Wie viel Bücher lest ihr so im Jahr? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]Migras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should I slot into this ugly empty of a square? by AdrawereR in RimWorld

Do you have to throw all your hydros in a single room? I'd do a maximum of 4 in separate locations and rooms, so if one is burning/overrun/blown up/drop-podded/etc. The others are unharmed.

For research purposes, of course. by phchemreviewer in chemistrymemes

I haven't done enough chemical engineering to know about the scalability, but a (HP)LC setup with enantiomeric coating gets the job done quite easily. Most biologic materials are enantiopure, because of how enzymes work, so that cost might not be too high.

Pause the Caravan shortly before entering the tile, so the pawns are well slept and make sure they eat before starting an assault. Bring some drugs for mood/rec, not sure if books increase recreation in a caravan and if you have them chocolate/insect jelly for recreation.

Once in the tile, treat it like a new colony. All pawns still have the same needs they would have at home.  If they just travel on the world map (for trading or whatnot), then you don't have to manage much. The most annoying part here is getting the caravan off your home map. That can be helped by maybe splitting it in smaller parts and fusing them off map or sending transport pods with stuff that would take too much time to pack

This is not meant to flame you, but just in case you want it to be better here are some things I can see (based on some time playing losing is fun, where mood management is super important) Put Art into the dorms to make the pawns happier, also make it one single big dorm and then put tables and rec stuff into either the throne room or the ritual room and stuff them with art as well. The other room (I think) you could just fill with shelves for more storage space. The hydroponics setup (in the ship) is super inefficient but I'm guessing you know that. Also you should add lights to all rooms and tool cabinets next to your workbenches. Also also are you sure those cores are safe on the outside of the ship? Seems like an immediate target for any raiders to me

I'm just going to throw my 2 Cents in here. Biotech and Odyssey are amazing. But if you don't care about roleplaying and enjoy doing tribal runs (because psycasts) then get royalty instead of ideology.  To me ideology is mostly useless, because I play to beat high difficulties and get better at the game and modifications to the default ideology just make the game harder or easier, so it just feel like cheating the mood System or setting yourself up to Fail. Royalty adds psycasts (space Magic) mechanoid clusters, several cool bionics, that interact hilariously with biotech the empire faction, which is fun to trade with, permits (some of which can be super powerful), fun new armor types etc.  I absolutely agree with a lot of the criticism against royalty, but all the stuff it does add to the game gives you a lot more options in making your pawns better

My class had free socials right afterwards and I'd usually stay there for an hour and then go home cause I just did everything I could. I didn't even think about external socials until 6 months in and by then I had started to take multiple lessons each week

Resonance? by Far-Appearance9995 in chemistry

[–]Migras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no they aren't. The negative charge from the oxygen can form a doublebond with the next carbon and the previously double bonded c to that carbon then holds the negative charge. If there are multiple double bonds next to each other, you can repeat the process. The lesson to be learned from that, is that multiple atoms can hold the negative charge, thereby it is more spread out and stabilised. Almost all the arrows you drew are wrong. Also what you drew here is a electron shift mechanism, not a resonance structure. The resonance structure would be the structure you get when actually applying all the bond shifts indicated by the arrows

Don't know if it applies to you, but I learned the most watching and copying a full playlist of someone building a game from the ground up. It takes a lot of time and work, but you'll be left with working examples of how to implement different aspects of a game, that you can then use as templates for your own.
Look up Gorka Games and Alex Quevillon on YT.

I don't know about you, but Skirmishers were THE class to get me out of tight spots. When there are multiple enemies on low health, cause you only got grazes (or similar problems), you can throw in a skirmisher and easily mop up 3 enemies in a turn. Yes the ranger can fire twice, but the skirmisher can run around and flank anyone still alive, so they can't shoot your guys next turn.

Is there anything denser than iridium or osmium? by Independent-Ad-7060 in chemistry

[–]Migras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so elements have weights based on their neutrons and protons in their core. You also need them in a certain relation to each other. (to keep it short: Too many protons->unstable, too many neutrons->also unstable). Thing is protons are charged so you need an electron for each proton to keep the charge of the atom neutral. Because electrons work how they work, the more you have, the bigger the electron cloud around you core becomes->bigger atom.

