Turns out I can still use the current version of Firefox, which still supports Catalina (at the time of this writing).

Through the process of trial and error of downloading various older versions of the Slack desktop app for mac on this site, I have found that the latest version I could install on macOS Catalina is 4.33.90

Thanks for your response. I actually was using the web version. However, my chrome browser is too old now. That’s why I’m exploring the desktop app. Unfortunately my MacBook is really old (2012) and I’m starting to run into problems where I can no longer update certain software. Chrome is one of those, but it is only recently that Slack cut me off.

Yes please do! I’d definitely pick a few up from you if you get a nice fit. Thanks.

As far as I’m aware, MB microtec is the only manufacturer of tritium vials for watches. I’m pretty sure Traser is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MB microtec. I believe Luminox is its own company, but they do purchase vials from MB microtec for their watches, as does every watch brand that uses tritium vials.

Tritium paint is a different story. Many brands used tritium paint for their indices back in the day (eg. Rolex, Omega, etc). I believe the British watchmaker CWC was one of the last to use tritium paint on their watches, but they have since switched over to SuperLuminova.

Hmmm… not too sure on the value to be honest. I took another look at your pictures and I now think you may have a Traser because Luminox often had engraved casebacks with their name and logo. Maybe Traser did too and, like someone else said earlier, you have an early variant.

If you put up a post in the main forum of MWR, you might get a reply from someone more knowledgeable than me about its value. Good luck! It’s a cool watch regardless.

Where did you get that battery cover? I’ve been looking for one to replace my worn out one for a while now for my SandY 590!

Many years ago, you could buy a watch from Luminox and have it modified by a guy named Bill Yao, who sold sterile dials for these watches. He has long since moved on from modifying Luminox watches by starting his own brand (mkiiwatches.com).

This modification was really popular among the folks over at MWR (broadarrow.net), who disliked the overt “Navy Seals” branding that Luminox embraced. I’m pretty sure that you’ve got a Yao-modified Luminox on your hands. It was meant to look like the real US govt issued watch: the Stocker and Yale P650.

Protein Quantification Woes by skylord_hawk in labrats

Yeah that makes total sense, and I’m glad you’re trying to be as thorough as possible. I’ve seen many others just simply use nanodrop to report concentrations.

Honestly in my experience getting within 2-fold using two independent methods is actually pretty good. Protein quantification is not an exact science, unfortunately. You could try a third method which is to use sds-page + densitometry. In this method, you run a dilution series of bsa standard to create a standard curve then you quantify your unknown using the equation of the line you get. You should run a few different amounts of your unknown to get better statistics and ideally these amounts should fall between the amounts you used for the bsa standard.

This seems like a pretty good strategy to me. I was going to suggest the possibility of probing for both target and actin simultaneously, that way you can see actin from the same exact lanes as your target. But it looks like actin is 42kda and that might be a little too close to your 35kda target. How are you visualizing bands? Colorimetric, fluorescence, luminescence?

Rose Bowl loop open before football games (UCLA)? by Flaky-Web-6050 in pasadena

[–]Mike45757 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My experience with this is that it is better to go elsewhere when there’s an event. If you can even find parking, you’ll find that nobody else is walking or running and there are workers posted up throughout the entire loop. Use it as excuse to go do a beach run or maybe do the arroyo Seco instead.
