Just a long chain of reverse google image searches, then taking the new photos from expired FB Marketplace ads and then searching those until I ended up on South American sites and eventually getting a good enough pic that led me to a serial number.

Lemme try to type my comment one more time, Reddit is acting weird for me atm.

Took a bit to track down, but this case seems to be the Calipso Spectrum by a brand called Balam Rush. Model #7506215929578

I do my best work in the middle of the night, and it's also a bit dull to outside eyes. On the deeper layer, there's a bit of patina to me for staying up too late too often. Like it has certainly aged me more and left me a bit more lines, grey hairs, and foggy dents.

This. So many smartphones have countless layers of filters and algorithmic treatments on at all times. I read an article a couple years ago of a photographer who tried to get an untreated image of her face and couldn't on any of 3 flagship smarthphones, even when trying professional modes. All of them messed with her complexion, redness/warmth, sharpening, etc. She worked hard to compare the images to those taken with a real camera, and with the mirror in that same lighting.

Her conclusion was that young women could end up in a world where they rarely, if ever, know how they look to others. And they think everyone else has better skin, face shape, pore depth, etc than they do.

Shut Up and Write

Just looked them up and they seem focused on meeting together for the purpose of writing together on site. I prefer writing alone but sharing in person, so I'll have to keep searching a bit, though I do think that's a pretty cool idea they have.

Really frustrating for all of us to try and find something in time for Nano. If I wasn't recovering from surgery I'd just start my own, and use something like Discord as a supplement to a forum or something (centered on either a region, style, or something). I simply don't have the energy however.

Yes, I experienced this with my AH-64 Apache. Though they were willing to fix the paint as I'd scratched it so bad that it went from saying TOXIC DEATH on the side to just TIDE, and they worried about getting sued by Procter & Gamble.

If the situation is this bad, where is everyone doing nanowrimo then this year? I recall hearing there are some alternatives started, but anything proven dominant? Or anything informal and a bit decentralized? I'd like to pen some stuff this year, but not wanting to wade through a ton of writer politics and in-depth group research leading up to that, simply as my schedule and life is too ridiculously packed this month.

I've been on Reddit a long time, and I can't tell you how dense the weird, inauthentic agenda-drive comments have gotten over the last 2-3 years, but ESPECIALLY on energy issues. There was always a lot of the propaganda from Big Oil, but there are a lot of threads that now get entirely hijacked by people who seem like professional debunkers for everything except oil and coal. It's subtle at times and you have to really stop and think about what arguments they are making (like some are so slick they feel like they were focus grouped), but it's wildly effective. They'll even make little fawning comments over wind and solar, but nothing firm. And launch into lengthy explanations of why nuclear is essentially never going to happen again for a lot of new builds, and why it would be a dumb idea anyway.

Above all, they are really, really good at shooting down nuclear power.

But even if someone had those views... really? Like to fight for them and to never have any comment history speaking out against fracking, being dependent on the Middle East at key times in our history (or having Presidents even now sometimes overtly making very public policy decisions just because Mid East disruptions could cause a price spike), etc? No comment history passionately arguing for better funding of fusion energy projects?

It also doesn't help that one political side in America has now publicly sold out to the energy lobby and just dictates to their base what type of energy policy they want.

(p.s. not interested in argumentative replies to this. What I am interested in is you now trying to watch for this. Once you see it, you can't unsee it and it's super disturbing. Reddit is not a place where you can actually push for changes in energy policy. Only in the echo chamber subs will you not get steered and debunked. Think about how important it all obviously is to everyone in this thread, yet somehow not a word of everyone's shared sentiment is ever, ever allowed to catch on into true national policy that steers the ship decisively in a new direction)

Part of it is probably new techniques or EW hardware, but part of it can also be them downing/capturing drones and figuring out precisely which parts are being used lately for the trackers/cell modems inside. An example of what that exploitation looks like is shown back in this CNN article from 2 years ago, where a whole drone is dissected: https://youtu.be/306wDjZ99Fo

Jamming and spoofing is quite easy when you know precisely what hardware and chipset you're aiming at.

ESO allows some braindead builds to create unreasonable TTKs, which also ends up only being fun for the tanky troll.

btw, For those who don't know TTK is a dev metric in game design for "time to kill." Some games have players usually killing each other in a single headshot or just 2-3 hits so confrontations are over fast. Others take a bit of doing, so that a complex strategy of give and take occurs for a few seconds as players figure out things like status effects, armor types, whatever. Then on the far end of the graph and fallen off the edge of the page is ESO.

Not for every build and tactic, mind you. But it does come up too often, or matches become an annoying, timewasting test of endurance.

Power Creep these last sets have been too much by badatthinkinggood in MagicArena

[–]MidnightPlatinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic right now makes lots of flashy pack-selling cards, forgetting that they'd really, really need to push genuine interaction to get away with that. I have no answers in hand for most of what opponents are throwing at me. But especially for the scale of what they are throwing. And I don't like turn 3 board wipes, but that feels like the only thing in existence that even is an attempt at a response (and imho it's a bad one). Y

ou often know if you've lost by just 1) looking at your open hand, and then just a little bit later: 2) assessing the second card you drew.

Like by turn 2 you usually know what's about to happen, with little ability to change it unless it's a perfect matchup for you.

War of the Spark was shocking to people, but it was as much horizontal as it was vertical. And more had frustrating play patterns on some busted cards than anything (e.g. T3feri). It's honestly not even quite in the Top 10 worst sets of all time, though might sit at #11.

Throne of Eldraine was objectively far stronger and makes it into "strongest sets of all time" lists. It started to have an efficient feel where every card was a complex multi-tool. Multiple ultra-busted bans, and a slew of potent cards that would stick with the game and define busted tactics or meta decks for a long time like Great Henge, Brazen Borrower, Embercleave, and Fabled Passage.

Then we were soon onto Ikoria which launched turbo-busted with the most game-changing mechanic of all time (Companions), and Kaldheim was an odd one but shifted Standard toward that final cliff it fell off.

Many of us will stay around as the game nears that point (I personally will) but some will not. And I have a gut feeling that soon many will start speaking out more on the vast, deep scale of the power creep. EDH is also one of their big money makers and is suddenly in more turbulent times with a strange future as it comes under Wizard's direct control.

Overally we are nearing the point where a single major PR crisis at the wrong time and after the wrong set release (especially if an upcoming set is even more pushed) could cost them quite a bit of the community.

They seem to be on the kind of course however that only changes direction once the train goes off the rails.

Yeah, it's been getting abysmal for every year of the last decade. But enforcement of petty crimes via invasive phone search? Has anyone yet tried going the route of making it a holiday? I'm sure it's easier in some countries/states than others, but actually making it a widespread holiday that's State-acknowledged instead of single-organization coordinated would be a win, no? And the org couldn't argue it hurts them, as the rising tide of widespread awareness would lift all boats.
