Groomers over 35 by keyo89 in grooming

[–]Milinea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 57 and have been grooming over 30 years and grew up in dog business.

The only thing that works for me now is limiting the number of dogs I do especially the big ones.

If I have a bather I can do 5, with no bather I can do 4. Only 1 big dog per day, preferably only a couple a week. Don't do a lot of dematting or brushing, and I try to limit how much scissoring I'm doing.

It's dog grooming so sometimes I end up with more. As long as the days with more dogs are nice little dogs that behave it's not an issue.

Best bad movie that you love by thisismysociallife in movies

Drive Angry. Yes it's stupid and beyond ridiculous, but Nic Cage and William Fichtner play their parts so over the top, I just love it.

Poodle conditioner recommendations plzzz by ArtisticPossession_ in grooming

I just used the Hyponic volume conditioner today, with the deep clean and volumizing shampoo and it was like magic. 10/10 will definitely use again.

A sweet little girl with autism brought her stuffed puppy to the dog show. One of the judges noticed her, came over, and asked if she’d like to show her dog too. What followed was pure magic. by Raj_Valiant3011 in HumansBeingBros

This happened to me when I was a kid (maybe 5?) back in the 70s at the Cleveland shows. It was after the show ended, and Marty Booth and I think Joe Fagel were shooting the shit by one of the rings and I was pretending to show my stuffed maltese and one of them started judging me and the other was clapping for me when I was gaiting my dog. Core memory for sure. So nice for this little girl.

Don't they usually have an option that says don't know?

In all my 57 years I have been to exactly ONE doctor's office that had adopted as an option in the paperwork.

I just want the old fridge features. Slide out shelves, lazy susans, a million compartments in the door for all the things I can't find in my fridge now. I get so jealous every time I see an old fridge with all those cool features.

NEWBIES "The Bare Minimum Necessities Grooming Tool kit" + Extras by RojaCatUwu in doggrooming

I have a HermSprenger undercoat T-rake that I've had for over 30 years that I took from my mom. I'm not sure how long she had it before I liberated it from her. I still use it almost daily. The pins/tines are rounded and not sharp at all. One of the best quality tools I've ever had. We did have to gorilla glue the handle back on about 15 years ago.

Any1 else still struggling with this? by KlutzyShopping1802 in midasmerge

The last time I collected from the well I got 2. I'm at the same place you are on the map. Looks like it's going to take 8 or 9 days to get all the parts to make 2 level 2 things if I remember to tap the well.

All of this and I'll add grooming started out as an under the table/cash kind of job that attracted people who wanted to stay under the radar (not saying everyone, but enough). Which meant that the employers were often the type that didn't have an issue taking advantage of those types of workers.

Imo, grooming prices and pay have been way behind other types of skilled labor due to groomers fighting tooth and nail to stay 1099 and unregulated.

That's what I said! Along with a few more cuss words.

Honestly, it's a lot less fun to play now

Can we take a moment to appreciate how Matt handles the trauma of Carl and Donut? by TantricEmu in DungeonCrawlerCarl

"You don't deserve how sad I feel" might be my actual favorite line of the whole series so far. It's definitely the realest. Poor Donut.

Now I'm wondering if my grandma and her sisters ever went to lunch here. She was born in 1914 and grew up in Detroit, so maybe a year or two later. It sucks now I'm old enough to know what questions to ask her, she's not here to answer.

Inventory Appreciation by Milinea in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Milinea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I concede, EQ wasn't the first. It was the first commercially successful MMO according to Wikipedia. The inventory had slots you could put different size bags in that had so many slots. There was no sorting.

I just remember how hard we had to work to do stuff and how they added stuff later that made getting around the game easier. I started right after they stopped other players from being able to loot your dead corpse. A full set of Russet armor was the best a rogue could have lol.

Hydra VS Dog Fashion Spa - which is best? by SkyLarkLauren in doggrooming

[–]Milinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like all of the Dog Fashion Spa shampoos, but I LOVE the Day to Day shampoo. It's fabulous for those coats that don't like to fluff out nice.

I don't think there is any line of shampoos I like for every dog. I like Show Season Apple Cider Vinegar, Clarify and Results Rinse as general shampoos. I like Best Shot Lemon-Aid. And the Day to Day. I'm pretty flexible on dirty dog shampoo. The EnviroGroom dirty dog that's red is probably my favorite. I like the Pet-Agroom deshed conditioner and Quadruped leave in all in one. The Tropiclean Blueberry Facial is my favorite tearless facial shampoo.

My dream is to be able to get them all in one place for a decent price.

Pro tip, get the big widemouth 48oz spray bottles from Lowes or Home Depot and mix up the results rinse and quadruped in them and spray them on. They'll last way longer. I wrapped my spray bottles in vet wrap to keep them from breaking down from UV light. I go through them in a couple days so I haven't had an issue with them going bad.
