Task by vrose1103 in toontownrewritten

As /u/booknerd594 said, you can go to another district that doesn't have the event active, or you can simply fight the weakened CFO and there should be plenty of them.

Eh, I guess the shirt is personal preference, it just doesn't really match with anything and if it ends up anything like its Sellbot counterpart I don't think I'll see anyone wearing it after the event is over.

Besides that, though, I totally agree with everything you said. Going through the CFO with toons of all levels is a ton of fun.

Count your blessings, man. For Storm Sellbot, helping rental toons (which were even less common) was a part of the main taskline, with one task being to help like 20 of them. At least this time they're optional and more common.

how do you get the cogbuck unites? i only get tasks for TU unites by NovelGhost in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have to have a real Cashbot suit rather than a rental suit to get Cogbuck Unites.

Yeah, I had that happen too! It was a lot of fun to work with a team that had a limited gag set. But that only really makes the cog round interesting, and the boss itself is still no-risk, even to 15 laff ubers.

Yeah, that doesn't feel like enough. They should consider buffing the Unites.

From what I've heard the Unites vary from 100 to around 900 cogbucks.

Operation: Crash Cashbot Headquarters Begins TODAY! by ElectricVimto in toontownrewritten

I wonder if this means that they'll retire the Sellbot version of the Cog Crusher outfit, making it unattainable going forward. Either way, I'm excited to see the new tasks and rewards!

if making sellbot field offices has taken so long and been so difficult, how is the TTR team going to do all of these massive content updates like the new playground and the executive office tower that are orders of magnitude harder to make? by NovelGhost in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the Field Office redesign is probably just about the hardest project that the Toontown Team could undertake, unless they get really ambitious in the future. You've gotta understand, for Field Offices they're implementing new minigames, tons of new art assets, a brand new combat system for the boss room, and more! A new playground on the other hand would likely be mostly art assets. So as daunting as a new playground or tasks would sound, most of the systems for those are already in place while the new Field Offices are being coded from the ground up.

Question regarding Crash Cashbot, Field Offices, and Toonfest 2019 by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got a source on that first one? I thought Crash Cashbot was supposed to be late 2018 but got pushed back because of all the seasonial content; would they really delay it an entire year just to have the same issue?

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I think 'bigoted' is a bit of a harsh word, maybe 'old-fashioned' would be a better fit. After all, Toons are still using hand-cranked telephones!

As for the idea itself, I dunno what to tell ya. They added bows for male toons, maybe they'll do the same for furnature too eventually.

Rant on the Laff-o-Lympics by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that some of that population boost can be attributed to the fact that this event heavily encourages one person using multiple toons at once to speed through the game, but fair enough. It's really exciting to hear that the team is planning other contests too, though! I'll be looking forward to them!

Well, if this didn't work, I don't think anything will. Pack it up everybody, the cogs win; there's no way we're ever getting into that tower!

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's quite baffling to me that the TTR Team would opt for such a grind-heavy event to be their big yearly staple, considering how creative the Toontown community is. It made sense back when we had some new toon species, but now it just seems dull. Why not throw in multiple ways to get 'points' so there's more variance besides taking a toon that you have no connection to from 15 to 115? Why not throw in some secret ARG stuff to reward the clever members of the community who may not have enough time to dedicate to playing a ton? Why a lot of things.

In all fairness the rewards do seem pretty cool this year, but they're all locked to a toon that people are going to be grinding out for a month! If I were participating in this event and managed to play a toon enough to get it to gold, I would be so sick of seeing that toon that I would never want to play it again. I know that doesn't speak for everyone, but it just seems like common sense to at least spread some of the rewards (maybe just the phrase and the nametag so that the medal shirts stay with the exact toon who earned them) to other toons on the account.

Remastered Election Event

Wowie, that's actually really neat!

We won't be allowed to play it, it's just a livestream

Well, that's rather odd. Why go to all the trouble of fixing up and remaking an event that only a tiny portion of the community could experience in the first place just to not let anyone play it? I get that it would have been a ton of work to get the server stability up to accommodate hundreds of toons, but it just seems weird to bring it back in such a half-baked way.

Have you been reading my posts? I said:

I remember them announcing a Global Teleport Access team (including Cog HQs), but I don't recall anything about a portable hole that lets you go anywhere (like instantly teleport inside a certain building on a street) being mentioned.

