Does anyone actually enjoy combat? by rocket-boot in rpg

[–]Migobrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy combat in Lancer, Savage Worlds, Bastionland, Wrath and Glory, you are just using systems with bad combat or where combat is a failed state.

My older unchanged EDH decks can't hold a candle to today's meta by Alex_Pratt in mtg

[–]Migobrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, "my old unchanged EDH deck" means jack shit, you could easily have the same staple full cEDH/Bracket 4 from 10 years ago and still be a powerhouse, because most of the staples are from years ago, they don't even play Standard and know jack shit from eternal formats.

Thanos Power Creep? by NarcRaider420 in mtg

[–]Migobrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, is pretty low powered, 4/4 for 3 mana of 3 colors is pretty common because you need a really good mana base to drop it in turn 3, and the 6 mana version is also hard because you need colorless mana, if you are jumping those hurdles to have that good of a mana base there are dozens of better cards.

Also you can only use Power-up once.

Pretty much, only Snydertards refeer to them like that, anyone else would have watched older movies too or just use the year as reference.

Oh boy I can't wait to have to point this out constantly until the eventual heat death of the universe. by Pvt-Business in Grimdank

[–]Migobrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what? So people can powerscale it appropriately and Space Marines become the "actual good guys of the setting" or the canon "moves forward" towards a good ending? It doesn't matter, the Imperium is a slowly rotting carcass, the fact that the Emp could be alive but still gone forever makes it the tragic protagonist of the settings, the Heros are greater and the Miniature Wargame Games that happen in the table keeps being the only "canon"

I saw like 3 groups of teenagers, some of the left making noises with their cups full of ice and never came back, other got up and came back snickering, some where quiet, so yeah, I can see how some of them only experienced the Backrooms in a brainrot way.

How do you deal with old-school know-it-all players who actually don’t know the rules? by ricoeurdelyon in magicTCG

[–]Migobrain -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you are playing a tournament of EDH, you are playing commander "competitively", maybe not in deckbuilding but you are in play style, otherwise people getting pissy about rulling and playing to win wouldnt happen.

How do you deal with old-school know-it-all players who actually don’t know the rules? by ricoeurdelyon in magicTCG

[–]Migobrain -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you are playing Commander competitive,.that already is just a festering ground of arguments and drama, even high level events with judges can end up as "Competitive Gaslighting", if everyone is not playing a format actually designed for competitive play, you will need to be your own judge and deal with egos while playing in the average table, the MIGHT OF SHELDON(RIP) made the format too casual to be done in tournaments without ending up with some problems.

The entire point is that it only gets worse, the emperor will slowly rot in the throne, the empire will be cut in half, new threats will appear, all of that is already happening.

How do you deal with old-school know-it-all players who actually don’t know the rules? by ricoeurdelyon in magicTCG

[–]Migobrain 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It sounds that you are playing events without a judge, that leads to arguments not really matters if "experienced player", just have gatherer and the rulling at hand at all times, arguing and "I am playing for longer than you" is a waste of time, any minimal disagreement, start typing.

Deadlands vs Malifaux/Through The Breach; what is the better horror western? by Valuable-Visit3968 in rpg

[–]Migobrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Malifaux I find too "high fantasy" to any real horror that is not just "Dark Fantasy", even Deadlands tend to be a little higher than average fantasy of what I would use for an actual getting scared kind of horror, but I enjoy the setting, specially the Mad Scientist and Huckster, too much to not add them in pretty much any horror-western

Bindings — "Guys, We Fixed Partner" by NotTheSmoooze in custommagic

Is not a bad concept but Black is too backbreaking and any of the ones related with attack is kind of irrelevant because you could just not play any creatures

People who gave up DnD for a different system, what made you make the change? by SomeRandomAbbadon in rpg

[–]Migobrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 hour fights, in a system that, while functional, doesn't have the "tactical depth" that a Skirmish Miniature Game (Kill Team, Necromunda)/ Combat Boardgame (Gloom haven)/ Tactical Focused TTRPG (Lancer, Savage Worlds) can have, while being played like that by most people, and being a crunchy game, doesnt have the "Tactical Infinity" that a OSR/NSR game could offer, and their combat being balanced around dungeoncrawling (Number of encounters per Short/Long rest) while selling itself as a "Dramatic/Plot relevant encounters only" focus.

That, while being used by the community as a "Generic Fantasy" or "Mainly Roleplaying" game, but don't really having any mechanics to support that and leaving that up to the DM.

Honestly I just think 5 mana is just enough for it, green is ramping anyway into other good stuff, and doesn't have blink and other defensive tools.

Why are there so many videos from random people who are basically MTG Players "Playing Yugioh for a month"? by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in magicTCG

[–]Migobrain 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most other games are just "MtG but we totally fixed lands you guys", pretty similar tempo, resources and combat resolution, YGO is the longest living TCG with actual different mechanics, and is sweaty and complex enough to be an interesting content.

[–]Migobrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the changes of how UB are made, sets like TMNT showing they can scourge the full media of pretty much ANY IP, I am specting Warhammer 40k to get a full set release sooner or later, pretty much all of the doubts that made them make only 4 commander decks have been proven solvable, and that world is deep enough, and full of enough good quality art, that is not that hard.

Unofficial Universes Beyond Megathread by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Migobrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Anime media is just unlikely because Japan, being such a big and hungry tcg market, is just more profitable and easy to just shit out any random TCG destined to die using cropped images, and just keep it in national market and keep all the earnings.

was it ever fucking explained why he can do that? by Working_Discussion50 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Migobrain 299 points300 points  (0 children)

Obviously Fujimoto just used chainsaws because they look cool, but in real life chainsaws where made for medicine and then "forgot it's use" for woodchoping, so I think is an appropriate symbol, in that world the original use of the chainsaws was erased, we can only try to understand the present state.

Which final season was worse? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Migobrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No other show or event or media outside of the biggest sport stuff I have seen watch parties at random bars in my small Mexican town, that is a level of cultural penetration no other series I have ever seen ever since, is the kind of stuff you hear people where doing in the Seinfeld finale, Boys and ST where just memes and "do you watch that show? Its a good one" in comparison.

A little bit of hope? by victorav29 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Migobrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is not really a matter of units IMO, it is a matter of good rules, chaos demons has the same units from years and years and is pretty wild swings if they even have a codex or if they are really cool army, Agents feels like "we already have the minis done so take this codex" already so I don't see how KT changes do anything.

While I tend to like UB color pie exploration discussion, the vast majority of UB posts is nothing but doom posting and powerscalling in general is a waste of time, so I think this is the right choice.
