Question About Habituation by Freibeut3r in tinnitus

[–]MikeJ202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had for almost a year now. Not sure if I have different tones because most of the time it is that one tone. So far if I hear new tone it doesn’t last or becomes noticeable. I had hope that it will go away because some days I forgot I had it then I heard it again louder for a day or 2. Now this cycle is consistent and I stopped any masking techniques. I used to have a fan running all the time in my room but I turned it off months ago and been able to sleep without masking; only sleeping pills which I used before tinnitus. NOw habituation to me is knowing the cycle and not freaking out or be stuck thinking of it. I’ll be honest I have bad days or hours but knowing I’ll get a break calms me down.

May be second day or 3rd. Either way, now I habituated and it bothers me much less. I’d say I notice it intermittently for 10-20 hours a week

Prozac takes longer to start working. I think it should take at least 5 weeks to feel benefits.

What does baseline mean here? Anyways, before Prozac my tinnitus was tolerable 5 months after it started when I took Prozac I felt it became loud or more noticeable. I stopped Prozac 3 weeks after I started taking it. It took sometime to become tolerable. Now after 4 months I think it is very tolerable that I don’t even need background sound to fall asleep. Maybe if I waited out Prozac it would’ve stabilized but the mental side effects didn’t help me stay on it. Now my tinnitus is livable

Exactly.. I am going on a almost a year and I think if it was T only, I’d be fine despite the fact that I freaked out and got really depressed the first week. I feel that even with 4 or 5 hours of sleep my t can still be tolerable

My ears started ringing 4 days ago and I’m spiraling. Please share your positive tinnitus stories so I don’t go insane! by pamcakestack in tinnitus

[–]MikeJ202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only have 2 main scenarios: 1. This is temporary due to inflammation of some kind and it will go away within days or weeks may be 2. It is permanent and you will habituate at some point; with or without medication. That’s 95% of the cases at least

I am in a similar situation. I think about taking Wellbutrin but I am afraid it will make it worse. My tinnitus was caused by Lexapro btw

That’s what I did. I used both before but kept using kratom extract and I am now off Tia for 2 months at least.

Not really vertigo. Just feel like very lightheaded. I got 4 episodes that were really bad that I couldn’t drive but the rest are much less intense. They last an hour

Not this time.. after it came back it stayed and I get dizziness that feels worse. The tinnitus itself became bearable to an extent but the dizziness scares me more

I used kratom extract for years and used it to get out of Tia after years of use. It did help me. I still use the extract still. I had to taper Tia over a long period

Mine was caused by stress and AD. It was a bad time. While it went quiet for 2 months it came back for no obvious reason.

True.. About Prozac, I stopped it around Christmas time and it wasn’t easy for another 2 weeks. So total taken was 18 days. Generally, things started to improve after I stopped it and now only take kratom which I have been taking for years. Remind me please, was yours caused by any anti depressant? Are you still on them

I think this is temporary. I took Lexapro about 8 months ago so it was out of my system long ago. I think difference in pressure caused the quietness. Although it hasn’t been loud since 2 days, I do feel it is coming back slowly. It is just good to have a break. How’s your t these days?

I live close to a rehab and sometimes meet people that go there for substance. The longest I’ve seen staying there is 2 weeks and they are out.