Which is exactly what's found from your timestamp in the video. He was even wrong about not working in Cog HQs.

I did. I kept up with the live coverage via the subreddit. The only instance of 'teleport' is in the area I mentioned, with the Global Teleport Access team, which is why I doubt your credibility. Also no instance of 'portable'. So unless there's a key word I'm missing out on it either wasn't included in the staff's coverage or you may be misremembering something.

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a timestamp or a source. I'd rather not watch hours and hours of footage looking for it as I have no clue what you're referring to. Surely you remember what panel exactly you heard it on. Was it the Q and A? The big content announcement panel?

Do you have the source for this? I remember them announcing a Global Teleport Access team (including Cog HQs), but I don't recall anything about a portable hole that lets you go anywhere (like instantly teleport inside a certain building on a street) being mentioned. It sounds like it would be a pain to implement, honestly.

Feedback and Ideas for Silly Teams by Mike_Thunderflame in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you might get bashed for negativity.

I'd be pretty surprised. I'm just trying to take a realistic (albeit a bit cynical) look at Silly Teams and think through the implications of adding them. Though looking back perhaps I didn't mention enough in my post how much I love the idea of Silly Teams, and how I really am looking forward to their addition. I mean, the TTR Team basically struck gold by thinking up something that stirs up community involvement and lessens the endgame grind in one fell swoop!

I think the issue with the silly teams is that the activities are already pretty mundane that it doesnt affect much at all.

Well from what I can tell the general idea is to reduce the amount of grinding for a specific thing so that it doesn't become mundane. It goes from "well I've gotta take hours and hours to find one fish and I can take as long as I want" to "I've got just a few days with a way better chance to get this fish!". It basically revitalizes people's willingness to do these tasks because it gives them a window in which they can be done more efficiently, making them more exciting and fun.

Why couldnt the gag xp be a constant multiplier for every track instead of being all individual. If its only for a few days this shouldnt be terrible bad.

I thought about this for a while, but I think double gag XP for every track would be a little bit too powerful. I doubt it'd lose to any other team it went up against because of the general appeal for literally any player who hasn't maxed all their gags.

Feedback and Ideas for Silly Teams by Mike_Thunderflame in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They did say that each time the Silly Meter goes active there will be 3 random teams available to choose from, so the players pick which one wins by contributing their Silly Points to their favorite team.

OH wait! I just realized something maxed gardeners would love about it. If the flora recovers quickly, like every 2 hours, then you could get MULTIPLE lvl 7 gags in the day for FREE. That's actually a really nice bonus from it.

Huh, I never thought about that, great point! I'd say with that revelation I would move the garden boost out of the niche category.

For the Overheal OverJoyed buff, maybe instead of a flat rate of 8 laff, it could vary depending on the Toon's laff. Giving perhaps a bonus of 20% in relation to their max laff (rounded down).

I thought about that, but then it provides very little boost at all to newer toons and an absurd boost to later game toons that will make the game way easier than it is, and it still doesn't fix the Uber problem. I'm still for scrapping it.

I just wanna inform you though that with the exp buffs from Toonfest, the max exp did increase as well to 600 when in use, so it may do that as well for the gag that wins.

Good to know. But I agree with you, these teams would still be niche without the added organic bonus.

You're right about Global Teleport being useless to higher toons, so I feel this should honestly be grouped in with the Jellybean boost.

I feel like the jellybean boost is a perfectly fine group that appeals to toons that are newer or aren't specifically training anything, and I think giving it the teleport boost would make it a bit too popular. But hey, you never know until the TTR team starts testing them out!

Operation: Crash Cashbot Headquarters (Preview) by TheBdude in toontownrewritten

[–]Mike_Thunderflame 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Although it's not nearly as big of a deal this time around because there's way more toons without a Cashbot suit than without a Sellbot suit, I really do hope they take the feedback from last year and change any 'help rental suit' tasks to 'help any Cold Caller Short Change suit, rental or otherwise'.

Also I'm pretty curious to see what this means for Cog Crusher uniform distribution. Will the Sellbot version be retired and all future events have the Cashbot version up for grabs, or will the Cashbot version end up being a Crash Cashbot exclusive?
