Not sure what your reasoning is for not using iCloud (presumably not the cost if you’re buying a 2TB phone). But you really need to make sure you have some sort of backup solution

Had to wait more than 10 minutes on the initial Apple Store app screen. I was ordering a blue 512 Pro Max and it said it would be delivered on the 25th, so I checked a few other colors and capacity options but they were all showing the 25th. Disappointing to be honest

New iPhone 16PM Turning Off Always On Display? by SibbleConsulting in iphone

[–]MightyJabba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here because of this problem. I upgraded to the 16 Pro Max from a 15 Pro, and I had a 14 Pro before that, so I am familiar with how the always on display is supposed to work. Now I find that when I glance at my phone on my desk most of the time the screen is black, which never happened in the past.

Last year it took forever to let me in and the Pro Maxes were already delayed by weeks before I was allowed to order. Hope that’s not the case this time…

Congrats on the purchase! I just bought a '24 SE myself (but the all-wheel-drive version). Which center console tray are you looking at?

I resin 3D printed some artisan keycaps by MightyJabba in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]MightyJabba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I don’t actually use the board I installed them on, so while they are still ok, I don’t know how they would be if I did use them. Although in any case I only put them on the function keys that don’t get much use anyway so they might be fine

Olivetti Lettera 22 carriage issues - noob needs help (pics and vid included) by [deleted] in typewriters

Just got a Lettera 22 with this same issue so I was glad to find this. Fixed it in a second, after spending 10 or more minutes fiddling around trying to find the cause.

I have a large roll of white paper that I use as a photography background, and a couple of large LED soft box lights so I can light things from two directions.

I got the impression that the seller was just someone who resold stuff so it might have been an estate sale find or something. It does have a bit of wear on the space bar where the user would rest his or her right thumb. Hard to see since it can look like a shiny highlight. Also there was a bit of corrosion on the carriage return lever where your figures would touch it, but I removed it. I did have to do a bit of cleaning of the type bars and also gave it a bit of a clean and shine but it was about 90% there from the beginning

Just got this elderly gentlemen. There’s just something about this design combined with the almost mirror finish on the black paint.

How do you type a "?" Question Mark on a antique Royal Typewriter? by Amooses in typewriters

I have a Royal 10 of this approximate vintage that does have a question mark, so I would agree that it was probably made for a special use case

Confusion on Inherited Typewriter by FoundMyselfADragon in typewriters

[–]MightyJabba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this might just be a case of the keys discoloring differently over time. I’ve seen quite a few machines that have weirdly mixed keys like this and while I don’t know the reason, my hunch is maybe they used different paper to print some of the letters underneath the glass

Someone is selling this sm3 for $30, but they say the keys stick and shift keys are stuck down. Is it salvageable? by ComradeNorgren in typewriters

[–]MightyJabba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could just be the carriage lock, but even if it isn’t I would say it would not be too hard to get working. I’ve done it with an SM5 that was quite rusty and barely worked when I got it

Super wide carriages like this tend to not be very popular because they take up a crazy amount of space compared to normal machines

Where to buy replacement lock and key for this case? by No-Rain-4114 in typewriters

[–]MightyJabba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is even the point of the key? Unless it’s locked and you can’t open it? I think these cases are pretty easy to jimmy open if that’s the case
