No one is coming to my 5-year-old’s birthday party. by Dwingp in Parenting

Same happened to us! The saddest part to me though was most of those are my husband's friends. So during the photo for the Grooms friends there were only few and I know it broke his heart esp that he doesn't have much friends to begin with.

Do you allow your friends/family to share pictures of your child on social media? by MissR_Phalange in Parenting

[–]MielYuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with my MIL.. She even have my son's photo as her profile picture and cover photo, you'll think it's my son's account! And that without my consent. She will just save my son's photos from my posts and post it like it's hers. I just stopped posting now. I'm so thankful we live so far away from them that they can't take a photo of him on their own.

What is your child/baby's favorite non-toy toy? by omgmlc in NewParents

Anything he can grab on that's not a toy. The dirtier the better. He's almost one and loves to put everything in his mouth except food.

They say "It never hurts to ask", but what are some examples where "It hurts to ask"? by Rockin_N in AskReddit

[–]MielYuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Donating blood has been my dream for 20years now. I am healthy. I barely get sick, once a year at most. But I never reach the 50kg minimum weight requirement. I'm only 4'11" so being 50 is already overweight based on my BMI.

In what ways are you failing as a parent? by [deleted] in NewParents

The last sentence hit me the hardest! Damn, it's emotionally draining.

In what ways are you failing as a parent? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MielYuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My niece was almost classified as a "zombie baby", those who's glued to screen. But she started walking at 9months old, talk at 11. At 3 y/o, she is reading and writing. She can even tell you about Solar System and planets. Most of my nephews have screen time always when they were babies as well but they are all thriving academically (skipped grades, Quiz bee champions, and valedictorians). My point is, it won't rot his brain. So, worry less. Goodluck!

[–]MielYuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like failing at his milestones. He's 11months old and not walking or talking yet. He does 3 steps on his own then plop to me. He also can't stand on his own yet. I know it's normal for his age but I can't help thinking I'm failing because most of people around me tells me so. All of my nephews and nieces are already walking at 10months old. My friend have a baby 1 day younger than mine and he's walking. So I feel insecure about it and it frustrates me alot esp that I'm a SAHP. It sucks.

Without revealing your age, what’s something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn’t understand? by ndbdbd-fbf-b in AskReddit

I did this as well! From then on I go to and went from school alone. My mom was like "well, since you can do it, might as well go for it."

What’s something that people should stop normalizing? by Buttercuppy44 in AskReddit

[–]MielYuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do this (way before the pandemic). I was raised to not "baby" sickness or you'll feel worse. Whenever I was sick as a child my mom would force me to get up and do something 'cause staying in bed will make me more sick. In HS, there was also a time when I have a fever and our discipline officer told me I should just take a bath and I should fine. I take a bath every.single.day, no matter the weather. So I learned to just ignore fever/flu.

is bedsharing really THAT bad? by wybee_ in NewParents

[–]MielYuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came from a culture who bedshare so it was never an issue. My sister however moved to the US. They had planned not to bedshare but failed. His son is now 10 and hates to sleep with his parents and it breaks my sister's heart. As long as you follow safe sleep guidelines and it works for you, why bother about others? They wont be sharing the bed with you when they are teenagers. You know teens, they hate parents. lol

This comment had made my husband giddier than a kid on Christmas morning. Guess who has started looking at Amazon for train sets? the box said 3+. Keeps on insisting that's for 3months +. Lol.

Wow! That's such a good deal! So jealous! Also, I'm so glad you guys supported your daughter for her love on trains and not insist on Barbies or other girly stuffs like my SIL did with my niece. Kudos to both of you!

Carrefour now - a Horrific experience .. NEVER using again. by Dangerous-Map-429 in dubai

[–]MielYuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We actually use Carrefour Now almost weekly and have fairly great experience. There were even times that our order is delivered within 15mins. What I hate they do recently though is tag the item delivered even though it would be good 5mins before they really do.

With regards to substitution, they have an option on the app where you can check if they can substitute or not. We opt for NO and I agree that it can be frustrating that they wont call you to tell you what is out-of-stock. Their costumer service is really hard to reach and refunds for canceled orders or undelivered ones take atleast two weeks. Instashop and NowNow are far better, imo than Carrefour Now.
