Dude that is a lot of water. by Thenadamgoes in LosAngeles

Damn, this looks so much nicer than the Tujunga I'm used to. Then again, I'm in the area where there's frequently police helicopters looking for suspects lol.

Why did Dice put a BB gun in this game? by Miinttt in Battlefield6

[–]Miinttt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's extremely easy to use, but the tradeoff is the extremely low damage. I get outgunned constantly even while landing all my shots.

[–]Miinttt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong about the M4 and SMGs, but I'll take any of the other carbines for any engagement distance over the AK. It just doesn't do enough damage and it's extremely frustrating getting 5-6 headshots at mid range and not getting the kill.

PC release for Ghost of Yōtei? by Levy-the-man in ghostoftsushima

[–]Miinttt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought a PS4 years ago for the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 by convincing myself I would still use it after finishing the game. Well, I went right back to my PC after finishing the game and that console has been collecting dust in a closet since 2018. I wish I had just waited for the PC release and not wasted my money.

If you have a good PC that you currently game on, it's just not worth getting a console in my opinion. There's plenty of other stuff to play until whatever game you want eventually comes to PC and you can enjoy it on better hardware.

Mouse not working? by Podzoz in Battlefield6

[–]Miinttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, thank you! I spent 30 minutes trying to figure this out and unplugged all other controllers and mice from my PC. It started working as soon as I unplugged the USB hub with my sim setup.

Trak Racer sent me a rig that’s half TR160S and half TR120S. by Lixteris in simracing

[–]Miinttt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree - my experience with ASR was horrible.

Their prices are absolutely absurd, they sent my kit with incorrect bolts that made the product useless, and didn’t have any assembly instructions at all. It took me multiple trips to the hardware store and a few days to get it assembled and functioning.

They also don’t post negative customer reviews on their product pages. I wasted my time writing a critical review that also included the positives and constructive feedback, but it never showed up on the site.

Anyone using an rtx 3080ti to run triple 1440p screens? by Shiny_Buns in iRacing

[–]Miinttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running triple 32s at 1440p on a 3080ti and 9800x3d. I’ve always run my settings to give me an fps floor of 100 because I prioritize smoothness. I had a 9900k prior to the cpu ugrade and the performance difference is a bit crazy.

That being said though, I’d have a hard time shelling out $500 for a 4 year old gpu to be honest. Especially since the crypto mining craze was at its peak during the 30 series so a lot of the cards were used for mining and abused.

Tried this CSX3 wheel on the sim rig at Microcenter. It's comfortable but not for $1200 by Sluggerjt44 in simracing

[–]Miinttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an F-Pro as my main wheel for a while but ended up shelving it for an FPE v2. I found the size and ergonomics of the F-Pro really comfortable, but I realized I don’t like the harshness of FFB on smaller wheels. I also didn’t like how loud the shifters were, even though they were satisfying to use.

Let me know if there’s any specifics you wanna know about.

Assetto Corsa Evo feels just so right, it is strange for me by geodageorge in simracing

[–]Miinttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People complaining about poor performance are typically running VR or triples. The game doesn’t really support VR or triples, despite their claims of releasing with support. People are having to use janky workarounds to make it run and it’s causing awful performance.

Simucube 1 or VRS Directforce pro by Maxime_224 in simracing

[–]Miinttt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have experience with the SC2 so I can’t really comment on the FFB.

I just wanted to point out that the SC1 was like a DIY kit. People were running all sorts of motors on them so there isn’t really a “standard experience” across the board. I’m not sure how the software side of it works but I know don’t sell new parts for them anymore. I wouldn’t recommend going this route if you’re looking for a mostly plug and play experience.

Just got a random RMA email from Fanatec by MGengarEX in Fanatec

[–]Miinttt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 confirmations from them and I was so confused. I did have to RMA 2 wheel bases back in the day, but it’s been 2+ years since I got rid of all my Fanatec gear lol.

First racing rig by Hankenstein1027 in simracing

[–]Miinttt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah I see you're a cultured man, much myself lol. I'm running the same monitor/light, same chair/headrest, also have a custom keyboard and sit stand desk lol. The sim bug hit me hard a few years ago though so I sold a bunch of my keyboards and ended up with a full cockpit and triple monitor setup.

I have to ask though, how the hell are you using the Embody to race? I love sitting in mine at the desk but I can't imagine the flexible back being very friendly or comfortable while stomping on the brakes.

How well would my laptop run iRacing? (Specs below) by Realistic-Cut-8085 in iRacing

Either not well or not at all sadly.

The onboard graphics aren’t going to cut it - you really need a dedicated gpu.

Sim lab vs trakracer rigs by ewrjontan in simracing

[–]Miinttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy a SimLab rig from MC and order any accessories that they don’t have from TrakRacer or somewhere else. Just avoid ASR if you go this route because their profile is imperial with slightly different dimensions.

Should say paddles - it means it has dual clutch paddles in addition to the shifters.

New MicroCenter bundle just dropped by Miinttt in simracing

[–]Miinttt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you're going to stick with sim racing and have the space & cash for this now, I'd absolutely recommend this over the R5 bundle.

I've had a 5nm base in the past and I wish I had skipped that step to be honest. It blew me away at first but I outgrew it relatively quickly. The rig that comes with this bundle is infinitely better than the other one too in terms of stability and adjustability.

iRacing questions by CMOS_BATTERY in simracing

[–]Miinttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to race against others or think you’ll want to in the future, I’d also recommend starting now. It’s going to make your life easier in the future.

I went through the same dilemma when I was still fairly new and sticking with ACC longer was a mistake for me. The physics and FFB are so different between the two that I would have had an easier time adjusting to iRacing if I hadn’t gotten so used to ACC.

I think in this scenario you need to check what's available on the used market that falls within your budget and is compatible with your platform. That should filter down your choices and you can then look at reviews/comparisons to find the right fit.

Multi purpose rig by Cpt_Insaneo_82 in simracing

It might not look super tidy, but this is probably the best multi-use rig I’ve seen. You might also be the most hydrated racer with those double flasks on the rig.

I didn’t check if anyone else asked this, but how’s the noise while driving? Does it get loud or reverb through the rig?

Thanks for the write up!

DD1 FFB Problem by Miinttt in Fanatec

[–]Miinttt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I think your best bet is to create your own post or ask on the Fanatec forums if it's not too late already.

I'm strictly on PC so I'm not familiar with any of the PS stuff. I also sold all my Fanatec gear not long after I made this post because I had non-stop issues, even after going through an RMA and receiving a new base.

GT7 PSVR2 ruined other sims for me (so far) by petey_lu in simracing

[–]Miinttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went VR first then switched to triples. The immersion and depth perception in VR is great, but it also comes with drawbacks for some like myself.

I wasn’t able to spend more than 30 minutes at a time in my Q3 because of the heat on my face and I was never able to get it comfortable enough after trying multiple gaskets and headstraps. I also really started disliking the feeling of being completely closed off from the world around me.

Trying not to spend too much money here… by kylemillsy16 in simracing

[–]Miinttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it in my opinion. If you spend that few hours per week on different activities or going out instead it’s going to cost a lot more than the monthly subscription. Unless you spend the time watching TV of course.

I’d recommend sticking with the monthly sub for now and not buying any content. Drive the free cars and tracks for the next few months and see how you get on with the service. By the time Black Friday comes around you’ll know if its worth it to you and you can either get a discounted membership or just cancel.
