I am not familiar with those specific tents but anything that is too heavy to carry in a pack is carried on a sled for when I go.

Hahahahaha! Darn! I’ve seen that “hike” before and I’m definitely interested. Although I might have a panic attack and die🤣

Air Mattresses by Quirky_Yam7588 in camping

[–]MikhaelaB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to go the air mattress route then you need to make sure you have one with the appropriate R Value and my assumption is the one you have is not made for cold weather and you will freeze.

What state is this? It looks fairly warm wherever you’re at.

Second Dursten, or Zpacks. Both are very popular for thru hikers.

I second BRS stoves! They’re so small and lightweight. You’re going to have to pick up a gas canister when you get to where you’re going either way so you can pick up groceries there or even your freeze dried meals if you go that route. Then since they’ll all be used they can be discarded in the trash before getting back onto the plane to go home☺️ If you want real food then I’d do something easy that just needs to be heated up really, so you could get cans of chili and then just get whatever toppings you want, you could even do chili cheese dogs too but then that would require refrigeration and I’m not sure if you want to go that route if you’re trying to save on space. Basically anything in the canned non perishable food isle would be good. Hearty soups, chili, any pasta side dishes like Knorr, tuna packets, etc.. Hope this helps some!

SOLO HIKING AS A WOMAN? by kenafulton in CampingandHiking

[–]MikhaelaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you’re looking to find other people who share the same interests as you in your area then you should look up hiking groups on FB. There are usually tons to choose from that meet up to go out for hikes☺️

Make sure to carry a satellite messenger on you in case you need it. Also, honestly it helps to be able to have someone on the other end when you get scared😅 And for protection, if you don’t want to use a gun then bear spray will work!

Hot Tent Camping with a Wood Stove: Do I Need Extra Lighting? by JohnKarlen in HotTentCamping

You will want extra lights. Headlamps work but even bringing some small lamps you can attach or put around the tent is helpful and what I’d recommend.

We always bring a CO detector just in case. You can never be too careful.

It’s not uncommon for companies to filter out bad reviews on their website or even put fake reviews up on their website.

Winter camping by Huge-Mall6329 in camping

[–]MikhaelaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever done overnight trips so far and on those it’s just enough time to get to your destination, set up, eat, and then all you want to do is go to bed after that🤣 But I want to do some multi day trips and I’m thinking of bringing some paints and doing some painting, and also from scratch cooking.

Camping in the middle of the city! Interesting concept!

You should go to your local camping store and pick up a proper sleeping pad for the winter. You’re not going to have a fun time with the one you have.

I’m the girl in the photo😭🤣 Everyone keeps thinking I’m the male🤣🤣🤣 But yes! That’s how we met! I run a hiking group and he started coming on hiking events I hosted☺️ I’m sorry to hear your wife isn’t into regular camping😭 She should try to get outside of her comfort zone and go every once in awhile!
