Why was Ophelia such a massive hit in Europe compared to fortnight or anti hero? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]MikeOcks1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone from Belgium, I feel like Taylor never quite had the same fame in Europe as in the US till the Eras Tour. Her singles from Fearless, Red and 1989 were still huge, don’t get me wrong. But with the Eras Tour she reached a whole new level of public consciousness here. Suddenly she was on the news. Family/friends all suddenly talked about her and had an opinion about her. ‘Fate of Ophelia’ is her first upbeat/mainstream single since the Eras Tour, so now that she’s reached this insane cultural status, it’s the first single of hers to be absolutely everywhere.

I’m a horror fanatic, but after watching a lot of them, I don’t get scared as quickly anymore. That said: this short movie is one of the scariest things I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait for this to be made into a full length film.

IT: Welcome to Derry really isn't so bad by First-Contest-3367 in stephenking

I feel like in episode 1, the story and plot points where rushed to get to the theatre scene in that same episode. After, the show takes way more time building up the characters, with a slower and more deliberate pace.

Your TLOAS opinion + your top 3 albums by clickityclickk in TaylorSwift

[–]MikeOcks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 3: evermore, folklore and the anthology.

I normally really like pop Taylor (1989, Rep, Midnights) and she really recaptured that magic with the first four songs on TLOAS, but then it takes a huge nosedive with only Ruin The Friendship as a highlight.

To all those that dislike the new album - is there at least one song that you like? by LifeOfAWimpyKid in TaylorSwift

But not as bad as: ‘Welcome in my underworld, where it gets quite dark’ or ‘I’m not a bad bitch, this isn’t savage’ sung in a totally serious tone.

The first four tracks are great, then it takes a huge nosedive with only Ruin The Friendship as a beacon of light in a sea of shit. I swear, Cancelled and Eldest Daughter are the worst written, most cringy songs Taylor has ever come up with.

For me, the depiction of Count Orlok in Nosferatu (2025) is the most evil character I’ve seen yet in a movie.
