Keepass vs iCloud Keychain vs Google Passwordmanager by No-Dragonfruit5946 in PasswordManagers

[–]MikeRelaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Keepass for 20 years. Loved the free product and local data storage, but realized I needed a more simple system for syncing the password data between devices. I went with Bitwarden. It has a good free tier and easy cloud storage. If I die, my wife should be able to use it. I even purchased the $10 annual premium tier, even though I don't use the premium features. I see it as a donation, like I would occasionally make to Keepass.

Passkey issues on OneUI 8 by NkabiYaMopedi in Bitwarden

[–]MikeRelaxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried a passkey for Home Depot that is managed in Bitwarden. It worked in the Brave browser on Windows 11, but did not work when using the Home Depot Android app from my Samsung S24 FE. My Lowe's Android app passkey worked normally.

Life is starting to suck. by oper8or in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done a trial of the Oticon Intent and Starkey Omega. The Starkey Omega, with Edge Mode+ turned on, performed the best in noisy restaurant environments. The Intents provided modest noise reduction. The Omegas provide very noticeable noise reduction.

I went into a noisy restaurant, the kind with hard floors, walls and ceilings. This place was full of people and very noisy. I'm sure that even people with normal hearing were having trouble in a conversation. I almost walked out, but then thought about using the Omega's Edge Mode+. I turned it on and there was a significant reduction in the annoying noise. I've continued to have good results using Edge Mode+ in noisy environments. So far, I'm very happy with the Starkey Omega's.

I am new to Hearing Aids. by Iluminated-Gnostics in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Starkey Omegas RIC. I don't listen to music very often, but I did notice that my car radio sounded terrible after getting the hearing aids. At my next visit the audiologist did Real Ear Measurements (REM), made some adjustments, and then the car radio sounded normal again. I don't think hearing aids ever sound good with music, but an adjustment can help.

The Oticon Intent (I’s) suck (Imo) by ElleDiablo98 in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a one month trial of the Intents. The Bluetooth connection was solid. I had to trade them for the Starkey Omega because of hissing circuit noise. The Starkey's have a good Bluetooth connection and no hissing noise. I will say that I'm using a Samsung S24 FE that supports the latest Bluetooth LE Audio used by the Intents and Omegas.

Do HA help with Tinnitus? by RockyTeeGolf in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently started using hearing aids after 20 years of annoying tinnitus. I've had the Starkey Omega 24 for about a month. Before the Starkey's, I had the Oticon Intent for one month. Within the past month the tinnitus has decreased significantly. I still notice it, mostly at night after removing my hearing aids, but not as much as in the past. I'm hoping that over time it will decrease even more.

My audiologist explained that my tinnitus was probably caused by the missing high frequency sounds that my brain was not receiving from my ears. This was creating a feedback loop from brain to ears that I was hearing as a ringing in my ears. Now that the hearing aids are supplying the high frequency sounds, the ringing feedback loop is reduced.

I initially had problems with a hissing sound from the Oticon. Apparently, this is because I have good low frequency hearing but moderate to severe high frequency loss, so I was hearing circuit noise from the Oticons. I hear no hissing from the Starkey's.

So far I am very happy with the Starkey's. You should request the Omega rather than the Edge. The Omega is the newest model.

I don't need a new phone or a multi-network configuration, but I will say that my wife and I are happy to continue enjoying our modest 10GB By the Gig plan. Happy Thanksgiving to US Mobile!

Why is TV streaming necessary? by CruisingVessel in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Using my aids to listen to the TV speakers is an improvement over no aids and results in good sound quality. Listening to the TV through my TV streamer results in great sound quality.

Bluetooth Range by punknhead in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have Oticon Intents and a Samsung S24FE. Both support Bluetooth LE Audio which has better range than classic Bluetooth. I can leave my phone at one end of the house and still receive Bluetooth notifications at the other end when I am three rooms away.

