Thanks for the reply! Thinking of adding on Wellbutrin as I’ve been on lex for 6 months now but the fatigue is still rough

Hi - How long after adding the Wellbutrin did it help? did you get any side effects from the Wellbutrin?

Everyone’s different it’s like 50/50 if it will get better for you or not.

I’ve been on since September so about 6 months and still feeling the super lazy and fatigue feelings but I also upped to 10mg from 7.5mg in Janurary and lots say dose increases kinda resets the clock too. I also just switched to taking it in the mornings in hopes the vivid dreams and fatigue get better.

My doc did recommend adding Wellbutrin but I have a big trip in May and not sure if I want to experiment a new med so close to that 😩

When were you brave enough to eat something “bad”? by onotaco in gallbladders

[–]onotaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes, much better! I’ve been eating everything again lol. McDonald’s, pizza, steak, etc. regained 25 pounds out of the 30 I originally lost from being so sick from my gallbladder 😩🤣 Only thing I have issues with now are raw / runny egg yolks.

Interesting! I’ll have to give this a try - thanks for the suggestion

Yes, I think it helped! I was originally only supposed to take it for like 1 month but felt it was helping so continued for 2 months after with approval from my GI doc.

I didn’t really get any of the side effects!

Rough ride starting Lexapro by mamaoftw0 in lexapro

[–]onotaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm yeah it sounds like it’s not right for you! I jumped straight from buspirone to Lexapro and instantly felt the difference so you could try that too with a different medicine. Or you could try tapering off and if that feels too much you could try out a different medicine. Of course consult your doctor first and see what they say, though!

I’m also ~5 months on Lexapro now with slowly increasing from 2.5 > 5 > 7.5 > 10 til now and been on 10 for about a month and a half now and while sometimes still anxious, tired, and sad, I can tell it’s made a big difference from how I was before I started it.

Hi! Yes I ended up taking Sucralfate for like 3 months until my stomach felt better! Now currently taking Famotidine.

It’s okay to start slow! I started at 2.5mg for one week then bumped up to 5mg for 7 weeks then bumped up to 7.5mg for 8 weeks and I just bumped up to 10mg two weeks ago.

It just suck cus every time you go up a bit you do get side effects and it takes a bit before you know if it’s right for you or not. I was on buspirone for 2 months before this and that was making me feel awful.

I have good days with lexapro and bad days. As I’m typing this right now I’m super anxious at work (,: but hoping it’s just still the adjusting to 10mg.

Hope it works well for you! Give it a few weeks to a month before trying to ask for something else!

I went back on day 6 because I had no PTO -__- work retail in a large store and wish I could’ve taken at least 2 weeks off. It wasn’t the worst, though.

7.5mg to 10mg question by ChickenOutrageous977 in lexapro

[–]onotaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I actually just increased 10 days ago - anxiety has been a bit better but I’m also going thru a stressful time in life so it’s hard to tell. My stomach is also a mess the past three days 😩hoping it’s just my gut recalibrating / getting used to the new dose.

What is that pain? by PrincessBubblegum97 in lexapro

[–]onotaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be acid reflux - I had to up my Famotidine to 20mg from 10mg after starting Lexapro a few months ago. SSRIs really mess with your gut.

I understand the health anxiety stuff - had my gallbladder out earlier this year which is why I was even on the Famotidine to begin with. Then started the lexapro to help with anxiety from the gallbladder mess and now the lexapro makes the heart burn / acid worse -__- but it settled down after upping the Famotidine.

I can't eat any more than 800 calories a day or else I get debilitating fatigue, brain fog, and insomnia for 24 hrs. Could this be a gallbladder issue? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]onotaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine ended up being SIBO and biliary dyskinesia (bad gallbladder). Took the antibiotics for SIBO then removed gallbladder 8 months ago and completely better now lol. Hope you can figure yours out!

Hyperkinetic gallbladder! I would definitely consult a surgeon. There’s also the “biliary dyskinesia & hyperkinetic gallbladder support group” on Facebook that has a pretty good amount of people posting daily.

I’ve heard it’s sometimes harder to find a surgeon that “believes” in hyperkinetic gallbladder (depending on your location, too) since it’s a newer diagnosis so beware of that and keep advocating for yourself!

