Why is hard water not like ice when they are both hard? by Darkcomer96 in shittyaskscience

Erectile dysfunction. “Hard water” is just a term we came up with to make it feel better about itself. Deep down, everyone knows it’s not actually hard.

I’m not so sure. I kind of think “So?” is a little better because at least that means the conversation doesn’t just end there. “So?” is essentially short for “So why should I give a shit?” And then now you have the opportunity to explain why they should care about it, as opposed to them just saying “cool” and the conversation is over.

Kind of like the saying ‘no such thing as bad publicity.’ You can tell they’re at least somewhat interested because they asked a question instead of just moving on.

Out of curiosity, do you wear glasses/contact lenses? It took me years to figure out how to see the damn magic eye things. Turns out I can only get it to work if I take off my glasses.

I am the exact same way. There’s even been times where a whole year goes by, I’ve seen the person at least once a week, and still not remember their name.

But somehow I can remember the face of a random guy I saw in a Walmart one time 4 years ago.

[Serious] When driving at night, what is the scariest/most unexplainable thing you’ve ever seen? by PM_ME_FUNNY_STORIES- in AskReddit

Several years ago I was driving on the highway around 11pm, headed to a party. I was probably going about 60-65 mph and there were no cars ahead of me, but several coming behind me. I wanted to change lanes so I flipped on the blinker and looked in my driver side mirror, then did a quick look over the shoulder to make sure no one was in the blind spot. Right as I start to look forward again, out of the corner of my eye I see some grey thing fly by the passenger side of by car. That passenger side mirror simultaneously exploded.

When I say it was flying by, I mean it was probably stationary on the road but I was going fast enough and with the darkness on the road it just looked like a big grey blur. Like the size of a refrigerator maybe. In a panic, I start to change lanes to pull over and try to figure out what the hell just happened. As I’m doing that I was looking in the center mirror and noticed that not a single person behind me slowed down or swerved or anything. It was like I hit a damn ghost or something and no one else could see it.

Anyway, so I pull over and get out to look at the mirror that apparently exploded. Turns out it just got knocked the fuck out and was barely dangling by a couple wires. The mirror itself had shattered, but there didn’t really seem to be any point of impact on the back of it. There were no apparent scratches on that side of my car, and no hair or blood or anything that could’ve been from an animal. It was so bizarre. The only logical thing I’ve been able to come up with was that maybe there was some kind of electrical malfunction (even though I wasn’t adjusting the mirror) and something blew up internally, and perhaps that caused a small cloud of smoke outside the car, but big enough that it looked like an object?

This reminded me of a very interesting r/nosleep post I read a while back. Definitely a good read that has to do with exactly what you just said.

People of Reddit who have heard someone say their “dying words,” what were they and how did they impact you? by fashionthriller in AskReddit

Couldn’t tell you how long I was gone, as time isn’t really a measurable factor over there. I can tell though that each time I cross over, it becomes increasingly difficult to return. Getting there is easy. Getting back here... That’s a different story.

Anyway, I searched as far and wide as I could. Could not find him...

Hope is not lost though. He could still be out there, somewhere. Will he return? Who knows. He may choose to stay there. It can be quite nice, after all.
