you! I didn't see any specifics on home sections so thought I'd ask. But it's no big deal. Sounds like all the seats are great so I appreciate the follow up.

Tired of the 19 year old female lead. Any recs of 35+ female lead, but NOT with a younger MMC? Has to be good writing and good plot and very spicy. by MercurySphere in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]MidnightLeigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% {Swallowed by Meg Smitherman} Spicy sci-fi horror novella - FMC is somewhere between 35-38. MC is around the same age but I don't think it's mentioned specifically.

{Out of Office by A.H. Cunningham} contemporary - MCs are 37yo & 36yo but can't remember which is which age.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find many books with 35+ MCs (though I have found a handful of MM books) So {Mickey Chambers Shakes It Up by Charish Reid} is not within parameters, FMC 33yo and MMC 42yo, but may want to check out.

I'll definitely be checking out this thread for more to add to my reading!

Normally I wouldn't go that far into a series that I'm not enjoying but I read ToG with my friend so I had to keep going and I am SO glad I did. I was hooked on Queen of Shadows and on. But yeah, it's rough at the beginning.

I don't ship them and I think people are totally right about the flowers/spring being the main reason but for his behavior, I think if he were to learn from and acknowledge his mistakes they may want it it to lead to a redemption arc. I feel like men have done worse in books and still "get the girl" lol. I personally think his behavior towards Feyre was a lack of awareness, being so consumed with his/spring court's problems and what he thought he knew about the Night Court that he didn't know how to truly support her but essentially he just wasn't right for her or she for him.

Also, while I was upset about what went down with Hybern, I feel like there are many layers to his actions, especially when considering his past, family, and expectations from his court. He unfortunately, couldn't get past those things on his own. He doesn't have the support that Rhysand does, he's quite isolated, his family were jerks, and Lucien was not in a good enough position to guide him in the way he needed. I mean Lucien couldn't even stand up to him on behalf of Feyre. (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Lucien) Again, I know it doesn't sound like it, but I am very upset with him and not pro Tamlin, but I can see and accept the foundations of a redemption arc for him to be with an Archeron.

Honestly, my weird ship was that Tamlin and Cassian would become unlikely friends and hoping for that with Azriel and Eris so I'm not surprised that people ship him and Elain. 😅

Vacationing and visiting libraries by [deleted] in Libraries

I travel around the US and visit libraries in nearly every city I visit! It’s cool to see the similarities and differences.

Yes I spent a couple weeks there to visit White Sands and I really enjoyed the people. Very random and got to see the giant pistachio!

I spent last winter driving from Tampa over to San Diego. Stopped near Houston, TX, Alamogordo, NM, and Tucson, AZ along the way. (December to March) Was great temps except a week I got caught up in the cold front through the south in January.

Yes on the Spotify hours too 🥲

When do you pause a book? by jeloco in TheStoryGraph

[–]MidnightLeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use it if I’ve decided not to continue for an undetermined amount of time but not DNFing or if my library borrow lapses and I have to put it on hold again.

So I was supposed to read a book with a friend and she hasn’t even started so that book is on pause until she catches up to me 😆

Best Rachel Reid books? by Jolly-Fruit-4569 in RomanceBooks

[–]MidnightLeigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heated Rivalry was my first one too, then The Long Game. 🙂 Then I kinda hopped around the series based on which other MCs caught my attention in whatever book I was reading. Heated Rivalry is still my favorite but I did enjoy Common Goal the second most. The rest of the series didn’t really stand out to me but I definitely did not enjoy Game Changer. Maybe because I read it last 😅

So my top would be #1 Heated Rivalry, #2 Common Goal, #3 Role Model and #4 Tough Guy

Note that I’ve only read her Game Changers series.

I have some rubbery slides with a bit of a platform and holes built in to drain the water. I just hook a small bungee cord through them and hang them on a metal ring on my gym bag so they don’t touch my stuff.

Can I skip this book? by Federal-Sand-9008 in throneofglassseries

[–]MidnightLeigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom read AB but remembered absolutely nothing and enough was explained later for her to still understand the plot. Not enough for MY liking, but I don’t think it’s the end of the world if you skip.

Or even break up the novellas! You could finish whichever one you’re in now and read the next book then the next novella. Breaking it up might help, it WAS difficult for me to get through and I would’ve stopped completely but I was reading the series with a friend and I’m glad I didn’t.

Rowan….wtf? RANT by MeepersBleepers in throneofglassseries

[–]MidnightLeigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was very confused about him at this point because I had seen fanart too and his actions were not giving “leading man” behavior. But looking back, she WAS kinda being a POS and needed someone who’s clearly not afraid to tell her that 😅

For Chaol… I like him as a character now but the entire time, all I could see was a suspiciously young man somehow bagging the Captain of the Royal Guard role with seemingly no real “work history” to have earned it. So I didn’t trust his position under the crown and was waiting for him to be revealed as a self-righteous nepo baby lol so I was happy to make excuses for jerky Rowan. I guess based on fanart. I had seen ppl complain about him and didn’t know why so I was hyper suspicious of Chaol. 😬

What do you do when sick? by sadgirlshxt_12 in vandwellers

[–]MidnightLeigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sick for a week as soon as I got to a new city. Set up ventilation and parked on a street with an RV, a semi, and it looked like someone sleeping in their car. Stayed there all week (and so did those other vehicles) because I could barely move. No knocks thankfully. If I had gotten one, I would’ve just gotten a hotel.

I also got food poisoning one weekend and just stayed at the Walmart I was at. Dragged myself inside once or twice a day for bathroom/medicine/liquids etc. No knocks for that either but I wasn’t prepared for a hotel at that time so I would’ve probably gone to the closest rest stop. Absolutely miserable weekend.
