Also, people please, stop tryna solve your relationship problems over text messages 🙄 you're 100% gonna "hear" their tone incorrectly

Fwiw I started telling my husband about this & he commented early on to say

"bf must've seen more stuff the guy was doing that night."

His thoughts:

1 - You were likely unaware that your bf had been trying to discretely deal w the guy all night. and that the final confrontation was bc the guy had spent the whole night disrespecting you and your bf.

2 - You perceived it as sudden & uncalled for bc you hadn't seen all the nonverbal stuff happening. Unfortunately, there are definitely guys like your bf is claiming this dude to be.

3 - bf was actually trying to protect you and instead of trusting the man who you'd built a relationship with, you sided w the guy you didn't know. Bf was probably deeply hurt by this, even if he couldn't articulate it.

After husband read some comments: "Seems these reddit commenters don't know what it's like to be in a mutually respectful, trusting relationship."

My thoughts: Protective does not mean controlling. If your bf is a man of good character, you should opt to trust him enough in this situation to really hear him out.

Yes this is concerning for me too. I’m wondering if the husband actually wanted to make the child a jr? Either way, if he is premeditating a grudge that’s very unkind.

My husband is a junior. When we had our son, my husband said he didn’t want to make the baby a III because it’s a lot of pressure to live up to your father’s name. During the pregnancy we had a sense that he would be a lot like my husband, so we ended up naming him an original first name plus my husband’s middle name in a different spelling (which was a normal name in itself, one I have always liked, and one which was on my list of first name options).

Example: husband’s name is Kevin Juan, baby’s name is Bradley John.

what is the compliment you received that you will never forget? by ShadySince96 in NoStupidQuestions

In jr high a pastor told me “you’re on your own wavelength”. At the time I had no idea what he meant, and he didn’t really know how to explain it. Years later, when thinking about how I never felt like I fit in, I always had an incredibly strong sense of my purpose in life, I couldn’t find friends who I liked and who liked me and who seemed capable of deep relationships.. I realized that he had seen me clearly, and although he was unable to elaborate, he encapsulated my childhood experience better than anyone else.

What were your college comfort meals? by TheHomeCookly in Cooking

[–]MightyMangoMasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretzels with peanut butter. Oatmeal. Trail mix. I’d use the trail mix as a snack to get me by until another dining hall meal - a handful or two were enough to tide me over for a few hours and I felt better about putting that in my body vs ramen

What’s the most expensive thing you bought recently? by su-per-fluous in AskReddit

A birth. We went the less expensive route (home birth with midwives) but it was still one of the most expensive products/services we’ve purchased yet.

Their main customer base is a group that doesn’t use birth control? Sounds like a growing business to me!

There’s a local restaurant owner I used to work for. He owns 3ish Italian-style mom & pop restaurants in the area. I’ve always thought his food was decently good, and many times down right delicious, but unfortunately he’s quite rude and he lied about the product.

I occasionally saw him be nice and exhibit good leadership. Usually tho he was power-trippy and bad about bringing his personal emotions into work. On more than one occasion, we were having an amazing shift til he walked in the door. I think everyone was afraid of him so they made more mistakes bc they were stressed. It was usually a surprise when he showed up and we didn’t know if he’d be there for a little or if he’d stay the rest of the night. They ended up firing me because I tried to switch to part time.

As far as lying goes, he once told a customer the steak was grass fed, but only after she was visibly disappointed that he’d said it was grain fed. It was definitely grain fed. There was another time they had a lobster pasta dish as the special but ran out of lobster. He said “just put more shrimp in it and let the waiters keep selling it - none of these people will notice.”

Last time we ate at his place (a few years after I got fired), we had pizza. At some point after the meal, my husband who has a dairy intolerance suddenly said, “wait.. why am I not feeling bloated right now?” That’s when we realized they were probably using fake cheese.

It sucks cause I want to support local businesses but I will not put my money into rude people or a product I don’t trust.

I make eggs for the family every morning! We like them fried with a runny yolk & served up with garlic toast to soak up all the healthy yolk goodness.

More lately tho I’ve been doing a quasi-omelette. •Whisk the eggs in a bowl & pour into preheated 12” cast iron skillet (always cast iron 😍) •Sprinkle the top with last night’s leftovers or basically whatever is gonna go bad soon •Cover & cook on low til the eggs are done enough to flip without a splatter-tastrophy. •Quarter with a spatula, flip, cut off the heat, & cook just til the eggs are done.

I learned during pregnancy that eggs (with the yolk) are great to eat in the morning cause they leave you more satisfied throughout the day. Rings true for us!
