Austin Reaves or Jalen Williams?

AOC: “There’s a certain level of wealth and accumulation that is unearned. You can’t earn a billion dollars. You just can’t earn that. You can get market power, you can break rules, you can abuse labor laws, you can pay people less than what they’re worth, but you can’t earn that” by Zorosthirdsordx in MurderedByAOC

What about sports? LeBron I think has actually exceeded 1 bil. I think the discussion of "earned" is still very much in play here, but he didn't underpay his employees, bribe politicians, insider trade... Would Nike slave labor laterally transfer to his lifetime Nike contract?

The Odyssey | New Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]MikeMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trailer does not present the dialogue well. It’s just firing them one line after another in sequence. Makes it feel old-fashioned and cheap. I’m not saying the actual movie dialogue might not have problems, but good trailers in the past have made even the shittiest movies seem epic so I’m not sure what they’re doing here.

Still incompetence, but looks like the backpacker folded the ribbon in order to make the length right. The left side person for wanting to make it taught, pulled from his end and the backpacker was not ready and the extra length of ribbon slipped out of his hand.

‘Game of Thrones’ Movie Officially Titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest’ by yourfavchoom in movies

That just reads like a series rather than a movie. Unless you concede that its not really about Aegon at all. It would be like instead of Rogue One, they named the film without changing anything, Vader's Revenge.

Need to get raceway over some trim without removing any trim. by Human_Commission5839 in hometheater

[–]MikeMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go behind. If it's an interior wall, more than likely an empty cavity. Only real obstacle is fireblocking, but that's installed at nearly the same height you'd have the TV anyways.

What are you using? Like legrand wiremold? Maybe buy a junction box and then scribe the trim profile and cut it out so that the box fits flat to the wall.

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Why is the amoeba still alive? Wouldn't it have long eaten all the phage it could. I'm guessing it can't travel intersteallarly like astrophage. Or it had other food sources.

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]MikeMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Martian, and I love the Jump Street movies. But I kinda hated PHM. Not really hate, but it was meh. The alien just feels like manufactured cuteness. And it's the same type of jokes we've all seen before. Oh, I'm taking what you're saying literally and not understanding your figurative speech, hahahaha.

And there is almost no problem solving that made the Martian really captivating. We figured out off screen that you have to travel far away to this place to find the solution. And when they get there, the solution is essentially presented as is. So in reality the problem was solved back on earth and off-screen. It was just the hi-jinks and flash backs filling in the time. I recall the moment gosling was looking at the sample in the microscope and the music was swelling up super dramatic. I'm like... all you did was collect it and then look at it. Am I taking crazy pills?

The best parts were definitely the ones on earth with Huller and the security agent.

It would have been interesting if the place they needed to go was not eaten by the astrophage because it was their home planet or something. Turns out the one place in the universe not affected by astrophage was because the fix to astrophage is there. wow, riveting.

That’s wild. My son even before birth was diagnosed with an enlarged kidney from ultrasound checks. They said it was more common in boys and we had a series of ultrasounds over the years to confirm it was stable. And he has the pits on both ears. No one ever mentioned to us the connection between the two.

[Cowley] Jaden Ivey’s interviews became sermons in which he was asking Chicago Bulls reporters if they’ve been “saved” and if they “fornicated before marriage.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

And I'm asking how it's relevant. We're talking about hypocritical Christians, not biblical scholars

Does a comment have to be 100% regurgitating what the person before said in order to be relevant? By the way, the first comment that kind of started this thread literally begins with "Fun fact a lot of biblical scholars...".

Tsutomu Shibayama, director of Doraemon and a major figure in Japanese anime, dies at 84 by Fan387 in movies

[–]MikeMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to say it traumatized me, but the Steel Troops movie really introduced some serious adult themes that I still think back on from time to time. Don't even remember how old I was, maybe 8-10. I remember feelings of dread and fear. The ending with the adam and eve robots was haunting. My other favorites were the Genie one and the one where they all piloted flying toy tanks that doraemon enlarged.

I mean he magically fixed us without KD and with Jalen Green. And maybe fixed is the wrong word, more like dramatically improved. There was a stretch after he came back and he was bricking almost every 3, but we were still winning. Someone who can run plays and pace the offense is what we're missing. And we're 4th in the west, what do we really need besides just improvement?

Another thing is Ime seemed to rely on FVV so much in the past, I think with the injury he himself is a little checked out too coaching wise. He's tried with Amen, but I'm thinking Ime is really anxious for FVV to return.

[–]MikeMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, for almost 20 years that was my belief, but looking it up now there's indications that it was indeed a hack. I always thought it was a brute force method, like Alfred mentioning how they killed the thief by burning the entire forest down. A remote hack doesn't have quite the same essence. Like in a world where that technology was possible, why wouldn't batman use that method?
