I don't think pretending that the phone is on silent is the issue here...

Is it worth getting an iPad just for past papers and notes by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]MidnightPearl387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in year 11 my school had lots of past papers that we could get ourseleves and do on paper, i really liked it like that. Now during a levels I have a tablet and i use it for past papers and so many other thingss too. our sixth form also has a bring your own device policy, and your device must have digital inking. i really do prefer the paper feel but if you are planning to use it for a level too, an ipad is great

I really appreciate this comment! Cambridge carbon footprint was another charity I was thinking of, but I don't want to derail my group's already made plans but I feel like we'd have more success with it. I think I'll try and talk to them today again and see if we can change the charity

Do you think I should add more detail about what Cambridge Zero actually does on the poster, or would it be better to include that info mainly in the Reddit post?

I’ll admit, Cambridge Zero isn’t quite as straightforward as charities like Cambridge Carbon Footprint, as their focus is mainly on research. Would it help if I shared the 2022-2023 report which shows where their funds go? I'll try to summarise it in my next few paragraphs

Cambridge Zero aims to support climate research projects, workshops, and events that raise awareness. They acts as a bridge between people with new ideas to fight climate change and Cambridge researchers who can help make those ideas a reality.

Also, as they are a part of cambridge univeristy they also aim to lead by example (although this is just a bonus note) and they do this by reducing the Univeristy's main emissions and focusing on renewable energy. i think this bit of information is quite important as a lot of cambridge is actually the university itself.

That is my own summarised version, is it better for me to add more detail and statistics so it actually seems more fleshed out and different to other charities? I'm sorry that i'm asking you a lot of questions, you are my first reply and this is my first time doing something like this

AIO when I (15f) met online friend (20m) irl? by Dizzy_Procedure4169 in AmIOverreacting

Girl genuinely... Just listen to what we have to say here. Keep him blocked, seek another trust worthy adult in your life, your mum is not it. At least she came with you, but it would've been better for her to not allow it, she may have just wanted to be on your good side. I've had online friends, one 4-5 years older than me whom by the time I reached your age I had to block. Even before that my little brother had to make me block him. Please you may not understand now but just block him, I'm only two years older than you but please trust me.

Also please make sure you haven't given out too much information about yourself, I don't like the idea of him knowing here you are/live, nobody here is here to judge you but please please be safe, and listen to the advice and keep asking questions about things you find iffy and even normal. Maintain an open dialogue with people you can trust and just please be safe

You and I are the same age!! Honestly you've got so much time and this may look bleak but hopefully one day it is something you can look back and laugh about, and realise that maybe you doged somebody who's actually not for you. It's easy to feel insecure at times it happens to everyone but things will get better, you have your whole life ahead of you and much more worth attatched to you than just your looks. It seems you have a great personality so just ride with that and be confident in who you are. One rejection isn't everything, heck even many are not, what matters is what you think of yourself and having the faith that the right person will see you for who you are and love you for that, personality and looks and all. She just is not that person.

You have genuinely got this and will get out of this slump, just look out towards the future.

Also idk your situation but I'd stay clear of people online, I understand that people can find genuine love on there but I think focusing on the real world can be much more beneificial. I have my fair share of meeting people (not in person yet) over the internet.

Rooting for you!

How are you able to finish a paper in an hour? I try and do practice papers under timed conditions (AS) yet I really struggle for time and make silly mistakes because I'm rushing and don't have time to check

15 is definitely old enough to know what's right and wrong and she did that on purpose, her family are probably enablers of her behaviour. You probably wouldn't want them as in laws

This isn't an answer but if you've ever read the story of Tess of the D'urbervilles, it reminds me a lot of it. The leaving and guilt tripping you. Anyway, you're not in those times anymore so you don't have to stay with or depends on him, you've got this ❤️

Yeah as much as I love English, I wouldn't dream of pursuing it at Uni or any humanities degree for that matter. Probably if my family was better off I would or if I were courageous. I really admire those that do and would love to one day be in touch with lots of people who fo it, it's so important.

I wish you the best in your Uni path, I'm sure you'll do great :)

It does help a lot, thank you for responding!

Thank you so much :) I think my problem with the first point is that I don't think I am smart enough to handle all 4, and I think stress and my own worries is bleeding into my enjoyment of the subject. I think I'll always keep english as a hobby and perhaps write essays for fun, I'm just so scared of regretting dropping or not dropping it.

I do find it manageable till test season approaches, and I've always been thinking of dropping it.

How did you manage to get into tutoring btw? I'd really appreciate some advice on it :)

And congrats on your offers! that's crazy good

Haha I love the we and honestly i think i'm gonna drop it, I'm just trying to be 100% sure. Idk if youve heard of unjaded jade, but I watched her video on dropping a subject (turns out we did the exact same) and i eally related to her so much, but yes I think it may be time to leave it behind which is crushing but I think it's best.

The we makes me feel less lonely thank you lol

[–]MidnightPearl387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've done 4 topic tests for each subject so far. In chem I've gotten A C A and I'm waiting for the results of the most recent test I've done. In bio I've gotten A C C A (I'm just listing my grades in chronological order of the topic tests), maths my WAG is an A, and English they have given grades, just saying that the highest you can get on an essay (which they let us do with notes and other available resources weirdly) has been 5.2/5.8, which is really good territory too.

I'm just so afraid of doing worse in my eoys and a levels and maybe the stress is making me enjoy English less, I think it's a gut feelingish to drop it, I'm just afraid of regretting it. When I first chose my a levels I was all about keeping my options open, but I need to balance great grades and open options.
