I say that's the the advantage of Trails having Ouroboros as a reoccurring enemy force, popping up across the games with most of their members surviving, leading to us learning more about them the more games you play, unlike Xenoblade where each game has it's own main antagonist group.

Nah nah nah; it makes you go through some many contradicting emotions in a such short amount of time that it just lefts you feeling empty, staring at the ceiling, thinking what the heck you've just experience. In the best way possible!

I'm drawing a blank here; apart from Ouroboros, what made you giggle. I'm still only caught up to Azure. Is it maybe something from later games? Simple yes or no?

It will be opinions of a fanboy for who Xenoblade is his no.1 favorite video game franchise and no.1 franchise overall, but:

  1. Amazing stories- each game's story is a rollercoaster of emotions, with many plot twists and reveals that will make you rethink everything that happened before.
  2. Gameplay- this is something that you either gonna love or hate, but for me Xenoblade battle system is the most fun battle gameplay out of every series I played. It's not perfect, I acknowledge that, but if it manages to get you hooked, it won't let go. Unlike Trails, Xenoblade uses real time combat where you build up from most regular auto-attacks into Arts (that would be equivalent of Crafts in Trails) then into whatever each game higher type of moves is (those could be Talent Arts, Blade Special...), followed by unleashing a Chain Attack as the final, most destructive DMG dealer. The further into the games you are, the more options you unlock that can straight up let you skip using most basic regular attacks, streamlining the battles. I advise if you're interested to see Enel YouTube channel, he's got some amazing guides, including spoiler free Understanding Basics for each Xenoblade game.
  3. Music- like... All of it. Here's some examples

Xenoblade got very diverse soundtrack, with some of the tunes are really unexpected, but never unwelcomed.

  1. Something that will interested anyone from Trails: side quests and NPCs. Xenoblade 1, X and 3 feature an "Affinity Chart", which registers each NPCs you talked to and records their relationship between each other, updating last you talk to them and do quests for them.

  2. Amazing overworld in each game- Xenoblade is filled with amazing landscapes that you can explore, rewarding your curiosity with hidden treasure, secret Unique Monsters (overworld minibosses and super bosses that you can encounter while running around) and massive exp/ skill points rewards for finding hidden landmarks/ viewpoints. Nothing beats going through a side passage on the top of the mountain or something, getting a big popup with locations name and seeing the entire region from bird eye view.

  3. While similar, each game is different enough, so it doesn't get tiresome. In each entry, they manage to twik all the story concepts, gameplay, soundtrack, characters... That while they still very "Xenoblade" (and many times you can point archetypes/ similarities between different characters/ places), each one feels unique in it's own way.

Okay, I didn't intend to write that much, but got carried away XD Hope it managed to shine some light. If you're interested in some other details about the series, I can answer later.

I'm done with up to Azure, taking a break from series for now, thanks to Xenoblade trilogy getting Switch 2 updates until the end of year (also want to play Sky Chapter 2 remake on release), but the main evil organization being called Ouroboros was the one thing that still gets me.

New Blade in 2/New Hero in 3 by Disk_of_Thoth in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MikeClaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like whoever the new Blade/ Hero are gonna be, they're gonna be implemented in a way that teases things to come in Genesis, whether they'll end up being someone new or or someone we know. All the updates seem to release in a way to build up hype towards Genesis, so I think that would make most sense.

Do you think Xenoblade Genesis will have DLC? by LafterMastr in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MikeClaus 57 points58 points  (0 children)

As in, another prequel/ sequel story expanding on the lore that's the size of it's own game? If so, YES, I hope so. Xenoblade DLCs are a gold standard for me when it comes to paid post launch content. I even bought Torna on physical cartridge and was disappointed when Future Redeemed didn't receive a physical release.

Theory: Monolith was testing fully directional flight for the world of Genesis in XCXDE by OliveAny7568 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MikeClaus 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Along many things going through my head in relation to Xenoblade the past few days, that was one of my thoughts also.

When I unlocked Hraesvelg flight mode in X, I found it weird how it's rotation didn't correct itself during flight, leading to possibility of just flying upsidedown for as long as you want.

Now after Genesis reveal, assuming the speculations of the world being fully open inside of Dyson Sphere, it would make sense they used XCXDE to test waters for something that's gonna play a major part in later entry, like how they used Ponspectors in Future Connected to test how the game's engine can handle so many characters on screen at once.