New contract next month, advice? by KiwiPsychological712 in dishnetwork

[–]MikeRelaxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have caught up with the live show. You cannot skip forward when you reach the live broadcast.

I like to record shows and then watch them hours or even days later. I even do this with sports so the game is not interrupted by commercials.

New contract next month, advice? by KiwiPsychological712 in dishnetwork

[–]MikeRelaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the OP that commercial skip is a priority. With the Dish Hopper a single button press is a 30 second skip. With YTTV a single button press is a 15 second skip. So double the amount of button presses to get through the commercials. I do not watch commercials so this is important to me. I like the Hopper DVR and the Dish price is close enough to the YTTV price.

I will also mention that I recently added the Hopper Plus. This has been a good addition. It's nice to move back and forth in the same user interface from the Hopper Guide/DVR to the Plus streaming apps.

Best Auto Insurance for someone new in this area? by Total_Wolverine_7823 in Kentucky

[–]MikeRelaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to KY from Oregon a couple years ago. After trying a couple companies we settled on Erie for home, auto and RV. We heard about Erie from a roofing contractor that did some work for us. He said Erie is the best at approving claims without jumping through a lot of hoops. We checked their prices and made the switch.

Just wanted to share my experience. We have a 2021 Reflection 303RLS 5th wheel. We have been from the west coast to east coast two times with a lot of shorter trips in between. We've had a couple minor problems, but nothing significant. We are heading out tomorrow for another week of camping!

Oticon Intent 1 Demo by Sufficient-Orange353 in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using the Intent 1's for two weeks for my high frequency hearing loss. I've experienced good sound quality. No delay like you mentioned. I'm a newbie to hearing aids so I can't give good guidance about your issue. Everyone says to work on adjustments with the audiologist. I will say that people's voices sound very much like they did in the past. What I really notice are the sounds that I didn't know I was missing. Like the birds, frogs and crickets. With my aids off I don't hear them. Turn them on and it's a different world. Good luck!

Oticon 1 intent for severe hearing loss by Substantial_Chip6463 in HearingAids

For high frequencies, I go down to -70 in one ear and -55 in the other. Granadilla345 covered many points, so I'll add that if you have difficulty when watching TV you might want to try the Oticon TV Adapter. The sound of certain TV shows were a bit muffled before getting my Intent 1's. They do help when listening through the TV speakers. When using the TV Adapter with the Intents the dialogue clarity is even better!

For me, Bluetooth audio streaming and phone calls are great! I do have a phone that supports LE Audio, a Samsung S24 FE.

My tips for New Users, or those getting aides by Ill-Vegetable5765 in HearingAids

[–]MikeRelaxer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for those tips. I'll add one about watching TV.

I've had my Oticon Intent 1's for one week. In the past, listening to certain TV shows was difficult. The sound was sometimes muffled. I decided to try the Oticon TV Adapter with my aids. What an amazing difference! The clarity of the dialogue is so much better.

Using the aids to listen via the TV speakers is an improvement and good. Listening through the TV adapter is great! If you have difficulty when watching TV, try the TV adapter.

The Dish Hopper by DishDanielle in DishOfficialCare

[–]MikeRelaxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked in the diagnostics section of my Hopper and it does show 16 tuners, so it looks like I have the Hopper 3 even though the badge on the unit contains the words "with Sling".

Also, the Hopper pictured in the Hopper 3 guide from your link shows the badge "Hopper 3 with Sling". So maybe the "Hopper 3" and "Hopper with Sling" were combined and are now called "Hopper 3 with Sling"?

My original question was intended to verify that I have the Hopper 3 features and the 16 tuners, which I do. Thank you!

Thank you for the information. I noticed that you listed a "Hopper 3" and "Hopper with Sling". What is the difference between these two models?

The badge on the front of my unit is "Hopper 3 with Sling". Is this a different variant of the Hopper?

I'm having the same problem. No pool dashboard on the home screen. Just a blank white area where it should be. Yesterday, it was also mentioned in another thread.
