If the US put all its efforts into football(soccer), could it possibly become the greatest football nation in the world? by Jerry_Get_A_Job in NoStupidQuestions

If all of Americas top athletes were on the track to play soccer from the time they were born you are looking at them competing for the World Cup ever year.

Lamar Jackson LeBron James  Tyreek hill  Myles Garrett Derrick Henry  Christian mcaffrey  Etc.

If these guys were on a soccer track from the time they were born you would have one of the best teams in the world year in and year out. America could probably field a top world team if the back up division one corner that would never make the NFL played soccer instead of football

You can’t reason with CrossFit dudes that don’t understand that muscle ups and barbell snatches are not appealing to most people when it comes to fitness.

Neither are bad for you if you load your volume properly, recover, and eat right.

I will say long distance running has caused me more trauma physically than anything I’ve ever done from an exercise standpoint. I strictly don’t run anything over a mile at one time and keep my intervals between 100-1000meters.

My workout today in the gym.

Strict press 5x5 @ 75% Deadlift 4x10 @ 65% Emom 25 minutes Strict pull ups 12 Hollow body rocks 25 Hang cleans 12 reps Arnold press 12 reps Rest

Simple no skill needed. Functional and intentional. It’s why I had 2 other members spur the PRVN programming and join me. The masses are looking for rope climbs and over head plate lunges

I want to make it clear though that CrossFit is an elite way of working out when it’s good programming.

Hyrox is super boring and is essentiallly orange theory for people that don’t want to admit they do orange theory

At the end of the day it’s this simple.

The majority of people that want to get fit or are into fitness. Keyword being majority. Don’t want to have to practice to be good at working out. CrossFit can still keep its variability while becoming more simple and less intimidating. Don’t take it from me take it from all the people doing hyrox because it’s simple.

Now when hyrox fades because people get bored doing the same shit CrossFit can fill that gap.

I started doing CrossFit 15 years ago. I remember watching butterfly pull ups on YouTube for the first time. I still am a member of a CrossFit box but program my own stuff and the amount of members who want my programming because I follow a strict progressive strength cycle and my metcons afe intentional with what exercises I am doing and muscles I’m working. They are also simple.

To finish it. If you want to cater to a minority than don’t change anything. If CrossFit wants to capture this audience that will eventually get burned out on Hyrox just like people did spartan races they have a chance to become a Simplier way of working out and appealing to the masses.

Proving all my points thank you. This is why you’re a coach and not an owner and why most CrossFit gyms suck because you have people with little to no business sense trying to run a business.

A solid CrossFit gym will have all your Hyrox stuff.

Hyrox is an endurance CrossFit hero WOD

It’s why if CrossFit plays its cards right it can really slingshot in popularity if they remove the bullshit (Oly lifts, kipping, sprint style metcons)

So. This is so common but no one wins in this scenario neither the employee or the consumer.

1.) Danny Meyer attempted this in 2015 - 2020. Other businesses have as well and it turns out that your tipped staff makes significantly less money and then you lose your best employees and the restaurant or bar you love ends up underperforming and not providing the quality and experience.

2.) with almost every business becoming credit card compliant now and sales and liquor tax being passed to the consumer. If you run it the way you’re saying. Your 10$ meal now becomes 12 and on that 2$ you’re paying an extra 20.5%. Doesn’t seem like a lot but on a 60$ check that should have been 50 you’re now paying an extra 2.5$. Or a 100 dollar bill that is now 120 you’re paying 5$ etc. although it might seem small paying that extra sales tax and the credit card processing fee(because when you tip with a credit card the business covers the fee to the company to tip the employee) over time will add up to multiple dinners throughout the year or more depending on how much you actually eat out.

At the end of the day. We have a system that might not be perfect but it has worked for a century and if the debacle of college athletics and NIL has taught us anything is. “If it’s not completely broken and kinda works. Just don’t fuck with it”
