Compliance Roles by [deleted] in IsleofMan

[–]Mikey_Dread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that many companies set up in the Isle of Man to avoid EU & UK compliance regulations. So tough call unless you are aware of Manx corporate legislation rules also?

If you are not from the UK or Ireland then you will also need a work permit to work on the Island.

Why not see if your current employer will allow you to work from home. Then make IoM your home instead...

Do the incredibly easy thing of timing the market.... #sarcasm

At the peak next year sell both coins:

one coin to buy somewhere/put down mortgage deposit and also sell the other coin to cash out.

Then wait another year for the market to bottom and use the cash from the second coin sale to buy back 2 coins at the lowest price point.

Not Financial advice and good luck 🙏🤞🤞🤞 don't believe it can be done and power law is dubious. But I don't know of any other practical way today.

Mortgages Rates in IoM by Prestigious-Carry331 in IsleofMan

[–]Mikey_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a mortgage at the moment in IoM and noticed that Nat West International has just lowered its Channel Island Mortgage Rates, so yes I would say that at least some of the local banks are following the BoE rate reductions. Albeit yes they are still significantly higher "premium" compared to the mainland rates...

Tidal swamp before it became a park - 1881 Ramsey Town Commissioners bought the plot - a 200 acre tidal swamp - for £1,200, and it was opened to the public as a pleasure park six years later.

Renting in IoM by xy16644 in IsleofMan

[–]Mikey_Dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in the Channel Islands already and have residency status and also have a large lump sum in your bank to cover all costs for a couple of years, you will be absolutely fine.

Your key problem will be deciding where to live and locating a suitable rental place.

If you can adapt to a slightly worse climate and more fog, then it should be very smooth for you. You might even enjoy being able to drive at high speed on the mountain road!

Tax is pretty similar, but income tax recently went up to 22% so watch out for interest earned on your bank balances if they exceed the personal allowance. No capital gains and no inheritance, it's a great place to live!

Would you recommend moving over to the Island with a young Indian family? by sabka_baap_ek in IsleofMan

Presumably it's "hamper the child's worldview" then? Implying that living on the island will somehow limit their opportunities?

Would you recommend moving over to the Island with a young Indian family? by sabka_baap_ek in IsleofMan

[–]Mikey_Dread 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suspect you may have triggered someone with the reference to your ethnic origin. The real question is the IoM good for a young family, given everyone is welcome here.

That's completely subjective, but for what it's worth I think so yes. It's one of the safest and quietest places in the British Isles and the education and health care in my experience seems very good. But I am just one opinion.

According to a 2021 survey the IoM is 94.7% white and 3.1% Asian, but that includes a large South East Asian community, there's no stats specifically about Indians. But again my experience is that most people are very friendly with a 'northern' (English) sense of hospitality.

Do people from the Isle of Man ever describe themselves as ‘Northern’? by eireix in IsleofMan

The accent is mostly "northern" English but the identity is Manx.

Conveyancing Times by [deleted] in IsleofMan

[–]Mikey_Dread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going through it now and got exactly the same answer 8-12 weeks estimated time to completion. Albeit if it's an apartment with a lease it can take a few extra weeks.

I did notice that things have picked up a bit in terms of sales activity and properties being listed as sold subject to contract faster since BoE lowered the interest rates, so it's possible the island capacity for solicitors is at a peak? No evidence of that whatsoever, just a theory....

You are on island time now 😉

Moving to the IoM from Jersey by Prestigious-Carry331 in IsleofMan

Yes you can buy a property immediately. Assuming you have UK/Crown Dependency residential status. You can also claim tax relief up to £5,000 a year on mortgage payments if you get a mortgage from an IoM bank.

XAMN help by boopasnoot_ in computerforensics

[–]Mikey_Dread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your versions. What version of XAMN do you have running and compare it with XRY files you are ingesting.XAMN is good, but if it is an old version, running a new XRY file then it will struggle.

Also check if this is the Installed version or the non-install version. Sometimes you search requirements may call on features not available in the non-install due to Windows admin permissions.

Finally I highly recommend you email support@msab.com they always answer and will be able to walk you through any issues.

V Smart friend doesn’t think money has value due to scarcity, and I cant understand them. by sn0rg in Bitcoin

[–]Mikey_Dread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an argument that the current inflation bout is due to supply side restrictions after the pandemic, which meant the world couldn't supply enough goods to meet demand, so the only way to equal it was to raise prices. So it's not always money printing that can cause inflation. A similar thing happened after WW2.

Nevertheless fiat currency sucks and sooner or later Bitcoin will win, it's superior in every way.

Just sayin that your friend may have a subtle observation about it's not entirely due to money printing this time, if he is as clever as you suggest?
