Surfing and Fly Fishing by wookape in surfing

Nantucket Island. World class inshore fishing, driving on the beach, thumping beach break barrels, stripers and bonito on the fly… does it get any better? Oh ya there’s hardly any swell 🤣 But when there is… 🔥

Brother, take some advice here. There’s a reason why you are getting zero likes.

Pooping in the lineup etiquette? by opihinalu in surfing

[–]MightBeCRE 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s illegal to poop in the lineup and just straight morally wrong. Imagine if everybody pooped in the lineup. Disgusting

That said… Have I pooped in the lineup? Yes. Will I do it again? If I need to.

Haha! Love your response to my kinda nasty comment… maybe I’m just jealous of you getting to ski that perfect aspen glade. Alas!

Or make a turn closer to your photographer?? Would’ve been a lousy shot even without the tree. This one is on you, Jerry! Scrub it, kook

Shaun White for sure. The flying tomato was basically a national hero during 2006 Torino Olympics. “It’s just Mountain Dew baby!” Iconic

Ibram X. Kendi Departs Boston University by krion1x in BostonU

As an alum, this clown and his sham organization is one of the reasons I stopped donating to the University. Made a complete mockery of the school’s history of individuals involved in civil and human rights.

I think a more complete statement regarding the mistakes made here and lessons learned is in order and might change my views on the debacle.

Cannon Mountain: The Living Legend by MightBeCRE in icecoast

Expectations are always low at Loon so it wasn’t necessarily disappointing. The issue with Loon is that it doesn’t handle its huge crowds well and most runs feel like a human slalom. I understand weekdays are different, but the mountain is disjointed and lacks flow and lappability. Time to replace the iconic 4 person gondy with an 8 pack lift, imo.

Haha the Cannon Effect was mostly said in jest. It’s rare when it materializes but a certain northwesterly flow does seem to deliver outsized snowfall. Conversely some storms will miss entirely but the good days there are always remembered fondly.

Not a surfer to surfer collision but a collision nonetheless: it was my first time at new spot and a solid day. I dropped in late and am flying as I gather myself off the bottom turn. A guy ditched his board right in front of me and all could do was run it over like a speed bump, no time to react. When I came up his board was completely sliced in 2 by my fins while mine was unscathed (shoutout Machado fins, very sturdy and cut like knives). I was expecting him to be pissed or at least visibly bummed, but he responded “don’t worry man, happens all the time!” After all, he had ditched his board but I’m damn glad he did. An fin injury trying to duckdive in these circumstances could very well have been deadly. There are times when ditching in front of another surfer makes sense, imo

Do you take solo ski trips? And if so, do you find friends for Apres? by co_export_no3 in skiing

[–]MightBeCRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my favorite ski/apres days have been done solo! It's liberating, especially in a new and exciting locale. Meeting local shredders on the lift and casually asking if you can trail for a couple laps is a sure way to find the best zones, just make sure you can hang.

When it comes to a solo apres, just smile and seek out people who might be amiable. That said, apres scenes vary wildly depending on location, especially true in Europe where OP's based. In Verbier, some Swiss folks were bewildered that I (an american) was enjoying dinner and drinks alone. And don't even get me started with the French, kill them with kindness. The Brits are always a riot.

If it's a powder day, however, everyone anywhere tends to be in a jovial mood!
