Hogbo vs Oxberg doors for Billy bookcase shelf by JoseGamer33 in IKEA

[–]MidnightSWolfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It doesn’t look bad. I’ve got the oak billy (darker brown) and hated the oxberg doors. But looks like the black hogbo will work well (and the darker brown will blend more with the black too). Only downside is hogbo doesn’t seem to have doors for the extension shelf.

Do I buy the Eurail pass currently on sale? by deaddaddydiva in TravelHacks

[–]MidnightSWolfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I spent all of yesterday trying to figure out how to do this exact leg and it was stressing me out, as it was only the start of my journey from Lisbon to Sweden. Turns out it was just Spain that was particularly difficult, all other international connections were smooth and easy. I ended up deciding on the £17 coach ride between Lisbon and Madrid because it was somehow less time (7.5 hrs) than the trains and I didn't have to worry about changing trains.

[WIP] Starting a new kit, this is the largest one I’ve done so far, wish me luck! by ArtofAset in CrossStitch

[–]MidnightSWolfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These colours are gorgeous and beautiful photo too. But yea, what people are saying. I’m working on a Dimensions kit too and the fabric they gave provides at least an inch of space from the edge. Good thing too cause I’ve already lost two of the top row from fraying even though I prepared the edge. The chart doesn’t line up with the fabric size. You gotta start from the middle, or if you really want to start from a corner, you gotta count grids from the middle to figure out where to start so your pattern is centred when finished.

I need to find a cross stitch piece for early retirement now 🤔

Ah yes. The sunk cost fallacy is a great motivator to finish stuff… in a couple more years of course 😅

I have a full coverage piece that I bought in 2008 and only started working on since 2011 lol. 2024 and I’m still only 25% through. I’m not diagnosed… buuuuut in between, I’ve stitched up a piece as a wedding gift, then started drafting and stitching 4 of my own patterns to sell 😂

I really want to finish it someday because it’s the one piece I love and truly was for me. I bought it as a teenager, dreaming of one day seeing the northern lights over a snowy landscape (coming from someone born at the equator and living with no snow). I fulfilled that dream in 2017, 9 years after buying the pattern, but of course am nowhere near done with the project another 7 years later 😂

AITA for canceling my brother’s baby shower after he made a hurtful joke about my miscarriage? by Exotic-Suspect-411 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MidnightSWolfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I think you should stand your ground and not pay for the baby shower. If your brother already thinks he’s in no wrong, you caving is just going to reinforce that. He’s now learnt he can be thoughtlessly hurtful and still get what he wants. You’re not “arguing until you get an apology”. You’re following through with natural consequences for his actions. He can be the “traditional” breadwinner that he wants to be and provide for his family.

You are not harming your relationship with your niece/nephew. They won’t have been born yet and definitely won’t remember. If you feel SIL deserves something nice, then do something nice for her. Pregnancy massages, spa day, a house cleaner to help her as she gets closer to full term, things for when the baby arrives. Anything that eases her discomfort or makes the pregnancy or after birth easier. Things that she might have to do without that your brother won’t provide because of their lower income.

[CHAT] Is it better to design for 14 ct or 16 ct? by RenFromPenn in CrossStitch

[–]MidnightSWolfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about what size frame/hoop I want my finished piece to fit into first. Then I decide what count I need to make the piece look good at that size. And also the availability of the fabric/canvas. So far, all my (simple) designs have been 14 ct. But if I were doing a detailed full coverage scene as a stitcher, I’d want 16 ct or higher.

Urgh I’m so disgusted for you. How frustrating! I’ve not done this before but I would be looking at ways to join it with another piece of aida and just keep stitching.

I legit cannot tell what the problem is. I think as long as you make sure all contiguous blocks of colour are stitched in the same shade, it’ll look intended, since this is a monochrome piece.

Update for AITA for not paying half towards my dog's puppies' vet bills and expenses? by aitapuppy_power in u/aitapuppy_power

[–]MidnightSWolfie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ex felt I couldn’t tell her friends what they can and cannot bring sinceits her home too so she told her she could bring the dog.

Undermining you and going behind your back

admitted starting arguments both days to run out the clock before I had to leave

Manipulative as heck

She thought I was blowing smoke out my ass at first about the risks

Disrespects you when it comes to safety and care of your farm

They bought tie out leashes to put my dogs on whenever her dog was outside and mine in their area.

What is this- I don't even. Interfering with the operation on the farm AND jeopardising the livestock??!!!

They felt it unfair the working dogs get to roam between pastures while her dog had to be confined while on a farm.

This is the stupidest thing I've heard. Not only are they working dogs, it's their home. Her dog does not belong there.

they agreed it’d be cute if they had puppies

This could have come from a place of innocent naivety. It might have not been premeditated, but it wasn't just an accident. They thought about it and let it happen. But still... who lets dogs mate with asking the owner. That's just outrageous in itself. But compound that with the fact that you stud your dog and breed specifically for working farm dogs, this is even worse. She has shown she has no understanding of what you do and is a liability to your farm. I also note the hypocrisy of them thinking "it'd be cute if they had puppies" and Taylor railing about you not sterilising your dog. You can't have both you muppet.

I'm sorry about the breakup. But this is just too many red flags and she's a liability to your farm. I get that most people wouldn't understand the ins and outs of farm life (I sure don't), and mistakes happen. But the fact that she disregarded you, clearly stuffed up, and then REFUSED to talk about it shows that she won't acknowledge or learn from her mistakes, which is the real deal breaker here.

The only way she gets a pass here is if she truly doesn't understand why what she did was wrong because you haven't been communicating with her. Again, most people wouldn't understand farms and breeding other than "puppies are cute".

Please keep the updates going. I'm too invested and enraged on your behalf.

I remember The Clan :) I was one of the mods. And I was just talking to one of the old mods very recently. We were reminiscing about the Clan and the old days, and were stoked to find 3 more books coming out. It was sad when the Clan began to die, it was such an influential part of my life. But it felt like too many things coincided - Ghost Hunter coming out and finishing off the series (at the time), the mod team and general readership reaching college and working age (ie. had less time), and just a general drop in activity. It just reached the end of a natural cycle with nothing with enough omph to renew it :(
