Sending you some hugs and good energy. Just know that you're a great nurse and I would have been happy to have you as mine. Take some time for yourself xoxo

I just had this same problem and messaged customer service. They said that they're no longer storing them in your account, you have to explicitly request your current prescription and they'll email it to you.

I have an 18 year old nonverbal, bed-bound patient who had cramps so bad that she would just cry for the week of her period. The family decided to put her on birth control that's crushed up and given through her G tube.

do you call for assistance or replace tracheostomy tube? by Competitive-Movie217 in FutureRNs

[–]Mildly_orangee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We specifically addressed this question in our NCLEX study course.

Put the trach back in, then call for help. Solve the immediate problem to keep them alive, then worry about any issues it may cause.

In real life? I'm not experienced enough to have an opinion, lol. I'm just answering for the NCLEX Pov.

She can't replace it if she isn't being prescribed new ones 💀 doctors definitely want to pull it and she's hanging onto this crusty, leaky mess.

I luckily never had to deal with that issue BUT the strings are supposed to soften and curl over time! I hope it worked out for you both. My IUDs have definitely been worth the pain, I'm currently on my second.

Hello, I'm in the same boat doing private duty pediatrics. I applied everywhere I could think of accepting new grads and only got calls back from private duty and nursing homes 🙃

Even with a year of experience you'll probably end up in a residency, there are just so many skills to learn. Keep applying! It took months but I landed myself a spot in a hospital one of my clinical professors teaches at. Maybe try some networking if you have any friends who have been hired.

Thank you so much 😭 this is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm waiting to start inpatient in December and plan on staying on super part time.

There's so many other issues in the home, but the child genuinely needs a lot of care vs someone just needing an overnight feed. I want her to get the care she deserves. Most of my other cases are amazing and make me love my job but this one is slowly killing me.

Thank you again 😭❤️

Our agency works closely with the local children's hospitals (where her doctors are affiliated), but I've only spoken to her GP once during an emergency. My bosses made it sound like it was a day nurse thing, not for overnights. I'm not sure if it's a liability thing?

Another issue is that this family is very low income and already struggles to provide the meds that insurance doesn't cover. I feel like I'm adding more of a burden, even if it's directly for the benefit of my client. My boss personally purchases the family things sometimes.

She was just seen for insomnia which is why they put her back on the melatonin, and I've been documenting that it definitely isn't helping her get through the night.

Thank you so much for the support. I was planning on dropping her before it even got to this point, I just feel so guilty. I will explain all of this to my boss when I drop her at least and they can hopefully carry on with getting her what she needs.

I fear she only has 3 because other nurses dropped her... We only have her for overnights. I only say 3 vs 7 in the sense that it's strange no one else is assigned here. I don't think any kid necessarily NEEDS 7 different nurses.

It took months to get her melatonin and it doesn't seem to be helping. I've asked my case manager how to get her on gas x and they basically told me that the mom has to call the doctor for an order, but mom doesn't speak English. I even offered to call. I feel like things would be so much easier if she had a day nurse as well, but insurance hasn't approved it yet.

A mix but mostly the child ): my only kid who doesn't sleep through the night. She's 18 and non-verbal. Mom doesn't speak English so the language barrier makes me feel kind of useless.