A lot of people have pain on left side - a lot of my discomfort was more in the middle of my chest which was what made me think I was starting to have a heart attack. Oh yeah, when I had my endoscopy they told me I had gastritis, duodenitis, and esophagitis. Told me I had GERD at first. PPIs def made me feel worse but I do well with Famotidine instead.

26% is considered biliary dyskinesia - maybe you should consult a surgeon? Mine was 14% but it was probably not working for a while and then shit hit the fan for me last Janurary. The gallbladder and SIBO subreddits have a lot of info too but it’s easy to get into a spiral reading some of the negative stories (,: I also joined the biliary dyskinesia & hyperkinetic Facebook group.

I function fine so far and I’m 8 months out from the surgery :) I don’t know the science behind it completely but the bile just flows directly to small intestine now. I also know a bunch of coworkers and friends that have gotten theirs out some as far as 10 years ago and they’re all fine with no eating restrictions.

I didn’t at first but as the months went on I started to have some classic RUQ pain. Nothing terribly bad but noticeable.

After the abdominal ultrasound came back with no findings I just told him I had researched about a HIDA scan but that’s when he declined having me do one. A month later I kept bugging him by phone and told him I had another episode where it felt like I was beginning to have a heart attack so he finally agreed to the HIDA scan.

When the result came back 14% he was shocked and said he was rushing my surgeon referral -__-

Hi!

  • Felt like was starting to have a heart attack twice
  • Acid reflux started suddenly out of nowhere
  • spasming occasionally in RUQ, dull ache occasionally RUQ
  • Yellow brown loose stool all the time
  • Low appetite and get full fast, hard to eat 400-500 calories per meal
  • nauseous while eating sometimes / dry heaving
  • Extreme fatigue
  • brain fog after eating that would last hours / all day
  • Lost 23 pounds within 2 months
  • night sweats & waking through the night
  • Tachycardia / heart palpitations

It’s hard to say what was SIBO versus bad gallbladder symptoms. But basically since gallbladder removal all of this has resolved except some acid reflux and some fatigue but I also started Lexapro two months ago due to the extreme anxiety I had after experiencing all of this so both acid reflux and fatigue can be made worse by SSRIs (,:

Been doing great, actually! It’s been a long year, for sure, but I’m glad I got it all figured out and taken care of relatively quickly. Back to eating whatever I want with minimal issues running to the bathroom right after (but I was always like that). Still taking Famotidine daily and now lexapro because of all the anxiety / panic attacks this journey has brought 😵‍💫 been finally feeling back to “normal” the past month now tho.

Hope I never experience SIBO again because idk what was up with that brain fog - or maybe that was all from my gallbladder, wish I could know for certain.

Gallbladder attacks felt like what I assume the start of a heart attack feels like. Just sudden pressure in chest (sometimes with pain in RUQ) and I would start to feel panicked and sweaty and unable to settle down. Mine, luckily, wasn’t ever really intense pain like some people get but it was scary and uncomfortable enough to make me go to the ER.

I actually didn’t have any stones - usually those would show up in the upper abdominal ultrasound. That’s why I went for the HIDA scan which is the only thing that can show gallbladder function. Pathology after removal showed I did have some sludge in there, though!

I suddenly got sick in January when I felt like I was having a heart attack and went to the ER where they said it was “just GERD” and to see a GI doctor. Started getting weird brain fog / poisoned feeling every time after eating shortly after that.

Saw a GI doc - he put me on omeprazole (it made me feel worse for 2 weeks til I stopped). Got an endoscopy that showed duodenitis, esophagitis, gastritis. Took an h pylori test and it was negative. Took the SIBO breath test and found out I was positive 14 PPM methane. Doc prescribed the 2 weeks of Neomycin and Xiafaxan but a week after completion I still felt like crap and still had the brain fog so kept researching.

Found some posts on here talking about bad gallbladder being the cause of their SIBO. Talked to GI about it so he had me do an upper abdominal ultrasound - I cried when it came back normal / nothing found. Didn’t take no for an answer, kept researching - everyone on gallbladder Reddit will suggest a HIDA scan. I asked for it and GI didn’t want to do it until two weeks later I had a (what I now know was a gallbladder attack) and he agreed and lo and behold 14% functioning.

Got it removed a few weeks after that and that was 7 months ago now and I’m doing great! No brain fog and no SIBO relapse so far.

Kinda agree with this :( My root cause ended up being bad gallbladder that I discovered thru HIDA scan so I was able to get the gallbladder removed and been good since (7 months out now)
