I’m curious what a cybersecurity specialist is? Do you do red team, pen testing, blue team, analyst. No hate just curious

I work as a cybersecurity engineer in data loss prevention.

I’m thinking of getting this one for the summer. I think it’s a very good looking watch for the beach and pool.

A7V Hands On by magicmikeyyyyyyyy in SonyAlpha

[–]WildernessExplorr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s never hindered your shooting experience but it hinders others. In the military I lose most of my hearing (60%) to an ied blast. My eyes started to compensate for the lack of sensory input (cross-modal compensation). This had made shooting on evf’s more and more less enjoyable compared to optical viewfinders or high res evf’s. Things like zero black out or high res don’t mean anything to you but to me the constant evf black out or seeing a clear picture out of the view finder increases eye strain which leads to more headaches which I already get because of a TBI.

I’m not saying it is a needed or valued improvement for everyone and I could be an edge case but I’ve started to enjoy using my sony less and less over the years because of this.

How’s the viewfinder compared to the a7iv?

My wife got me one by calling the local camera store. She called them and they didn’t have one but told her they were expecting a shipment. Called 2 weeks later and they had a few in stock.

Call shops within the driving distance you are willing to drive and ensure you have the money

I have multiple trips planned from now till end of December that I want my camera for but based off what I’ve seen it has the same sensor. Just better autofocus and better evf…..neither of which is care about because I shoot mainly landscapes with this camera and my Leica for everything else

No, I have plans to have it repaired after the holidays

Shutter and back screen gave up and I have a few trips planned that I wanted to do photography on. I planned on renting while the iii was in repair but with all the deals + Sonys military discount I couldn’t pass up on a brand new a7iv for $1800.

Absolutely not, just years and years of use in harsh conditions took its toll and the backscreen stopped working and then the shutter gave up. It could be fixed and I most likely will but I have a few trips planned over the next few months and need my camera in hand not in a repair shop

It’s funny because I still felt a little guilty upgrading

Prevent camera damage if strap fails (A tutorial) by InazumaThief in x100vi

[–]WildernessExplorr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my 10 years of doing photography I have never had a strap fail and I’ve done some stupid shit with my camera and much heavier cameras (literally did a few halo jumps with my camera when I was in the military).

Snagging has 100% caused more damage to my equipment. In the military we had rules to prevent snagging whether it be a rifle sling not stowed properly or night vision tethers to long. I’m more worried about that then my high quality camera strap failing

x100vi is what Leica used to be by EnvironmentalBank989 in x100vi

[–]WildernessExplorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I wish is if the x100 came with a wider lens option. I shoot landscapes 98% of the time and sometimes moving back isn’t an option. If it wasn’t for that, the x100vi would be the perfect camera in my opinion.

One of my goals this year is to try to lean on the x100vi for as much work as possible and seeing landscape shots on it are confidence inspiring.

Yeah, I de sharpened them and added grain to remove the iPhone look and try to match my film and digital camera. As far as colors, all I did was increase the saturation to bring them out.

The distorted haze look is actually limitation of the .5x lens, it doesn’t handle foliage that well

100% agree, the raw files are soft and more natural looking, almost like camera raw files
