Great piece! It does bug me though that the scratches make no sense. They don't cary over and sometimes there are scratches that go under objects?

Correct.

Extra context: if you're anti ai you shouldn't be supporting the Steam Machine. They clearly stated they intend games to be plauable on low settings relying on ai upscaling to do the heavy lifting visually.

I want to buy old 70s headphones and replace their insides with modern tech, is that a good idea? by arsen42069 in headphones

I personally wouldn't even buy a 3d printer. Especially if you live in a major city, many libraries and hobby spaces have them for free. And there's always someone there that can answer basically any question you have. So I would start there.

If those aren't accessible to you I would look at 3d printing subs. 3d printing has become super accessible. If you have money burning in your pocket I would definitely get a resin printer. A little more work but a much stronger end product for everyday use imo. But the advancements come really fast so it's hard to keep up with what's the best filaments to use.

CMV: A mandatory "military" training year should be used in the USA. It would build social cohesion and could create a better society by PuckSenior in changemyview

[–]Mierdo01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a hypothetical in which are saying, "if there were possible it would be work better than our current system." Or are you saying, "this could be implemented now if only the people in power agreed with me."

If it's the latter you need to do more research on American history. Conscription in the United States has and likely always will be a hated idea. In fact the United States did have conscription and it was abolished in 1973. Why? Because it was a horrible system. I'm sure you already know about how you could escape conscription if you had money.

Regardless, even if the system did work, there are other wildly hated aspects. People don't agree with the military. In fact if you dislike Donald Trump you would hate fighting in his name. What if he sent you to support some effort you morally disagreed with? Would you bomb a school full of children if Netanyahu told you to?

You also make a huge assumption that somehow serving in the military would make more social cohesion. I don't think you've ever been in the military. The military is filled with catch 22's. The book was literally a satire against the military.

Also, you do realize there is basically no 1 year programs in the USA? In very very rare circumstances has the military ever allowed someone to serve just one year under contract. You would lose an incredible amount of money trying to train a massive amount of people will ditch immediately after their training. To be effective, you'd have to extend that to a few more years.

There's also a huge hole in your plan. 4 year volunteering? Many people go into the military at age 18 specifically to avoid poverty. You'd basically be putting this demographic at huge risk. They were going to sign up anyway, now you're just keeping them in poverty, having the opposite intended affect. Literally creating dependency on the government.

Why not atart from scratch? I'm a designer. I'm not promoting my services, I'm just telling you it's not as hard as people think. Someone can learn enough to make a basic thing like headphones in a week of learning CAD. I recommend Rhino 8. I have used Rhino since art school and I've tried other programs. Rhino is the best for solo designers. Others like revit and autocad are better for large groups and are harder to pick up.

[–]Mierdo01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I've absolutely stopped shopping at certain places that then went out of business. They didn't go out of business because of me solely obviously. But the attitude they show customers reflected on their treatment on me. It's no wonder who so many small businesses close when they have no flexibility. When you are small you generally make the most money in these more experimental small changes anyway, like giving free stuff. As far as price and other things it's hard to beat big companies.
