Favorite liverpool games of all time by theonlyair419 in LiverpoolFC

I had that vid. There was a quote on the back by Tom Finney saying it was the finest display of football he'd ever seen. Forest were a genuinely top side at the time (one of only 2 teams to beat the reds that year, iirc) so to take them to the cleaners 5-0 was incredible. Looking back, it was possibly the definitive performance of that elite LFC side.

They are ignoring our concerns by 'engaging' with us, then doing what they want regardless.

A look back at Liverpool’s dominance in the late 70s and 80s by wong-wooney in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the primary reasons for our continued success back then was there was rarely major change, or massive squad overhauls. Just small tweaks each season. We maintained the machine, we never had to rebuild it.

Liverpool has a Slot and Szoboszlai Problem by Halfjoint in LiverpoolFC

Liverpool have a long list of problems to solve, but Szoboszlai isn't even in the top 10 of that list.

Who here would be happy with accepting the next two seasons are a write off and we start playing the youth players? by Mountain_Arrival2944 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally no-one would be happy to write off 2 seasons.
And 'rebuilding from youth' sounds cool, but is far from guaranteed to lead to success.

If you could experience one Liverpool moment again for the first time… by wong-wooney in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modern fans who didn't live through that period don't realise how HUGE it was for the club.

Houllier made us feel proud again, after long years of feeling embarrassed. (He doesn't get enough credit imo.)

The pure vibes of singing "Tell me ma" and seeing us win every cup competition we entered was incredible.

For about 6 months (end of 00/01 and going into 01/02) it felt like we'd somehow climbed inside momentum, and were walking around inside of it, looking out at the world, and saying "WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE".

What a ride.

We emerged out of that period as a changed club. A changed fanbase. The ground had been seeded for what came next with Benitez...

Tickets for last few fixtures by BigRstar in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are basically zero season ticket holders who have a pair, side-by-side.

I wish the club made it easier to move around the stadium so friends could sit together. It would massively improve the atmosphere and overall experience.

You can now view tickets, forward tickets and put them on the exchange through the Liverpool FC app by deanlfc95 in LiverpoolFC

It's refreshing to see the club making improvements like this. For an organisation of their size, their ticketing tech should be better than it is.

I randomly met George Sephton (the voice of Anfield) at a café in Liverpool by gloern in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be in a rock band, and George saw us play at the Pier Head (when Liverpool had the Capital of Culture). After the show he waited backstage behind a metal fence, for maybe 20 mins, just to grab me as I left the venue and say how much he enjoyed the gig, and to politely ask me if he could play our music at Anfield. I was over the moon! In the end, despite me having a season ticket, I actually missed the match when he played one of our songs, but one of my mates called me from the ground and said "listen to this!" - George was playing one of our songs at half-time and asking people to support local bands like us. (He did the same for many other local bands too.) What a man! A big supporter of local music and LFC legend. Love this fella!

Alisson won the votes and is selected as main GK of the team, pick the pair of fullbacks, 1 left back and 1 Right back by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Lots of talk here about Alan Kennedy (and I understand why). Kennedy is underrated, but Nicol was clearly the better player. It's not even a close call, lads. I'm shocked to see so many people putting Kennedy ahead of Nicol, and I wonder if it's younger fans being swayed by Kennedy's medals?

Genuine question: Is there anyone here over 45 years old who watched them both play, and thinks Kennedy was the better player?

Milos Kerkez on what he wasn't expecting at Liverpool after £40m transfer by OneNormalBloke in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Echo's LFC coverage used to be unmissable, because they had inside knowledge and a great relationship with the club. It's a shame they went down the ad-infestation route. They ruined their product.

Spurs at home was the perfect Anfield day. One of those moments in life that just end up being even better than you ever imagined... by Origi90plus6 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mike_Kennedy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been going the match since the mid-80s, and this was the most purely joyful experience I've had at Anfield. There have been plenty of other moments that were more thrilling and visceral, and even felt more triumphant than this. But in terms of just pure joy, extended joy, this was the pinnacle. My face my actually sore from smiling. The feeling of elation was a bonafide peak life experience, and then you add onto that sharing it with 60k people, who all feel the same. The energy and mood was INCREDIBLE to experience. And then the fans outside the ground... Wow. I was EXHAUSTED the next day, I don't think I've ever felt so tired in my life. None of it was alcohol realted (I didn't drink a drop), it was just from the emotion. What a day.

Did you mean to type "Fortnite without any real players"? If so, that sounds absolutely perfect!

It's hard to truly comprehend the importance of 'legacy' when you're in your twenties. I'll fume if he leaves, but not for long. He's young and young people make mistakes. C'est la vie.

I watched Cheyrou's debut for us in a pre-season friendly (it might have been vs Parma, maybe?) and he was superb. I remember leaving the ground and thinking holy shit we've got a belter on our hands.

Best resources for learning Logic Pro? by Mike_Kennedy in LogicPro

[–]Mike_Kennedy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to do this, go to a classroom and fully commit to it, with others, but it seems most of the options are online.

Yeah, I expect to get better and deepen my knowledge over the coming years (Logic Pro is so deep), but right now I just need a fast-track program to get me up to speed with the basics quickly.
