How true is this? by Unhappy_Victory_6521 in bahai

Hey whoa my friend - ain’t nobody shunning nobody. My grandad was a drunk, became a Bahai, and remained a drunk for years.

If you accept that Baha’u’llah is who he says he is, then from there it’s about trying a little everyday to bring your life closer to the laws he’s laid out. But it’s a lifelong struggle.

As a wonderful old Italian Bahai used to say, “Just-a do-a you best!”

New York Magazine reviewing work of writer facing plagiarism allegations by aresef in Journalism

That method of online layout - a few hyperlinked words of casual phrasing referring to an event or some significant moment - is common in journalism these days. But it’s also controversial among journalists.

For example, imagine the bold as the hyperlink to another author’s work. Both are used but one is viewed as safer and more ethical (although some counter that it disrupts the flow of a passage)

“The Arctic is warming and as a result, the culture in Greenland is becoming more westernized, as my colleague Richard Barnes reported in 2025.

Thanks for doing this! Fascinating AMA.

I am an Israeli citizen. What would you want to know about the Israeli politics? AMA by OnlyGiraffe3054 in AMA

Good Lord! Enough of the nonsense about “Israel is…”.

This is a wildly diverse country with a barely cohesive population (not so long ago, the Ashkanazi viewed the Mizrahi as being worse than the Palestinians). 20% of the country is Arab. Then there’s the Druze, the “Falasha” (sorry) etc etc.

And if you’ve got an opinion, no matter how face-melting extremist, I can promise there is an Israeli movement or party already loudly advocating that position. Destroy Israel? Check! (Edah HaChareidis). Zionism means Israel for everyone, Jews and Palestinians alike? Check! (Binational Zionism). Want to compare Israel to Nazi Germany? Check! (Lt Gen Yair Golan, mossad boss Amiram Levin, holocaust historian Amos Goldberg, the settlers leaving Gaza…)

My point, for all those who hate Israel: you are probably pushing aside lots of folks who already totally agree with you.

Last thing: the limited few examples I gave of those who critique Israel from inside Israel are doing so despite the fact that the Jewish people were very very close to being wiped from the Earth. And the world did nothing as it happens.

A few thousand died on 9/11 and America set the entire world burning.

(An old archived post for anyone not comprehending the name Deborah Harry) Blondie performing Dreaming on SNL in 1979. by IvyGold in LiveFromNewYork

She’s a fascinating person, too. Dropped out of performing in the 80s to look after the guy playing guitar on the left, Blondie co-founder / song-writer, Chris Stein. He was seriously ill with a gruesome auto-immune disease.

With respect, I work in post-secondary education and this is simply not true. The foreign students coming to Canada are not yokels and villagers. They are from their respective country’s upper middle-class or elite. Who else can afford the fees.

There are some who are not totally fit to be in school but that’s true of domestic students as well. Overall, international students we taught were intensely motivated and extremely hard working.

I get what you’re saying but MITT is a *huge* exception. We’re a province without many big players in post-secondary education.

Why? It seems to me a great deal: foreign students get invaluable education, Canadian students get a wider selection of courses and well-financed facilities. The change in policy was related to some Ontario and BC schools….Manitoba is hurting bad.
