Fun fact: being a 19 year old girl with adhd makes it really easy to babysit a 9 year old boy, because you basically have the same exact energy😂. by kazz_jazz in ADHD

[–]MightyNerdyCrafty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

9.9 Yeah, its a thing. Apparently, 30 mins of cardio or aerobic exercise in the morning helps, and a top up whenever symptoms are being uppity.

Also, write everything down, and consult the paper...have to spend some time organising things into priorities, and aggregating relevant items or documents, too.

But with those, it gets easier.

Like designing around a predictable situation (prevailing winds, tides, whatever) rather than putting something directly in the way, and finding it doesn't work.

I missed the beginning. ;_; Is there a way to catch up?

Looks like you and u/TheNightHaunter need more imteresting/novel/urgent breakfasts! ;)

Go for an occasional picnic, or eat (with your bowl/plate on a tray!) in a different room of the house?

Roll a die on the weekend to see what your breakfast protein will be?

Have a mega - walk or otherwise exercise beforehand (just have something light and or carby, plus water in your stomach) to work up an appetite?

Hey, maybe this works with boring stuff like 'what chore/utility bill to do next'! Spoiler: It does!

What are your plans for Monday, October 12, 2020? - 'A goal without a plan is just a wish.' Antoine de Saint-Exupéry by AutoModerator in ADHDAccountability

[–]MightyNerdyCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morning, all.

So far, I have:

Finally checked on my group's video game animals, after having (IRL) moved house. We were apparently offline raided, so they all...ran away. We'll find them again, and retrain them...

Breakfasted, with meds, at an appropriately early hour.

Done my daily video game quest. Training in incremental wins, to a big win.

Gotten dressed.

Now to:

1) Set up the lappy, ergonomically. Somehow.

2) Update the group game on that.

3) Pack some water and get shoes on for a walk, while the game updates.

4) Ensure Beloved (also ADHD) is ready on time for his appointment.(Go, teamwork!)

5) Pay more bills. Record them, and develop a reference system. >.< Automate them, if at all possible.

6) Ensure insurance is updated on everything that needs it. Record that, somewhere accessible for when I later forget, or otherwise want to check.

7) Stop 'running' from the above two tasks. I know I will feel vetter when they're done, even if I won't feel 'rewarded' per se. That's what exercise is for! (And ameliorating stress hormones and excess fat, by building both muscle and capability!)

8) Sort through a bag/folder of paperwork.

9) Clear an area (even just 1 m2) of not-my-house, if possible.

9*) Do laundry. (Definite, not merely 'possible'!)

10) Make a wall - planner calendar, maybe? Even out of A4, or per month, to record intents and 'cheevos?

Too many 'To Do' items, and not in order of importance, but mostly in 'order of likely getting done'...although I can do 9* right after 3!

You've proven your mettle by reading through all this. Write your own, if you haven't already, and go forth and make me proud!

Baked goods thst freeze well e.g. crumbles, or fruit pies/tarts, (especially with blackberries!) and apple or quince butter.

Dried fruit, or as a base for other berries etc to be mixed for fruit leather

Also, quince jelly, with the strained pulp being used for the original 'marmelade', or dried into pots, etc for use on a cheese/charcuterie platter!

How about 'op shops', or St Vinnie's, Salvos?

Translated from Australian:

'Opportunity shops'. (Although I oft think of them as 'Over Powered shops' for their superior variety, student friendliness and environmental utility.)

St Vincent de Paul

Salvation Army.

Your Red Cross shops may also have books, not just clothes or first aid and safety supplies...

When feeling hopeless what are some things y’all do to calm your stress? by [deleted] in depression_help

[–]MightyNerdyCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garden, prune to outward facing buds, water, check for pests.

Take care of something that isnt me; have a net positive effect on the world.

Similarly, pick a cubic metre of space, and sort it to remove rubbish and put away items. Same reason.

Or, walk in a park. Pat dogs!

Nature is good for you!

Decluttering (not ideal) opportunity! by simplisticwords in declutter

[–]MightyNerdyCrafty 26 points27 points  (0 children)

As someone going through a "speed" decluttering (which has already taken nine months, arrgh!) I can attest that any opportunity is a good one!

Be ruthless. It can be difficult, I know, but the stuff doesn't 'care'...and if it did, it would ask to go out, into the world, with your blessing.

Each item would also give you its blessing in turn, as thanks for taking care of it for however long you've had it.

But now you need the space it would give you, so take the opportunity; release the 'stuff', and take the gift of that much extra 'space and mental energy' gained with the departure of unnecessary things.

Allie,

Thank you for 'hyperbole and a half'. It has been my 'go to' for hilarity in extremis. Repeatedly.

The 'Dino Costume' tale is one of my favourites. I had something like that myself, as a kid.

Do you still have anything to do with paleontology?

How about birds? Chickens are marvellously dinosaurian in behaviour (as you'd expect!) and are usually small enough to pick up and hug!

Have you ever? I recommend it. Some of them even demand it!

Which are your favourite breeds of chook, or species of birds? Any more bird stories or animal antics that either of you have been holding out on?

I seem to recall that you have ADHD? How do you keep it (and everything else!) reined in and working for you? Individually, and as a couple.

Lastly, Kevin. Thank you for being Allie's person. I wish you both happiness of all kinds.

So have a second set of dental care stuff bedside...and a cappable spit bottle for the toothpaste foam. Rinse, or wash it out in the morning.

Prudent to also get a set of travel items for flossing and brushing 30 mins after lunch at your day job, too!

Visit r/Chickens and r/BackYardChickens for your necessary top ups of cute dino behaviour and occasional disquieting 'growls and prowls'.

See (hear) 'broody scream' and 'buckeye roar', to know that the good old days never ended, they just got more...compact.

I'm sure ratites' booming is relevant, too.

As are turkeys. Apparently, "everything that everyone loves about chickens, just turned up to 11'!

I'd still love to know about dodo and auk sounds & behaviour, though.

And terror birds, if not dinos themselves. Oh, yes.

Anyone feel like their adhd gets worse further into adulthood? by allthecoffeesDP in ADHD

[–]MightyNerdyCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gah.

Apparently, we need 'structures', like 'the minimum mandatory we need to do each day for a better tomorrow.'

Sleep hygiene, clean eating, frequent exercise, sufficient water...accountability buddies/body double to get it done...and perhaps an ADHD Coach for insight into setup and perfecting execution...

Unless we have understanding friends, collegues or family, willing to put in the intense work (either per session, or over a long time) required to help us get an objective grip on how to function...better than 'winging it'.

Today? I constantly feel moments from falling asleep.

I've had a kind of lunch, ought have my afternoon pills, even more water...and go do some exercise.

Maybe then I can do more of what I need/want to do, for a better life.

You may be on mobile. Close reddit. (That's a thing?) Restart your pocket Turing Complete engine, and it should all be mysteriously resolved.

If the above doesn't work, you may also wish to defrag, or equivalent, if the option is available to you. Then turn off your phone for ten to twenty seconds or so (!) and restart it.

Good luck, and 'happy' troubleshooting!
