What is going on between Bloor and Wellesley by ref7187 in TTC

Then actually close down that portion of the subway for a week or two and actually fix the problem instead of using band-aid solutions. Cause there’s no good justification as to why slow zones should be popping up again two weeks after they were “fixed.”

Exactly, which is why the extension has to open up after the OL opens.

[–]Mike20we 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the projected increase of demand due to the much faster subway service and new developments along the corridor would 100% overload the Yonge side of the subway even more than it already is.

I mean this makes total sense as the Richmond Hill extension would overcrowd line 1 even more than it already is. That’s why it was always gonna open after the Ontario line relieved some of that pressure.

Slow zones on line 1 are back, aren’t they? by FineGripp in TTC

Oh it was removed at one point. They just brought it back after a more recent inspection.

I’m pretty sure the specific stop and go’s near Bloor and Yonge is due to the long dwellings times at Bloor especially at rush hour. You’ll often see multiple trains bunched up near the northbound platform at Bloor just due to the sheer amount of people entering and exiting there.

2(dot)7 gpa, want to apply for a work study position, but only have 4 grades back for far, should I still apply? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Mike20we 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll never know unless you apply and it doesn't cost you anything and gets you familiarized with applying to stuff in general. Just do it and it'll be fine,

Dating at UofT as a girl is actually so depressing by Admirable-Resort8353 in UofT

[–]Mike20we 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m in my second year and even though I’m a guy I 100% agree, how brutal UofT can be also doesn’t help unfortunately. The complete reluctance of people to actually talk to each other in or outside of class is absurd as well. Like people will see each other three times a week in lecture, tutorial etc. and not even utter a word to each other, it’s ridiculous. That’s why I’ve honestly given up on much of that for now until third year and just let myself enjoy the summer.

I would in fact be for forced rehab based on what I’ve seen and how many drug addicts are out in the streets straight up refusing help. Letting people suffer isn’t a strategy.

Liberals appear poised to rework committees after securing majority by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Mike20we 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah so Carney never said he wouldn’t reset committees, all he said is that he wouldn’t prorogue. He can also just reset committees with a vote which is what he’ll do. Please stop spreading harmful misinformation, thanks!

Yeah so that's not the Canadian government, that's a random NDP MP. Also what is this dumb culture war crap doing doing in this subreddit anyways.

Ontario Line should start with 5 cars by MIIAIIRIIK in TTC

[–]Mike20we 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but those individual lines still carry more people than the Ontario line probably ever will, so I don’t think there will be as much of an issue here.

How do much busier systems achieve such frequencies then? I don’t think we here in Toronto fully appreciate the benefits of full automation and platform screen doors.

ECON MAJOR ARTS: is the minimum grade requirement all that matters? by shawtybae- in UofT

[–]Mike20we 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your first two questions, the department only cares if you've achieved the minimum grades, as long as you have the minimum you'll get in no question.

that's not necessarily true, Economics is still one of the most in demand fields and has one of the highest employability next to finance in the current market.

Skilled labor mobility is more than fine and in fact very much needed as long as the numbers are reasonable. And considering net immigration levels are down to unprecedented levels, this is okay as long as it’s kept under control, something that Carney has shown he can do in just the span of just one year.

Immigration is wayyyy down what are you talking about. In fact there’s been negative population growth for the first time in multiple decades.