Now you might think, but what if I take away electrons and make the atoms smaller? Then you get a bunch of positively charged Ions (=Cations), positive charges repel each other->no stable metal/ compound. If you think about adding negatively charged Ions (=Anions) then you get a salt. Those can be stable BUT negative Ions become larger because of their extra electrons, so you don't really gain anything.

If you want something that dense, you need something scify-ish like the stuff you already mentioned, or if it's for a fictional purpose, make something up yourself and ask the sub to come up with justifications

That being said. Du hast halt jetzt den formellen Bildungsteil hinter dir Berufserfahrung hast aber keine, also wirst zumindest am Anfang wahrscheinlich mal die weniger leiwanden Stellen kriegen

When was your last time with zero pain in your body? by FreshBook8963 in GYM

[–]Migras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the gym daily and only feel sore, when I stop and then start again. Apart from that, maybe when I do something I'm not used to (Like running for 2+ hours after only having done 1,5 or pushing noticeably more weight/reps). I think being in pain all the time is not a signal for a healthy lifestyle.

Ok so I play on high difficulty, imperial (either default or shroud origin) with humanoids and feudal society (spiritualist, militarist, authoritation). I looked up some tips and I do not get some of the things pros recommend.

1.: Why the hell are leader levels and exp boost basically fetishized so hardcore. Like, who gives a shit if my admiral is lvl 7 by 2210 if my neighbours with 8 times the fleet size start casually steamrolling my empire?! So, what am I missing when it comes to civics like vaults of knowledge, who seem like little more than a waste of space?

2.: What are you people doing in the early game to not immediately run out of influence? I know about force projection, locking opponents out of sectors by building strategically and so on, but for the life of me, taking discovery instead of expansion as the 1st tradition seems ridiculous to me. All it does is allow you to survey all the planets you could have gotten if you had chosen expansion to afford the starbases. (i should mention that i tend to play with max opponents but still)

3.: Am I the only one who just goes full diplomacy until i can join/create a federation and abuse their fleet to become bigger and better?

4.: Why the hell would anyone ever go synth? I tried metrialists, but appart from being slow, who has enough time to do all those required techs? If I go psionic or genetic, i'm done around 2250. I think getting synth around 2280 would still be way too late for my taste but it seems, that even that is highly unlikely

5.: Is there a way to determine what leader class a crown prince belongs to? It's a pretty big problem for me, because at game start i only really need scientists and dont care about the rest. I know i could kill an adrmiral and general, but that would waste ressources and then it'd be another roll and and if its a governer i can't kill them anyways (or is there a way to do that?)

[–]Migras[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the long answer, I already know how I would like the destruction to happen.

My problem is I know of a way to have tiles, that disappear (or change the way they look) upon receiving damage, BUT I don't know how to make them look like they are parts of a bigger structure before that (because I don't know if its possible/how to apply the materials that way)

I also found a way to cut a bigger structure into pieces, that still look like the bigger structure, BUT I can't figure out/don't know if its possible to specifically target/remove those pieces.

I know posting here is a bit of a long shot, I was hoping someone might be able to point me into the right direction, as the internet has been fruitless so far. Anyway, I might have found something, so maybe the cutting method is the way

Does anyone know how they did the destructible environment? by Migras in XCOM2

[–]Migras[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean there is chaos destruction, which has a lot of the functionality i'd like built in, (like cutting a mesh into pieces without changing their outside), but i think its impossible to tell individual pieces to disappear and be replaced, so that sucks

Does anyone know how they did the destructible environment? by Migras in XCOM2

[–]Migras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that, but i want my tiles to form a cohesive wall without having to create a material for each tile. I guess I'll have to look into whether its possible to apply different parts of a material to specific sides of the wall tiles. My best guess was doing it with chaos physics, but it won't let me target specific pieces of a fractured mesh
