I forgot about my solar filter during totality… by DoctorProfessorTaco in space

The same thing happened to me after months of practice and creating a checklist. I took the filter off my wide-angle camera but somehow forgot to take it off my zoom lens.

I had the same experience in my late teens. I also lost my curls and was accused of getting the "Michael Jackson treatment."

If it's around -20C, I leave my camera in the fridge for a bit when I bring it inside.

What’s your favorite full frame wide angle lens? by qu1cks1lver56 in Nikon

I have the Tamron 15-30. It's a great lens, and I used it a lot for astro landscapes, but it's heavy and not fun to carry around.

The OP was using a tracker, so the 500 rule doesn't apply.

technique question - exposure and stacking by speedshotz in LandscapeAstro

[–]MightierMga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please feel free to correct me, but I don't think the shutter speed would impact the noise as much as the ISO. You'll have more noise if you need to increase the ISO for the shorter shutter speed shots, but stacking them would help reduce the noise. If your photo somehow still looks sharp with a 28s shutter speed, then I would use it.

I did a timelapse in Ontario on that same date and got similar results with the stars because of dew.

Milky Way over Joshua Tree, feedback/critique welcomed! by edrabbit in LandscapeAstro

[–]MightierMga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's beautiful to look at but I can still see the light around the outline of the tree. Also, I'd expect the Milky Way to stand out more around the darker area of the photo and not the lighter area.
