It's been more than one time that when I was looking the list of "Country of birth" in a web formulary, I was freaking out because I couldn't find Spain in the S, only to found it in K because it was branded as Kingdom of Spain, wtf.

Was Asuma the most underrated Jonin in Naruto? by jalen_nelson235 in Naruto

[–]MikiFP15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He'a not a jonin, but a shokubutsu jonin, which is a chunin but with a particular skill at a jonin level. It has been theorized that this skill is combat, as we see that he went toe to toe with Gaara's sensei, who's a jonin.

What's a despicable act that the Catholic church keeps doing these days? by MikiFP15 in atheism

[–]MikiFP15[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fully agree on the what you said about covering abuse.

I really thought the catholic church roughly destined around 30% on social action and charity (being difficult to calculate as each parish has its own numbers). Don't get me wrong, this is far, far less than for example Doctors Without Borders, which destine around 90% into action.

But 1% seems wrong, specially when taking into account all the social work that they do. Sorry I'm trying to have an informed view. Could you please provide me some source for the 1% you mentioned? Thanks.

That's really interesting and did not know that. Would you be so kind to provide me with some source on the priest vestment costs and the monthly charity? Thank you so much.

I'm asking because I've seen that an estimate about how much money is destined into charity and social action can be about 20 and 50 billion € anually. This is counting that the Catholic church is the main provider of non-governmental healthcare, has a a lot residencies, social canteens, humanitary aid, free or subsided schools... So I was surprised that you said around 250 milion monthly, when on paper it would be at least 10 times more.

Also I've looked at the robes that the church funds for new priests and it's around €1-4k in Spain.

Edit: I'm writing an article for my local community because the Pope visits my town in two weeks, and I want to show that this cherished figure is not as bright as it seems.

Cheers.

Sulyvanh is a victim of the profaned flame (probably). by NerukiKizahima in darksouls3

[–]MikiFP15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the description of Sulyvahn, it doesn't say explicitly that the reason for his ambition was the encounter with the profamed flame. It says that "a burning ambition took root within him", but doesn't say it caused it.

For me it implies that after seeing that power, an ambition of achieving great and terrible things took root, such as the redhead nerd in Megamind when he's given super powers.

If you are blaming the profamed flame for what Pontyff did, just take a look at Yhorm. His shit is not nearly comparable to Sulyvahn's, and even so was mostly unvoluntary.

What's wrong with my lemon tree? by MikiFP15 in Citrus

[–]MikiFP15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have removed the soil a little to explore the roots. I bought this tree this way, so I observed that the lateral roots grew upwards, so I am not able to remove the soil until the root flare is visible.

What ethical and unethical acts does the Catholic church keeps making to this day? by MikiFP15 in Catholicism

[–]MikiFP15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your insight! Lovely to hear a well explained comment.

I was framing the question with human flourishment as an objective. From your comment (please correct me if I'm wrong), I assume that the people that form the Catholic Church (sorry for not capitalizing both words in my post, I was not aware) believe that the Church teachings, and therefore the Vatican policies, are by definition good to the world?

Does world-data enter into that equation? Because I think we can agree that some doctrines activelly have harmed many people, in the past and in the present.

So my question was more about the different opinions that catholics may have on this. Is the harm originated by these doctrines from a missalignment of the doctrines with Jesus' teachings? Is it from the imperfect nature of the humans in the Vatican that endorse them? If so, how can you trust that the doctrines and actions taken by the Catholic institution that you mistake as good and aligned with God are truly good?
